Don't be put off by the Daddy Dom/ little girl theme

If you're thinking about reading this book the chances are you are either a Golden Angel fan or love the Black Light series. If like me you love them BOTH, then you are in for one heck of a treat. The author has written a DD/lg romance that can be enjoyed by those who both love the genre and those who don't mind BDSM but aren't so sure if it's their thing (either in reality or in reading material).

Melody is very much a people pleaser and does come across as a bit of a doormat at times. HOWEVER that is very much a deliberate move by the author and is integral to the plot of the book. Kawan is very definitely a Daddy Dom but has been burnt before and occasionally struggles to totally trust Melody's motives. So we get to see both characters grow and develop as the story unfolds, and what a fantastic story it is.

Defended is very much a contemporary romance, and is about two people with very specific needs and desires learning how to fit those into a relationship that works for them both. Melody is a newbie to the scene but knows she has certain 'interests', Kawan is very aware of what he needs in a relationship. I loved how he never overwhelmed Melody, he was almost over concerned that he didn't influence her choices and decisions, and that made me love him all the more. Kawan punished where necessary but first and foremost cared for and respected Melody.

The story contains a variety of BDSM scenes, some at home and some at the Black Light club. And yes, the author did go there with diaper play but in such a way that (a) it wasn't difficult to read if it's not your thing and (b) in such a way that we could understand why it can be enjoyable - even for those who aren't 'baby littles'. The scene almost felt educational albeit in a scorching hot 'I hope no one is reading this over my shoulder' kind of way.

It was a gentler read than the author's Stronghold series, though no less enthralling. Given the power exchange dynamic I truly believe it needed that softer touch. I knew a BL book by Golden Angel would be good - but I really didn't guess it would be this good.

I am OBSESSED with this book and Golden Angel has done it again! 🖤✨
As one of my favorite authors, she consistently delivers the perfect blend of emotional depth, authentic kink exploration and deliciously steamy scenes, all wrapped in stories that feel real, raw and impossible to put down.

Kawan is a Korean Daddy Dom attorney with a protective heart and a painful past. Melody is a doctoral student caught in a legal mess, curious about the BDSM lifestyle but completely new to it. When they meet, the chemistry is instant-but Kawan walks away, thinking he’ll never see her again… until he spots her at Black Light Central, the club where secrets are safe and desires are explored.

„You've been a very good girl all evening. Do you know what good girls get?"
"Is it cock?" she asked, brightening up with excitement. Daddy choked on a laugh, coughing to try and cover it while Melody giggled.
"Oh, you are going to be handful, I can tell."
"A handful of cock?" “

What follows is a beautiful, patient, and intensely emotional Daddy/little romance. Kawan isn’t just a Dom—he’s a caretaker, a guardian and the ultimate green flag 🥺.
Melody’s journey from uncertainty to fully embracing her little side felt so genuine and empowering. And can we talk about the spice? It’s intimate, consensual, and written with so much care, steamy with soul, not just shock value.

I also loved how the book tackled real-world reactions to kink. Peggy, Melody’s friend, is honestly the worst and her kink-shaming felt painfully realistic. Watching Melody stand up for herself and her relationship was SO satisfying. Golden Angel doesn’t shy away from showing how people can react poorly to lifestyles they don’t understand and why it’s so important to “not yuck someone’s yum.”

Daddy Kawan and Melody meet at a very unusual place and there is a subtle attraction. And the meet again at Black Light and the sparks fly.
Melody is uncomfortable with having a Daddy but she really wants to try.
These Black Light stories are always entertaining to read and this D/lg story captured my interest from the beginning.
I loved it!

My review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Merged review:

Although DD/lg isn't my kink, I decided to read this book for three reasons: 1) I like Golden Angel, 2) I like the Black Light series, and 3) I liked the ARC reviews. Though I thought I would probably enjoy the book given my first two reasons, I did have some qualms regarding the third because, quite frankly, ARC reviews are the least likely to convince me to buy/read a book. In over the ten years that I read reviews before deciding to write my own (largely due to my frustration), I found the ARC reviews to be hopelessly partisan (rarely are any less than 4 or 5 stars); written by the same small, interlocking circle of people; too short (I've seen two-line reviews for whole anthologies); and so vague, non-detailed, non-descriptive, and nonspecific to the point where not only do I see the same syntax repeated across multiple reviews for multiple books (usually strings of superlatives and keywords regarding plot), but also I have to wonder if the reviewers actually read -- or read carefully -- any of these books. (Note to authors and publishers: Has anyone actually done any research on whether or not ARC copies entice new readers or persuade others to buy these books?)

