Henderson Family Saga #1

Blindsided by Love

Rate this book
If confidence was a women’s size twenty, then its name would have to be Aspen St. Andrews. The thirty-one-year-old freelance journalist is living life on her own terms, except in one area. Love. She feels somewhat stuck in an engagement to a man that she once loved, until things began to change once they decided to cohabitate. They argue about her career as if it’s a hobby and Aspen is sick of it. As their engagement is on the verge of being dissolved, she decides to take a trip to the little town of Nome, Texas to interview farmers about their livestock that are mysteriously dying. What she doesn’t expect, is to meet a man that threatens to change everything she found attractive in a man. Aspen couldn’t have these sorts of desires for a stranger who was tactless and rude. No matter how pitiful her relationship was, she was still engaged to be married.

Seven Storm Henderson is a man that knows what he wants. Until he finds it, or he stumbles upon it, he chooses to live life to the fullest. Being the youngest of seven children, he’s used to getting his way. He owns a full-service center and mechanic shop and his family pretty much owns the entire town. But what he loves is taking care of the animals in their pastures, especially the cattle. Women are willing to throw themselves at his feet, but he only wants one thing from them. Even with him being rude and nasty to most of them, they still continue to chase the Storm. One day, what he feels is his destiny, drops in his lap, but he soon realizes that she isn’t like most chicks he dealt with. She was all woman.

Storm and Aspen have a rocky start, because Storm can’t seem to speak intelligently enough to woo Aspen. He realizes that she may be too good for him, but that doesn’t stop his pursuit. Will Storm make the necessary changes to have Aspen all to himself or will Aspen make the necessary changes in her life to actually give Storm a chance?

Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.

A country romance story with amazing characters and sizzling chemistry but the overuse of the N word and swear words was real distracting.

Pampered city girl meet rude abrasive country boy and falls madly in lust. Storm had Aspen flustered and shook from the moment they met. She did not want to be attracted to him but, she just couldn't fight it. The feelings were mutual and Storm didn't let Aspen's engagement deter him from pursuing her. He was bold and unapologetic in his attraction to Aspen and had absolutely no filter whatsoever. Aspen is stuck in a relationship of convenience and desperately wants out but, doesn't want to disappoint her parents. When she runs into Storm at a club and they have a steamy encounter, Aspen finally decides to stop fighting her attraction and let love take it's course. These two were cute and hilarious. Their chemistry was jumping off the pages. Storm was mean, ornery, and rude AF but, Aspen had no problem putting him in his place. The only thing that kept me from giving this book 4 stars was the excessive use of the N word and the bad grammar. This was not an urban or drug themed novel so, the constant use of the N word made no sense. Especially when the main characters didn't come from a hood background. Storm had a healthy dose of hood but, I don't know where he got it from. Other than that, Blindsided by Love was an enjoyable book. It was a good take on two people from two different backgrounds still able to find love and make it work.

3 1/2 "Storm" Stars!

Well, I don't know if Storm and I would have made it past that first interaction. He was a jerk. But Aspen seemed to like him so that's cool, I guess. I do love me a country boy. Not sure if I'll continue the series. Maybe... Happy reading!

The Storm Is Over Now

Girl, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. You're about to make me a country girl. Well, I've always been one at heart. 😂 Storm blended in with the rest of them. What I wouldn't give to be apart of that category. Whew, chile! He just came through disrespecting stuff and messing it up. He was everything. Carlos deserved what he got, ol maggot headed tale ninja. I was definitely "blindsided by something" because I didn't see this one coming like it did. I felt like I was the leading lady. Great read. Monica hasn't disappointed me yet, and I don't think she will.

I’m ready for the rest of the series. I really loved Storm and Aspen’s story. Storm was hilarious to me. Had me cackling when he was acting up. Aspen definitely deserved to be loved especially after the her last relationship. I really enjoyed this book.

This Ain’t It, Boo

I was so disappointed by this book. I had it on my TBR list for awhile. I decided to finally read it because the characters are connected to another book that looks interesting. I haven’t read anything by this author before, so I wasn’t prepared by how abrasive her characters would be. They were unnecessarily crass. Storm was the worst leading man. He was bitchy and immature. His whole rude guy persona was very unsexy. I was so turned off by him that I couldn’t even enjoy the storyline. The only bright spot was the camaraderie that Storm had with his siblings. I don’t know if I even want to read the related books now.

a whole fool

Storm was a hilarious mess and everything I was told he would be. I absolutely loved that Aspen was a phat girl (idk if Amazon will let me say the real word). The characters were fun and entertaining but the story felt drawn out and had one two many things going on.

Storm, bayyyybeeeehh!!! Seven Storm Henderson had to be one of the funniest characters ever! He did a little too much when he first met Aspen, but the way that their love story developed was P E R F E C T!! Monica knows how to suck me in! This was very well written, and I throughly enjoyed the introduction to the Henderson family!

Seven Storm Henderson was a destructive disaster when crossed. The one thing that had the power to calm this storm was one Aspen St. Andrews. The author did a good job of displaying the chemistry in their relationship. The conflict that was a small roadblock for the two came in the form of a fiance. You'll have to read it to find our more. Love happened quickly between Storm and Aspen, but it was love with a hint of lust at first sight. This was a down to earth relatable romance with good character development and a solid plot. I think romance readers, especially those that know Texas, will appreciate this story.

Country Love

This was a good opener for this series. I liked Aspen and Storm. Their love was quick, instant yet pure. I’ll take me a Storm any day.

While I’ve been enjoying books lately, my reviews have been short and to the point. Life.

I’m excited for the rest of the series and highly encourage this book to all.

Great read.

