This is the story of a camel who wants to be a unicorn, or at least a camel who wants to be able to do things a unicorn can do. Without giving away what is really needed, I’ll say it’s something a little girl can provide. What I like vest about this book is the expressions in the artwork. Lovely!
It’s a cute story that teaches children not to assume! Sometimes we assume what people what or think and then find out that’s isn’t true at all! This is a great lesson of that experience!
I love love love camels!! When I saw this book I had to get it, and I’m 46 yo! It was sweet, creative, great drawings, and the message was beautiful. A little keen attention and love. I WANT MORE CAMELS!!!
I didn't like this book as well as others because I couldn't find a connection with it. It was about a camel doesn't being as happy after she met a unicorn. Then the camel keeps trying to have a horn like the unicorn. the little girl kept trying to make the camel feel better.
My oldest liked the story and my youngest loved the illustrations which are the two biggest things I look for in a kids book. I liked the misunderstanding aspect.
Our Gem this evening is glows topaz. In it’s natural state it is like the colors of a camel’s eyes. Beautiful warm brown. This particular camel is owned by a very caring little girl who loves her very much and only wants her to be happy. She realizes that her furry friend is not very happy after attending a birthday party and believes it is because the camel wants to be a beautiful Unicorn, like the theme of the party. But is it? Or is it something much simpler than that? I really liked this little book. The illustrations were simple, yet colorful and beautifully done. Illustrator Tanja Varcellja created very sweet characters, perfectly matched to Julia Inserro’s story. This is a wonderful tale for little Nestling’s to learn about empathy, caring and friendship. As an added bonus, on the last page there are some neat little facts about camels, a link to a free activity book and, if you are a Kindle Unlimited Member, this book is free for you right now!
She told her camel, "I love you the way you are.". Her sister had a unicorn birthday party. Maybe all the unicorn gifts or too many cupcakes made her wish this. She tried to use the hat as a horn. To take her mind off of it. They found a roller coaster. She barely got a whee. She put a paper towel roll on her head. They got ice cream cones. She ate the icecream and wore the cone on her head. What is she going to do? She doesn't like seeing her camel friend being sad. This is a colorful fun picture book about friendship. The story is one that will have the little ones coming back again and again. You might even need to make some unicorn horns to wear.
This was cute and I loved the artwork. I was going to comment at the part about how "camels have a big furry hump but unicorns only have a horn" because there are two types of camels, but that was addressed at the end. The only other small complaint I have is the ending is a little silly, with the camel wanting a horn just to scratch an itch. I get this is a kids' book so it's going to be silly, but as an adult it just brought up /numerous/ questions of logic that made the story, and its motto about being empathetic, moot to me.
A silly mystery of why a camel would try to get a unicorn horn, the story’s twist packs a punch for the little ones. “Ah, so THAT’S why she wanted a horn! I liked it!” said my five year old.