But, when I read the ARC reviews for this book, I noticed they were different. They were glowing, of course (which is par for the course), but they were also incredibly comprehensive as each reader carefully laid out what they liked about the book and why. Now that I've read the book myself, I can only say that, for once, I heartily agree with them. And here's why:

1) Consent: If you're going to devote several lines to how safe, sane, and consensual your fictional kink club is and how admirable your fictional doms are, you better back it up with actions; otherwise, these words just ring hollow. And Golden Angel backs it up in spades. Not only is Kawan careful to discuss everything with Melody and to get her consent every step of the way, but also, because he's experienced and she's a newbie, he's very careful not to influence her unduly. He waits for her to come to decisions regarding what she does/doesn't want to try and never pressures her into anything. In addition, the consent is not the false consent that so many of these generic books feature; that is, Kawan never says that the choices are only "a" or "b" (because those are false choices since he's the one unilaterally setting the parameters) or that if she doesn't agree to "a" then the relationship is over (another false choice, not to mention emotional blackmail).

2) Erotica: These scenes are very well-described. Caveat: I would say, though, that while the more general BDSM scenes are vivid, the specific lg activities are less so (Golden Angel has come to this genre fairly recently and has written only two other DD/lg short stories). Now, this wasn't a problem for me since this isn't my kink and, while I don't think it's exactly going to be a disappointment to those for whom it is, I have read more detailed lg entertainment in other books. Ultimately, I would say that for those who like this kink, it's certainly present, but, for those who don't, it isn't OTT.

3) Plot: If you're looking for high drama -- the heroine gets kidnapped by the mafia/bratva; her father tries to sell her into slavery; seven 8-feet tall aliens beam her up into their spaceship so that she can have their baby -- look elsewhere. While there's some conflict (a toxic friendship, the self-doubts and insecurities of the mc), they're rooted very much in reality and are not the main focus of the plot (the progression of Melody's lg journey with Kawan is). I found that refreshing since I find the heightened melodrama and over-stuffed storylines of books in this genre increasingly hard to take.

4) Characters: Not only are both Melody and Kawan very likeable, but they share no character tropes/traits unfortunately far too common in the BDSM genre. Neither is damaged or hiding a traumatic secret (really authors: why do you constantly represent the "vanilla" view that those who engage in BDSM must have something wrong with them?). Melody is submissive, but she isn't a brat, annoying, weak, or TSTL. Kawan is a dominant, but he isn't rigid, unyielding, domineering, or harsh (in fact, all are more funishments, thank god). He never tries to change Melody and, while he is concerned for her safety, he recognizes that she needs to live her life. They also share no character tropes/traits unfortunately far too common in the DD/lg subgenre. While Kawan is older, and has money and a good job, he isn't a multi-millionaire, special ops agent. While Melody is younger (though not by too much) and less well-off, she isn't barely legal and living in her car. She's getting a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, and, thus, is intelligent, has her own career-path, and is capable of earning her own living. I found it refreshing that both were well-adjusted and, thus, weren't using this -- or any kink -- as a way to heal, which is how far too many books depict it. I also really, really appreciate that Kawan did not approach Melody until she was no longer his client. While I realize these books are fantasy, if you're going to depict relationships that would get most H's fired in the real world, then how on earth are we supposed to have any respect for or trust in an H who would engage in unethical behavior?

5) Gender and Ethnic Diversity: The fact that Kawan is ethnic (Korean) alone makes this book deserving of 5 stars (all other aspects being equal). In a genre that is overwhelmingly white, middle-class, abled, and heterosexual, it's great to see some diversity (while it's still rare, I have noticed more books trying to do this). I also appreciated that not all the lawyers and science professors were men, and that there were Dommes in Black Light. (I also appreciated that Melody had kinkster AND vanilla friends.)

In terms of writing, the book is generally well-edited with complex sentences and descriptive enough prose. I thought the author handled the transitions between each character's pov particularly well and quite seamlessly (one pov will end and another will pick up at that exact point, but we always know who is doing the thinking). If I have any quibble, it is that the the book was repetitious: Kawan's internal monologues regarding his ex-girlfriend were particularly so as they told us the same thing without ever supplying new information (such as any specific incident between them), but that's a small complaint.

