I wasn't certain I wanted to read a book about two teenagers but am so very glad I stuck with it. Her characters are charming and the story truly amazing. As with her other books, I laughed and cheered, but two scenes in particular had me bawling my eyes out. In the end, I wanted to applaud, like at a good movie. If you don't read this book (and Mrs. Woster' s others), you are truly missing out on some great stories.
I think this is probably the best book I've ever read. I'm not the kind of person who likes to read books, so for me to actually read in my spare time is surprising. I read the book for hours and couldn't put it down. You grow very attached to the characters and the story is well written. I hope that the author will continue to write on. I can't wait for the author's next book to come out. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone!
I really loved the story of friendship between two different women who were destined to make a life-changing time-travelling journey.
Even though I found the pace very slow in the beginning, I enjoyed reading about the culture of the late 19th century and meeting native american people.
It was interesting to go back in time and compare their World with our times. The stories like this let us see the progress in our perception of freedom and make us think about the damage we do to our nature.
I would recommend this story to women who have an interest in American history and developed romance stories.
**Book Review: *Love through Time* by Barbara Woster**
Barbara Woster's *Love through Time* masterfully intertwines friendship, romance, and the supernatural into a captivating tale that explores the strength of bonds and the mysteries of the unseen world. This novel is a compelling blend of paranormal elements and heartfelt relationships, making it a must-read for fans of both genres.
The story centers around Savannah Warren and Tyeshia Morgan, best friends whose bond is tested when the supernatural intrudes on their lives. Tyeshia, a statuesque black beauty with a romantic soul, captures the attention of a mischievous 200-year-old ghost. This spectral troublemaker is inadvertently brought into their world by Savannah, setting off a chain of events that threatens to change their lives forever.
Woster excels in creating well-rounded, relatable characters. Tyeshia's romantic heart and Savannah's determined spirit provide a perfect balance, and their deep friendship is the emotional core of the novel. The author delves into their personalities, making readers feel their fears, hopes, and the strength of their connection. Tyeshia's allure and vulnerability contrast sharply with Savannah's responsibility and courage, creating a dynamic that drives the plot forward.
The paranormal aspect of *Love through Time* is both intriguing and well-executed. The 200-year-old ghost's mischief adds an element of suspense and urgency to the story. Woster's portrayal of the ghost is vivid and engaging, blending historical elements with a touch of humor and menace. The mystery surrounding the ghost's intentions and the danger he poses to Tyeshia keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
Savannah's own ghostly distraction adds another layer of complexity to the narrative. Her struggle to focus on saving her friend while dealing with her own supernatural encounters creates a sense of urgency and tension. Woster skillfully balances these parallel storylines, ensuring that each character's journey is given the attention it deserves.
The novel's pacing is brisk, with a perfect mix of suspense, romance, and supernatural intrigue. Woster's descriptive writing brings the settings and characters to life, immersing readers in a world where the past and present collide. The dialogue is sharp and realistic, enhancing the authenticity of the characters' relationships and their emotional depth.
*Love through Time* is not just a story about ghosts; it's a testament to the power of friendship and the lengths one will go to protect those they love. It explores themes of loyalty, bravery, and the resilience of the human spirit. Woster's ability to blend romance and the supernatural into a cohesive and engaging narrative is commendable.
For readers who enjoy a mix of romance, friendship, and ghostly thrills, *Love through Time* is a delightful read. Barbara Woster has crafted a story that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, leaving readers to ponder the nature of love, friendship, and the unseen forces that shape our lives. This novel is a poignant reminder that true friendship can withstand even the most daunting challenges, including those from beyond the grave.
Barbara Woster’s ‘Love Through Time’ is a time-travelling story of mystery and intrigue. Savannah is a studious college student intent on finishing her degree with honours and has no time for the shenanigans imposed by her roommate and best friend Tyeshia. Tyeshia, a statuesque, black beauty, is more intent on having a good time and snaring for herself a rich husband.
“I intend to marry the smartest geek in this school and live high off the hog for the rest of my life,” she says. When Savannah decides she needs to consult her friend, Black Calf from the Blackfoot Tribe, to give her the final pieces of information she needs to complete her thesis, she entices Tyeshia along, hoping she will find something of interest to base her own History assignment on, which is due in just a few weeks. Tyeshia reluctantly agrees but lives to regret it when Black Calf tells her that she is being influenced by an evil Indian from the past, Many Feathers, the cruel and sadistic brother of the tribe’s chief, Mountain Chief. Hoping to avoid a massacre of an innocent Indian Tribe, and to regain control over her own life, Tyeshia is drawn back in time, along with Savannah, to somehow change the past and protect Tyeshia’s future.
Ms Woster has woven a well-thought out and from what I can tell, historically believable tale of life on the Western Frontier minus the actual time-travelling part, of course. The dialogue is lively but appears a little unauthentic. However, it does move the story along, as does the steady pace, which increases as needed to build tension. The characters themselves are believable if a little clichéd, and in a way, the story is predictable in that there is a happy ending, albeit probably not entirely what the reader may at first suspect. It will become obvious what the outcome will be as the story progresses. There are a few editing issues that can detract from the story but it is a good story overall and these can be easily addressed by the Author.
When Savannah unwittingly opens a door to an event best left unspoken, she must protect her friend from the spirit she let in. She needs to find a way to close the door before Tyeshia is lost, but can she focus on what needs to be done when another spirit is distracting her?
I read this book many years ago when it was first published and a few more times since then. It is one of my all-time favorite books. I can easily read it in a day or two and it never gets old. The story starts off a little slow, introducing us to the main characters, allowing us to get to know them and their personalities, for when they are thrown into the main objective of the story. But soon builds in intensity as the author moves flawlessly back and forth between the present and the past. The transition between time periods was always at a point when you don’t want to stop reading, cuts to a different time and you feel for the characters and what they are going through, then goes back and you are reading as fast as you can just find out how it ends!
The author did such an amazing job with the character interactions, their dialogues, and the historical aspects. I could picture everything like a movie as I read. There were a couple mechanical errors I found while reading, an extra letter or misspelled word, but nothing that ruined the story to merit losing a star. This book didn’t leave me with any questions, wondering what happened to a particular character or event, it was wrapped up perfectly; leaving me in a pool of tears and satisfied with how it ended.
I constantly recommend this book to anyone looking for this type of story and it will forever be in my library.
I really loved this book. I love time travel romance and this one was great! 2 girls go back in time to 1869 to change the course of history. Do they succeed? Do they both make it back to the present time? How do they stop a massacre? Read this book to find out the answers to these questions!
Absolutely loved this story of two unlikely friends who are opposites in most ways… including ideas of career and marriage. When a research project ensnares Savannah and Tyeshia, propelling them back in time, can they right a wrong?
Loved the character development and plot twists. If you like time-travel romances, you won’t be disappointed!
This was given to me in the goodreads giveaway. this was a very good book you really become attached to the characters in the book. I am anxious to read more of Barbara Woster' s books she really knows how to keep you interested in a book
This book is absolutely terrible and painful to read. The characters are weak and the plot is ridiculous. It isn't a bad idea, but it's carried out badly. Instead of being drawn in to the story I found myself balking at it. Very disappointing given how much I loved Edge of Insanity.
