Korean culture is taking over our beauty routines, our homes, our playlists and our TVs. Here, for the first time, this beautiful book brings together everything you ever wanted to know about the Korean way of life.
Illustrated throughout and packed full of practical tips and advice, this handy manual is infused with the very best of Korea's cult trends.
The Korean Lifestyle Book will show you how to transform your daily routine with the beauty bloggers' skin-first philosophy and will show you how to create your very own minimalist sanctuary at home by focusing on the Korean influence of light and simplicity. Find out why Korean food is good for the mind and the body, and what we can learn from embracing the drama and pop stars who are taking over the globe.
the amount of pages/content is not much, but I think it suits this book very much. if the writer put in much things, it will be more difficult for me to understand or remember all the mentioned things.
writer mentioned most of things from the Korean perspective regarding Korean Lifestyle, from skincare, food, outfit, etc. and also the writer kind of tried to put k-pop a lot on each part of the lifestyle. she also mentioned how these kind of culture started, I meant you are here to read reviews on Korean lifestyle book, right?
there was a review on Amazon saying that better to read online blog regarding these kind of topics, but I would disagree because what keywords are you going to type in if you don’t know what are you looking for, right?
and also, the writer put some reference like some artist you should follow regarding fashion or food or anything, it was really nice from her.
overall its good, but I want to read something that specific like a book of Korean Lifestyle: Fashion, for example. or since the writer experienced writing abroad, try to make ‘localized’ food recipes or fashion styles that available on that country market.
I really enjoyed this book! I picked it up on a whim at Half Price Books because I recently downloaded duolingo and started learning Korean. Seeing it there just felt like fate. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I read this all in one sitting, but I think if i had had a free afternoon, I would have done the same. It was quick and easy to read! I really liked the stylistic way this book was presented, especially the typeface on the cover and throughout and the pictures. I also like that it will be easy to refer back to. For example, even if I am not ready financially to implement some changes in my lifestyle (skin care is expensive) when I am ready to, I can just come back to this book to look up ingredients and research what is right for me! I also really love the philosophy behind this book and the idea that it is so important to take care of yourself and to be unique to live a healthy and fulfilled life :) I'd recommend this for anyone interested in learning more about Korean culture, or who watches kdramas/listens to kpop!
A fun, light beginner's guide of how to incorporate Korean influences into your life. While I enjoyed all the sections I think the section on skincare was definitely the most useful, I definitely want to look into the products and methods. Not very indepth but attractively layed out and a nice starting point to whet your appetite for reading more.
Korean lifestyle book is a very short, basic and general text; it does present some key aspects of the korean lifestyle that are positive and easy to understand, however it is both EXTREMELY BRIEF (so much that you probably know 99% of the information in it already) and selective - it touches only upon few aspects (skincare, style, cuisine, music, dramas) but it doesn't go deeply into explaining any of them nor does it really make any links between anything. I felt almost as if I were reading a teenage blogger... Which was not enough for me. What added to it was the language, and here I blame both the author and translator and editor - in the polish version there's a few mistakes; on the whole though, my issue was that the language is watering down the content; loads of empty adjectives describing style as "sublime, stylish and bold" five times did not give me any idea about how do the people actually dress. Perhaps going into more detail, showing more examples would have been helpful... What I did like on the other hand were the examples that are provided (sadly so few only) and the way the book looks. I'd say it could be a fun position to have as a child to young teen perhaps, who is interested in the Korean lifestyle; not so much for anyone older I'd guess! Still for some nice examples and pretty look and easiness of reading I did give two stars, because apart from not being very informative it was an enjoyable read.