Perhaps Elliott will get a book? Though he wasn't "on page" very long, he made an impression.

5 stars. Even if DD/lg isn't your kink, you won't regret it.

"Melody was pretty sure she'd gotten wet just watching him unbutton the cuffs and slowly folding the fabric into place."

Golden Angle brings a sweet and stunning story of Melody and Kawan. This story hit ALL the sweet and sexy spots!!!

The journey Golden takes us on with Melody is a real one that I can relate to and connect with! The sex scenes were captivating and intimate all at once! I liked how Kawan has his moments of insecurity but it did not diminsh him as a Dom!

Amazing job Golden!!!!!

I didn’t think it was possible that the Black Light series could get even better, until I read this book! What a fantastic addition! The story of Melody, a young woman unsure if she is a “little” or not and Kawan, a Daddy Dom who wants to show her the way. These two characters are absolutely perfect for each other. Kawan just knows she’s the one for him, but after a disastrous past relationship, he is hesitant. As the story continues, it shows how something people perceive as taboo, is only in the mind of the beholder. Whose to say what is right for one person? Melody is a smart young woman who just wants to be taken care of. Is Kawan that someone? If you want to know, you will need to read this absolutely delightful story.

One of the things that I love the most about Black Light is how the stories are all different. Each story seems to showcase another area or aspect of the BDSM lifestyle in a purely authenticate way. This was completely true with this story. The relationship with Melody and Kawan was definitely a different voyage. While DDlg had been previously mentioned in the roulette books as scenes, they did not go to the extent that this book did. Even though this is not my preference when it comes to BDSM it was compelling to read because I found it fascinating to read more about something that I knew relatively little about.

The author did a great job at showing the progression in the characters as well the reasons why someone might be drawn to this. It was interesting to watch Melody be so independent at work/school and then find the balance with being taken care of to the extent that she was. I also enjoyed watching Kawan and his patience with Melody as he helped her come to terms with that side of herself while fulfilling his need to care for her the way that he did. There was a level of trust here and that I really appreciated.

The story in itself did not have much outside drama but the little bit that there was seemed to only be there to enhance the progression and journey of the characters as they settled into this relationship at both home and the club. I wondered about the reasons for the male colleague at work and what his purpose was to the story because it didn't seem to further the story. In fact, I kept waiting for him to be the drama.

All and all, this was another fantastic addition to the world of Black Light. I look forward to what is going to come next.

From Courtroom to Courtship

I loved all the Black Light books so far and this is no
exception. Golden Angel brought us the first DD/lg
story and it was fabulous. Kawan is defending Melody
in court for a crime she was framed for and it was an
instant attraction, but Kawan kept it professional and
said goodbye once Melody was cleared. Next time they
meet, Melody's room mate Peggy drags her to Black Light
and a chance meeting gets them together again. Kawan
is a daddy dom searching for a little girl of his own and
he hopes Melody can fit the bill. Melody has no experience
at bdsm but is yearning to learn. Peggy, the room mate is
a controlling, overbearing witch who does her best to draw
Melody away from Kawan by belittling him as a DD. This
new dynamic is strange for Melody but Kawan is every little
girl's dream. He is patient, understanding and affectionate.
His goal is to have Melody be his and he works towards
that goal with his caring and protection expected of a true
Dom. I loved this sweet story that was only marred by the
nasty Peggy at times. Great Black Light addition!!!

First off I have to say, while I really love a good Daddy Dom book, it's really not my favourite kink to read about. But this, this hit all my emotional hot spots.......he's caring, loving and definitely a Daddy.
Melody has had her fantasies, I mean who doesn't? I could give you a blow by blow, sounds fun, lol but I think you just need to read this. Kawan is an amazingly hot Daddy Dom who may be inspiring fantasies from a lot of people.......saying for a friend, lol.
All kidding aside she nailed the emotions, the importance of communication and my favorite part, being consistent in the rules.......and his funishments and punishments were super hot, if slightly outside my comfort range.
Definitely a fitting story to a series I love greatly.

