With a new and wonderful sense of freedom to discover who she can be, her decisions could be the answer to all of their troubles. Needful Texas is a growing town with growing troubles. Rowdy cowhands, drunken parties, and wealthy ranchers who don’t think they need to become a part of the community. How can Prim, find a home and the help she needs in a town with more men than is good for it?
Danni Roan, born in rural western Pennsylvania, has always loved the country life. Her first work published under her real name, Paula Liddle-Beem, is a collection of folk essays about childhood in the lush, green mountains of PA. Being a teacher of English and English as a Second Language for the past twelve years has only inspired Danni’s love of writing Western Historical Fiction. After receiving her Masters of Education in Teaching English as a Foreign Language she determined to indulge her passion for fiction writing. Teaching both in the USA and abroad has exposed Danni to a wide range of people from all walks of life and she tries to capture that unique character in her work.
This is a continuation of Needful series. It can be read without reading book one. But you would get the most effect of what the author was writing by reading book one.
This was a very sweet story of a young woman needing to figure out a way of caring for her very sick mother that needed constant care and her younger sister. Her dad had been a moonshiner and do no one would hire either girl for a job. But when she decides to become a mail order bride the winds of change begin to bring events in her life that even she couldn’t ever imagine.
This story has twists and turns and friendships, love, battles of wills, battles of who’s ranch is best, a new growing town. And relying upon God to help in life’s troubling times. Several characters rely upon our God for answers.
Sweet story of Primrose, a poor young woman from Tennessee who's father was killed as a moonshiner. She decides to answer a mail order bride advertisement and later send for her younger sister and disabled mother.
Anderson came to Texas from England to escape the rigid rules of being wealthy and all the society women trying to impress him. He's not the man whom is in the ad Prim had written to...how will she react when she finds out?
I loved the story, but could have done without all the missed punctuation and odd words inserted here and there. Also, Prim and her sister didn't seem too terribly distraught that their father was shot and killed basically right in front of them....
The second book in the series was just a good as the first. As we get peeks into the original characters while learning to love the new ones our hearts just keeps expanding. If you love sweet historical romances - you will love this series.
Prom thinking she found a solution to help for the finances needed to keep her mother and sister.instead a town that is over run with men. A delightful comedy to enjoy.
Book read very quickly. You are at the first chapter and few hours later your done. Very enjoyable. Interesting characters including from the previous book.
Another wonderfully written story in the Needful Brides series. I really enjoyed this and excited to read the next one. The book is clean, has Bibical scripture in it and has a happy ending.
Prim is from Tennessee (where I am from) so I could relate to her life. Just getting by with her family in a small shack until her whole life changes. Olive has decided Needful needs good woman and starts her mission with Prim. This is a beautiful story that touches your heart. This small town and the people in it are the perfect backdrop for this series. Well written book that makes you want to read more about Needful.
Primrose Perkins (Prim) traveled to Needful, Texas to answer an ad for a Mail Order Bride. Left at the point where the stage stopped outside of town and told that she must walk the rest of the way, was very disconcerting. Will someone arrive to pick her up? Setting off to walk she encounters danger almost immediately! A range bull. Anderson Bowlings a young man from England, hoping to establish a large ranch finds the young woman in need of assistance on the range. He saves her and the attraction is ignited. Unfortunately when he finds out she is meant as a bride for another his hopes are dashed initially. Dan Gaines, Mayor of the town and the man Prim is promised to, has no idea what has transpired to bring Prim to his town. Prim has arrived to search for happiness and a way to provide for her Mother and sister. Her mother has been injured in an accident and left in a childlike state. Her sister Periwinkle and herself have been caring for them, but being the children of a Moonshiner in Tennessee has left them ostracized by the town. Danni Roan is a master storyteller and weaves a beautiful story. Her characters are woven together to create harmony and an exciting new series. You won't want to miss this one! I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
First mail order bride arrives to marry someone who didn't send for her.
Another good story in Needful, Texas. Primrose became a mail order bride, the first to come to Needful. She thought she was there to marry a rancher but it turned out he didn't order a mail order bride. Someone else did, well meaning and all, but that wasn't right and he wasn't even told about it. But another rancher found her where the stage route ended, and dropped her in the middle of the brush with about a five mile walk to town. He came in a nick of time when a range bull was about to attract her. He got the bull to turn away then picked her up and put her on his horse and took her to the town's only eatery. This is a story about one rich man, a new town that didn't even have many buildings built yet, a young woman from the back hills of Tennessee, and finding there is no difference in this town if you have money or never had much, and love comes anyway. Faith, trust, and love. It's really all you need. I really enjoyed this story and the unexpected outcome. I highly recommend this story and the one before it which tells about a wagon train that came to help populate this no-named town and the man who first started it
A better written book than #1 BUT errors spoiled it.
Too many sloppy errors. A phrase left over from a paragraph rework. Typos and more typos. Formatting errors such as open paren with no closing paren. Big gaps of blank space in the middle of a sentence. With so many errors, the result is a deduction of 2 stars
If one removed these, it's a 3.5 to 4-star book. ERRORS DISTURB THE FLOW OF THE STORY. Like a song played but with stops every time a wrong note is hit. A movie where PAUSE is hit in THE middle of a dialogue.
If the author had read the book aloud before pressing the "publish" button, I would have given four stars. Every one of these errors should have been caught by BETA readers or the author.
Danni Roan does it again with her book Prim. Danni creates characters and a town you just want to fall into. The characters are like a big family, they share love, laughter and hope. This book was more than a sweet romance. The story is also about friends who made a long wagon journey to start a new town. The work, commitment and care is something they all share. I didn’t want this book to end, another fantastic story that will keep you wanting more! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Prim: A Needful Bride. Book 2 Just as entertaining as the 1st Book!
Loved this book! I love how this Author writes her heroes and heroines, the storylines for each book in this series and the secondary characters who play interesting parts. This one had a surprising twist which I loved. A sweet, romantic and entertaining story ending with a HEA. Looking forward to Book 3. JudyE
Anderson- An Englishman rancher. Primrose- went to texas to marry but was able to find work to try to take care of mom and younger sister. I enjoyed reading this engaging story that is well written with charismatic characters and sub characters. Lots of laughable moments. Their story has a wonderfully sweet HEA!
The need to find a welcome place to live sends a backwoods girl from Tennessee to the wilderness of Texas. A town trying to calm down and become civilized rough cowboys and loving townspeople make for a wonderful tale.
This is a beautiful love story. I love this time in history and just loved everything about it. Could not put it down until it was done. Can't wait for the next story.
This is a sweet well written story. The plot and the characters and plot were well thought out too. You will enjoy discovering their happily ever after.
The storyline portrays a tale of strength and fortitude of the people who comprise the town of Needful. Prim and Anderson's romance is a delightful read!
