When I was a kid, and spending time with a childhood friend and her family, we went to the national library and up to the kids' section where the Librarian there handed me this book. I'm not even sure this was it, but it was about the Monkey King, he was slender drawn and had a red staff. All I know is at the time I had no idea who or what the Monkey King was, but I very much enjoyed the book.