Golden Angel has always been one of my one-click authors. To me, she has the innate ability to personalize any story she writes and suck me into whatever world she has created until I feel like I'm a part of it in my mind, rather than just reading words. As a matter of fact, she's the one who brought the "Black Light" series to my attention and what a great book this one has turned out to be. A full-length Daddy Dom/little in a real-world situation that is so relatable there was no way to read it without having your emotions involved. I know I'll have a great deal of backtracking to do in order to read the rest of these books, but Golden Angel has certainly made her contribution a stellar example of what to expect with the rest of the series.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and I thought it was a good read for me. Let me start off by saying that I have no issues with BDSM and I have read DD/lg but this was more than I expected. Maybe it was the diaper play that threw me. I did enjoy the romance between the main characters. Other than a few issues that I had, the book was a good read.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Holy crap. This book was something else and it was EVERYTHING AND MORE.

It was so soft, and gentle and sweet and yet so fucking filthy and naughty, I have no fucking words.

I'm definently not used to the whole Daddy/Dom and little girl Kink so I was beyond unfanthomable at times reading this.

I mean there's this one scene that I just CANNOT take out of my mind, that has me both mortified and hella intrigued.

And the heroine? GODDAMN IT! I FUCKING LOVE HER. This is the type of character development that is so spot on, the type of heroine THAT MAKES SENSE and just, 5 stars just for her.

And can someone take care of me like Kawan does to his babygirl (and possibly punish me as well? 🤭😶)

AND HE'S KOREAN?
AGHHH I'm dead.

I just wish this book was longer and where we ended this book wasn't the end of this story 😢 it's not enough Melody and Kawan-ness.

(And fire play? Jesus, can someone recommend me a book all about that? 🤭)

To be a good girl or to be a naughty little girl?
That was the question.

"Yes, um, Sir." She glanced at him nervously again, flipping her head so that her high ponytail ended up on the other side of her neck.
"Call me Daddy, sweetheart."

"Okay, little girl, let's get back to the game. And let's make it interesting. If you bowl under a hundred twenty-five, I get to take you to Black Light again next weekend."
"What if I bowl over one-twenty-five?" she asked, because now she was torn between wanting to show him that she wasn't a terrible bowler and wanting to just chuck her ball in the gutter.
"Then I'll still take you to Black Light, and I'll give you an orgasm for every fifty points you score tonight." The wicked smile that accompanied that promise made her all wobbly in the knees.
"Every twenty points," she counter-bargained.
Kawan's rich laugh filled the air and Melody beamed up at him.

"Let's start with sex. You marked 'interested,' but does that mean interested tonight? Interested sometime in the future?"

^ YES, YES AND YES We love a communicative consenual RELATIONSHIP

For Melody, this weekend had been about self-discovery. She cared what he wanted, more than she cared about her own satisfaction. Wanted to please him, more than she wanted to please herself. She was sweet, smart, and sexy, as both an adult and as a little. If there were such a thing as the perfect woman for him, she'd be it.

Slowly, Connor nodded his agreement. "It might be fast, but Alexander's right. You look good. And I like Melody." He shrugged. "I knew Ella for years before anything happened between us, but that was our timeline. Everyone's is different. If it's right, then there really is no such thing as 'too soon,' is there?"
Well, that was a very good point.

Black Light has had a lot of great stories and kinks in it, but this is a new one. This is the first DD/lg in the Black Light world, and Golden Angel did so well with it.

Melody is a lovely, sweet soul. But she is a little naive and trusting, which causes her to end up arrested on possession charges. Luckily for her, Kawan is there to help her. He is a high powered attorney who is doing a favor for a friend. And he manages to get her off. All of this leads to them meeting up in Black Light, purely by chance.

I really like Melody. She has such a really sweet and lovely heart. She just wants to make everyone happy, which can be really hard on her, because there are always not nice people who are going to take advantage of that. Not only is she really sweet, she's also really smart. She's trying to get her PhD, and her particular field of study is chosen because of her love for her mother. I think that Melody really is just too good for this world altogether.

I like Kawan too. He's a really decent and honorable man, one who just wants to have the perfect woman to love. He's been taken advantage of before, but he is still willing to get out there and give life and love another chance.

I really like the two of them together. They could almost be sickeningly sweet, but Golden Angel manages to pull it back from that spot. Definitely a great addition to the Black Light world.

Daddy/girl is not my thing, but if it’s your thing, you will probably love this book.

