At a quiet beach, she gathers inspiration, finding it in a stranger with mischievous dark chocolate eyes and a quirky passion for marine life. FBI agent Ryan Thorne shut everyone out of his life after a devastating loss six years ago. Safeguarding his emotions and feelings, limiting his interaction with people is the only way he can keep those around him safe. Being unreachable, unlikeable is his MO until Mia gets under his skin. Her snark, her sass, and her persistent nature have Ryan doing things he swore he’d never do again. Like laugh... and open his heart. He finds he likes it, and her, a little too much.

But loving her will put her in danger. It’s a cost too high. A risk he’s not willing to take. The only way to keep her safe is to walk away...but his heart marches to a beat of its own.

I was so excited to be back in Crystal Cove with an amazing group of friends.

In Something More you dive into the life of Mia Parker and FBI Agent Ryan Thorne. Their story is full of suspense, heartache, following your dream, friendship, family and a steamy romance.
These characters will feel like family. You will laugh with then and cry with them. They will make you laugh and frustrate you.
I would highly recommend this book and series.

I liked this book. I liked the unique characters and that things weren’t just clique and easy like so many storylines. I haven’t read the previous books in the series, but I can see the characters and pieces of their struggles woven through. This book has some steamy scenes.

This is another good book from the author. She develops the characters each so uniquely you find yourself lost in the book pretty much from the very beginning.
The two main characters are Mia Parker and FBI Agent Ryan Thorne. Mia is watching her girl friends get married and having children in their quiet little town in Maine. She goes out to bars and dates but nothing serious. Agent Thorne is in Maine watching over Mia’s sister who had issues and now a new identity. Mia meets agent Thorne (in his character James) while she was researching sea life for her start as a children’s author. They get along and decide to spend the day together. It's then that he has to reveal who he really is, FBI Agent Ryan Thorne. He’s a very mysterious complex man but she really wants to get to know him. She finds him to be very aloft as to who he really is. And Ryan fell’s like he’s carrying a ton of baggad and doesn’t want to get serious with anyone. They end up having amazing sex and both agree it’s only see. After having sex severaly times, they are each realizing it’s not just sex. Each realizes this but how to tell the other is something they can’t figure out.Mia feels she’ll never be good enough for someone like Ryan Agent Thorne feels that everyone he cares about ends up dead and he doesn’t want that to happen to Mia.

Everyone of the friends are hooking up and baby fever is overtaking their bodies. In the midst of it all Mia is realizing she really want's that. The whole shebang. The problem is you gotta have a viable pool of candidates and she doesn't. He has lost too much in and is closed off to more. Nothing can or will come of it but why the hell not. This story is an emotional battle between two scared people. It's heartbreaking and yeah at times he is master jerk extraordinaire, until he isn't. It's a slippery slope with Mia showing her issues and him showing his. I love the series and the friends they make it all good again and give plenty of reasons for deep cleansing laughs.

I really enjoy this author's work immensely and I particularly like this series and the group of friends and family in this small town. This is Mia's book. She's been quite a character throughout the other books and I couldn't wait to see what happened in her story. The fact she was paired up with Agent Ryan Thorne from an earlier book just made me giddy with happiness. The straight-faced, buttoned up FBI agent and the party girl! Yup, fun happens. But as with many of this author's books, there is an underlying story of heartbreak and sadness we must get through. Luckily we always get our Happily Ever After.

I really loved Mia she is not afraid to speak her mind, has a good amount of sass to her and I totally get her feeling left out as all her friends are in relationships apart from her. Then there is Ryan aka James, wow you really do get mixed signals from him but the more he opens up the more you want him and Mia to get together even if he doesn't indicate he wants to. There is plenty of confusion, mixed signals, laughs, heartache, baddies and some hawt scenes between Mia and Ryan that keep you turning the page and needing to know how things will end! This is the first in this series that I have read so I will be going back to read the others now as I have to get to know about how all the others got together!!!

How do you get to be 30 and still not have your life planned? Ask Mia. She knows. When all her friends are coupling up and finding their soul mates, she's still trying to figure life out.

Enter FBI-undercover agent Ryan. He's got a life plan and it doesn't include getting up close and personal with the friend of someone he's keeping tabs on for strictly witness protection reasons.

I love an opposites attract book and this is one - in spades!!! I always feel that the opposite personalities bring out the best- and the worst- in their counterparts, and this is certainly true in SOMETHING MORE. Mia and Ryan are foils in every way, except the most important one: they both want to be loved.

Marianne Rice never disappoints! I was allowed a sneak peek at this book before publication and I'm glad I was!

Mia was a bit over the top acting like she was being attacked when she thought James “Ryan” was following or kidnapping her and when she thought her sister-in-law was being harassed. She tended to act without thinking at times. She claimed that it was just sex with Ryan, but it was clear and he could tell too that it was more than that even though he went weeks between seeing her. He puts up walls because of what happened to his ex-wife and her child when a perpetrator he was investigating killed them. He’s afraid of Mia and his heart getting hurt. I thought it was cool that she was writing and illustrating marine life children’s books and that he knew so much about marine biology because of his father. It was nice to catch up with the characters from the previous books in this series.

This is book six of the A Well Paired Novel and in this book we get Mia and Ryan's story. Mia needs a break from her crazy life so she heads to the beach where she meets the mysterious Ryan. Ryan is an FBI Agent who shuts people out because of something that happened in his past. When he meets Mia his wall comes down. From the well developed characters to the emotional storyline and everything in between this is a definite page turning book. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Something More is the sixth book in the "A Well Paired Novel" series and is an entertaining read.

I really enjoyed this romantic suspense story and found the characters to be likable, well developed, and realistic. The storyline is well written and flows nicely throughout. While I have only read one other book in this series, I did not have any trouble following the characters and found it worked well as a standalone.

I am interested in reading more books in this series.

The book is a good small town romance read. The book is the sixth story in the Well Paired series but can be read as a standalone read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry.

Too Many Complex Backstories and Relationships to Keep Track Of

This is the sixth book of the series and the first one I have read. I don't recall reading that it couldn't be read as a stand-alone, and the book description seemed like any typical contemporary romance. So imagine my surprise when I felt dumped into a complex world that simply was not adequately described despite several prodigious information dumps by the viewpoint characters. There's a complex web of relationships between everyone (it seems), especially those who have been the stars previously in the series. All of these five couples and other people in the community appear to have deep backstories that are interwoven with each other and with what's happening in this current book. I felt like I actually needed to take a notebook out to try to make sense of the book. I hate it when books make me feel like I can't get it, especially for what should just be a simple contemporary romance with a little intrigue. I am sure that people who are already familiar with this series will appreciate all their favorite characters from the previous books being a part of this one, but for a newbie like me, it was just overwhelming and too confusing. Also, the author has a fair amount of profanity in this book. I honestly believe authors should disclose this in their book descriptions so that people like me who do not appreciate swearing in books at all—I don't believe it has a place except for characterization—can skip the book. All In all, I found this too confusing to be enjoyable, and the level profanity added to my unpleasant experience.

I received a free copy of this book, bu that did not affect my review.

This series really needs to be reading order to get the full enjoyment out of it. Mias story is a delight and the fact that they brought back Agent Thorne to partner her was the icing on the cake. Great story.