Entertaining!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

The characters are country as a sugar sandwich, but I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read. Not much angst and a simplistic didn't deter me from giving this book my undivided attention.

Buy it, read it and enjoy.👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥

Out of respect for the author and the idea of the story but damn what a dead end reading. Felt like pulling teeth just to get to end, just felt amateur or also written within a short time so words were just thrown together, just not up my alley.

hmmm…

I’ve read quite a few books by this author that I liked. However, this wasn’t really one of them. I didn’t mind Aspen, but I just felt like Storm was rude, immature and unnecessary in many ways. Unlike some of these author’s other books, I didn’t “buy” the relationship between the two main characters. I didn’t believe that their relationship wasn’t mainly based on sexual attraction and they never quite came away from that for me. Something about it just didn’t jibe for me. The emotional connection wasn’t quite right and the relationships with secondary characters weren’t as developed as they could be. For example, the conflict between Aspen and her parents was built but then petered out like nothing. The issue with Storm and his father faced a similar fate. The whole mystery that brought Aspen to Nome was kind of brushed away randomly and I still don’t quite get the resolution of that. I just wasn’t in love with this and I’m disappointed because I love long family-linked series and so I was excited to hop on this after discovering this is an 8-book series. I’m not sure if this was just a tough opener for me but I think I’ll give the next book in the series a chance.

I don't normally take the time to write a negative review, if I don't like a book I mark it as read and move on. However, this one requires some attention. The story line is okay could even be considered good if it wasn't for the dialogue in the book. I am a black woman and I know persons from different areas speak and communicate differently but while reading this book I felt like the author thought of the most 'black' things containing the most unnecessary curse words and used that each time a character namely Storm and Aspen had a thought or spoke. It was distracting because it just seemed forced and unnecessary. It had some unpredictable moments but again the dialogue ruined any chance of excitement due to a twist in the story. If the dialogue wasn't so forced or maybe if more time was spent on developing the actual character so that the dialogue was maybe justifiable then it would have been a good read (pun intended)

Review!!

I just love me a good ol country love story . I could already tell that Carlos was not the man that Aspen needed. Aspen a real man. Aspen loved what she did so when she heard what has going on with the livestock at another town she went to go check it out. What she didn't expects to run into a man named Storm Henderson. Storm was rough around the edges he was rude he was who he was. But when Storm and Aspen met they both felt something for each other instantly. It took them awhile to get it together and they did . I cant believe that Cici of all people was responsible for what was happening to the livestock. Who knew Mr. Henderson was harboring a secret like that I do feel like he should have told them . Aspen parents were kind of stuck up but they had no reason to be. I'm glad that everything worked out well. Can't wait to read what's next.

Storm and Aspen

I remember my first time in Vegas I had a cat 5 daiquiri and it was strong. It snuck up on me and I was out, lol...that’s how he gave aspen the business. She was feeling him but tried to play slick, like me and that drink. I loved their relationship. Carlos was an ass and I’m glad he got dealt with. Her parents were something else too but quickly cane around. Storms family was so close and supportive, but would’ve thought that’s who was causing the problems. Keep you friends close and enemies closer. For storm to be the youngest he was basically next in command to his dad. I know how he felt when you look at someone with rose colored glasses they can do no wrong. But we have to remember they are human and make mistakes.

Storm and Aspen are everything these men got a girl ready to pack up and move to Texas and hit the rodeo circuit to find me a Legend, Red, Zayson, or Storm🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️Then my whole married senses kick in🤣🤣🤣 Ms. Walters came with it and from the first opening sentence to the last she had my open. Love Me Some Storm

This man Storm with his thug ass and no filter self had my panties in a bunch. He is so fine.. When Aspen saw him she knew she wanted him. He wanted her he got her and I love 💘 it. Hopefully Jasper and Chastity is next. Also I didn't like Carlos. He is a weak man who didn't know how to let go. Very good book.

Storm!!!!

Sometimes coming on too strong will get you no where, as the saying goes you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar surely pertained to Storm.Aspen although felt the attraction and sexual tension she had to move when she was ready. Parents can be so judgmental at times even when they have faults themselves.Carlos felt like he was the prize and it backfired...

Loved

I loved Storm and Aspen! Storm sounds like my kind of man (at least how I picture him in my mind lol). Love can blindside you but when its worth it whoo wee! I’m glad Aspen didn’t allow her parents expectations make her miss out on a great man. I’m also glad Storm was able to resolve his conflicting feelings towards his father. Great read!

Loved it

This was my first read from this author. But it won't be my last. Even though Strom was a jackass, Aspen was smitten with him the moment he came to her rescue with her flat tire. It was love almost at first sight for both of them, even when she did try to resist it. This really was a country boy meet city girl love story. Loved it.

My Kind of Storm!

I loved everything about this book! I enjoyed the progression of Aspen & Storm's relationship from attracted strangers to supportive friends to passionate lovers. I loved how Storm's family embraced Aspen even when her own family wasn't particularly supportive. I especially liked Jasper's silly self!😀 Really good, solid story! Great job, Ms. Walters!

Great read!

Blindsided by Love was a great read! Storm and Aspen’s chemistry jumped from the pages. Storm had my girl flustered...shook 😂. I also loved how the author uses real, everyday dialogue to convey her story. I thought this added so much realism to the storyline. Kudos to a well written book! I look forward to reading more from this author.

Weather the Storm!

Loved Storm's rude a$$! He was bold, and unapologetic about everything. Aspen, although she didn't like him at first, was attracted to him. Their chemistry was 🔥! Smoking hot! The whole Henderson clan was cool as hell. Really enjoyed the comparisons about tropical weather, to Storm's behavior. Hysterical! Another great one Miss Monica! Great job! 👍👍