Things I liked:
The premise worked for me, and the author never went to a One Twoo Way to do BDSM or Daddy/girl. I loved that Kawan (the hero) really took the time to figure out what she liked and disliked, and to explore her nature, and that he was especially conscious not to shape her into what he wanted her to be.

I liked the way her relationships developed, both with him, and with other people, and that she learned to stand up for herself over time, while still being able to submit to Kawan.

Some of the sex scenes were very hot, and Kawan always took really good care of her, which I loved.

I didn’t like the POV switches. Although they were handled well, and I always knew whose head I was in, they happpened too fast, especially during the sex scenes, for me to ever really invest.

Great read.

The characters were likable, the relationship-building was charming, the development of the dd/lg relationship was really well-done and the smut was striking.

Definitely recommend if you enjoy reading about a dd/lg dynamic.

So what does it mean to live a life true to yourself, even when that lifestyle isn’t a popular one? What does it mean when a strong, intelligent, independent woman simply needs a break from controlling everything in her life? These questions find a home in Golden Angel’s Black Light: Defended.

The story follows Kawan and Melody. Melody is a doctoral student who has found herself in a bit of a legal jam. She attended a party and someone snuck drugs into her unattended bag. On a favor to the husband of Melody’s doctoral advisor, Kawan, an attorney, comes in to defend her innocence. From their meeting, Melody and Kawan feel the chemistry between the two of them, a strong pull towards each other. However, Kawan lives a certain lifestyle: he is a Daddy Dom. Due to a past issue with a girlfriend/sub, though, Kawan is careful in his attachments to women. Not knowing if Melody lives that particular lifestyle, he walks away from her after helping her, thinking he will never see her again.

A short time later, Kawan visits his new favorite place in D.C., Black Light Central, and Melody is there as a guest of her roommate’s boyfriend. Melody has long been interested in the lifestyle lived at Black Light. When Kawan finds her at BLC, he grows hope that the two of them might be able to engage in this lifestyle together. Yet, Melody is new to a dom/sub relationship, and Kawan must determine if a daddy/little relationship interests Melody. Choosing her for that night, Kawan shares the lifestyle with her, finding out quickly that Melody, indeed, has an interest in being taken care of by a daddy dom. As the story progresses, Kawan and Melody fall deeper into a relationship, but there are worries and complications. Will Kawan and Melody find a happy ending in this type of relationship? Or is Kawan doomed at finding a “little” to share his life?

I haven’t read too many “daddy dom” books, so I was intrigued by Golden Angel’s story. Even more, this is the first book I had read by this author, so I was excited to see how she fares in the world of Black Light. First of all, Black Light is one of my favorite dom/sub series. This means that anyone who writes for Black Light Press really should be top-notch, fitting into the bigger world. And Golden Angel’s story does this well.

From the start, I was hooked. For one, I love the multi-cultural aspect of this. Kawan is Korean, and I imagined him portrayed by the actor in the title role for Crazy Rich Asians, the film that Angel alludes to in the book. His character is incredibly patient, intelligent, careful, and caring. While I have never considered practicing this type of relationship, I would consider it if under the care of Kawan. You want him to find a happily ever after with Melody. With the exception of hiding the issues of his past relationship, he is stalwart, carefully guiding Melody through the lifestyle. He becomes her ultimate unselfish protector.

I also loved that Golden Angel creates the character of Melody as a doctoral student. This is a woman who is intelligent and deft in the lab. Her research is cutting edge, and her future is bright. However, she is a people-pleaser, someone who can be taken advantage of if that person is unkind. We see this portrayed in her relationship with her roommate. One would think that an intelligent, strong woman could stand up for herself. Yet, Angel is suggesting that people who are strong and careful in their work lives might want to be cared for in their personal lives. The two are not mutually exclusive. I thought this characterization of Melody is necessary and shows that the dom/sub relationship works well when both parties have their needs fed.

I simply could not put this book down, and it launched me into some of Angel’s other stories. She writes steamy well. It’s dirty and fun wrapped in one with a bowtie of sentiment. If you’re a fan of the Black Light series, you will want to read Black Light: Defended. My only suggestion for the story would have been to show us Kawan’s family’s reaction to Melody. I kept waiting for the moment when his very Asian mother met Melody. Yet, in the end, everything seems very bright for these two.

Daddy Dom/little is not my favorite genre. This book was surprisingly enjoyable. I started reading this nook , not planning to finish it, but unable to put it down until I read the last page.

I liked Kawan and Melody. The different aspects of Melody's personality were so interesting. Being strong at work, yet wanting to please Peggy, and still finding that special something with Kawan that met her needs.

Kawan was kind, generous, sexy, and loving. I was so glad that Kawan's past did not overwhelm him to the point it interfered with his future.

Melody was endearing, open, vulnerable, and sweet. Even I wanted to protect her from her potential threats. I liked the way Kawan took it slowly with Melody and they both had their friends for support.

I don't know the writer's intention when this book was written, but I felt like all the points were hit. If we were supposed to dislike Peggy, check another box. I don't know that Peggy was really that narrowed it offended, or if she was mad because she couldn't be in control and Melody found something she didn't have.

A sexy, sweet, Daddy Dom romance with an HEA. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

This was the first book that I had read in the Black Light series. I will be reading many more.

Lately I haven't had a book that kept my interest where I'd rather read than watch TV or do anything else. This book was different.

Once again Golden Angel did not disappoint. Even though Daddy-Dom or age play is not my kink there were so many other aspects to the book that made it so good.

This book had a good story with more than just sex. This story was about a friendship full of judgement and control which ended bad. About new friendships full of inspiration and support. A boyfriend that wanted the best for Melody and wanted to take care of her while giving her a chance to be her own person. Although age play or daddy Dom kink is not my kink, the author knows how to write a BDSM scene. Those were so steamy hot. There was the right balance of spanking, butt play and sex. The sexual tension at the beginning of the book drove me delightfully crazy.

I love Golden Angel and now I am loving the Black Light series.

Melody Williams is an intelligent young woman who has dreamt of having her
own Daddy Dom,but would it only ever be a dream.Kawan meets Melody when
he helps her out of a sticky legal situation which she is innocent. She never
expected to meet him again and is surprised when she runs into him at Black
Light.Kawan has desires of his own, could Melody be the little he has been waiting for. They are drawn to each other, the connection strong but why is
Melody so hesitant. Will she take the plunge and follow her heart. She has
many sides to her personality. She is intelligent and professional at work but
her heart ached for more.Something was missing from her life Kawan was a
interesting character. He was so patient and caring but also craved for someone to fulfill the hunger inside him.

I loved the emotional journey this couple found themselves on as they forged the relationship they both dreamed of.The dialogue was open and honest. The
book was a pleasure to read.Ms Angel kept the story simple but it was
captivating.I delighted that it took place at Black Light and it felt like i was
coming home. This is a well written story an a excellent addition to this series.

This is another great addition to the Black Light series, and it has the added bonus of a brief glimpse of Jaxson too. It opens with Melody in court, vulnerable, ably defended by Kawan who then drops his tone to remind her to be more careful in future. When they bump into each other at Black Light later, their initial attraction goes deeper. Melody, although fascinated by Daddy Doms in her books, is unsure of herself and her friend and roommate abuses that lack of self-confidence, making her question everything. Kawan, though, has no doubt that Melody is a Little, and should be his Little. I loved their exploration of the different ages; it’s something I haven’t seen explored in this way and it was delightful to see Melody at each stage. That her growing confidence in her relationship with Kawan translates into a growing self-confidence in general is one of the best parts of this book, and it’s a Golden Angel gem.

I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.

Oh wow! Defended... what can I say besides holy daddy Dom!!

The author did an incredible job with this DD/lg story! I just adored reading about Melody and her Lawyer daddy. The characters were so thought out and real that I could see myself being friends with her. There were no basic characters here, they all had backstories and real personalities (even the bad ones) and they had real raw issues that people go through. It was a wonderful, beautiful, sweet story to read about and I can’t forget to mention that Kawan was such an incredibly sexy daddy Dom that I needed to stop reading and take some alone time. ;)

Sometimes you read books with a lot of action and adventure and you’re on the edge of your seat but sometimes you read books just to feel good. This was a hot-as-hell adorable, feel good book that I want in paperback! I found myself smiling and giggling as I read it. The author paints a descriptive picture of a little girls new life with Daddy Kawan and I loved every second of it. Highly recommend!!

A sweet, full-on daddy romance, including age-play, so it’s not for everyone. Unsurprisingly, the sub-plot message is all about kink tolerance and acceptance of the different ways consenting adults are sexual.

Melody is fully adult, and a biomedical engineering PhD student researching possible connections between diabetes and depression. While she is traditionally feminine, she is no doormat. She is described as round and soft; unfortunately, her best friend body-shames her (in addition to the kink-shaming).

Asian Doms are unusual! Here, Kawan is of Korean descent. He becomes daddy so quickly you don’t really get a sense of his personality outside of the role.

Since this is Golden Angel, expect 👋 hard spanking and detailed 🍑 scenes. =)

Also: I love a good 🌡️ medical play scene. Bondage, ginger oil, diaper play, enema, various punishments, forced orgasm, orgasm denial, and anal training.

I totally enjoyed this read. The fun storyline, likable characters and sizzling chemistry easily pulled me into the book and made me never want to leave. I thought that Kawan and Melody made a awesome couple! I found it both entertaining and interesting to go on this journey of discovery with Melody. The attraction and excitement she felt toward having a "daddy" was perfectly balanced by her fears and anxiety about having a "daddy". I thought that this added an air of realism to this book. Kawan was the perfect "daddy". I loved how how he helped her navigate it all and figure out what worked for her without trying to influence the situation in his favor. Even though these characters were at different experience levels, I loved that they both had things to learn along the way. A truly wonderful read! I am freely posting a frank review.

Always a huge fan of Golden's work, I can say honestly that Defended is now one of my favourite books by this author. I adore the Black Light series, have from the first book, but there have been one or two that haven't quite hit the mark for me--Defended is not one of them.
Kawan and Melody meet under not ideal circumstances, but the chemistry is already there and the fates work tirelessly to bring them together in the safety of Black Light. There are moments of humour and wit that really make the book. One of the secondary characters--you'll know who when you read it--who really needs a good slap and a sorting out. It was VERY easy to dislike said person, but that's the beauty of how the book is written. It sucked me in from the first paragraph and I enjoyed every moment of Kawan and Melody's story.
I hope the Black Light team will be asking Golden to write for them again!

After being previously hurt in a relationship, Kawan is searching for a submissive baby girl. Melody expects to visually explore her sexuality at Black Light, until she meets Kawan. He is gentle and caring and terribly attracted to her. Can he calmly urge her to experiment? Will she flinch, or will she enjoy it?

I was really enthralled and intrigued by how intricate and differing erotic exploration can be to become “Daddy’s Little Girl.” How many age layers can be involved and how exceedingly HOT some of the interactions can be!!!

The excitement, anxiety and arousal between these two individuals kept me on my toes. Will they be right for each other? Will their anticipation come to fruition? Read this book to find out!

This author writes wonderful, quirky characters and Defended is no exception. Melody is a scientist who fantasies about kink but has been too hesitant to take the leap. Kawan is a Daddy Dom on the rebound from a bad relationship where he was treated like a sugar daddy. They ways they fit and complement each other are heartwarming. There's a lot of fun and humor in this story, befitting the characters and their relationship. I particularly loved Kawan's openness to letting Melody explore her inner little at different ages.
Age-play/caregiver relationships have long been mislabeled and maligned; I liked that the author confronted and tackled some of that prejudice in the course of a playful, sweet and sexy story that perfectly fits its characters.

Let me start by saying daddy books so AREN'T my kink. That being said I was surprised by how much I loved this book! I was able to not really focus on the daddy aspect of it as much as the little part. I loved how it explained the dynamic and made it more interesting for me to read and understand. I love learning new things and I thought it was cool to not only see inside the mind of a daddy dom but also a little just learning about her own kinks. The chemistry between Melody and her "Daddy" was quick and blazing but it didn't really seem forced which is amazing. I kind of wish there was a Black Light club near me haha.

I am so hoping to see more of Elliott and perhaps some Lisa in the future...maybe even them together? Who knows!

“Black Light Defended” is Golden Angel’s contribution to the growing Black Light family of books and it was a heady mix of adorable and sexy. Likes: Melody and Kawan are both incredibly likeable characters. So much so that you will instantly want them to have their happily ever after. Kawan as a Daddy Dom would turn most anyone on and Melody is adorable as a little. Their chemistry and interactions were thoroughly engaging making this such an enjoyable read, that it’s definitely a book I will pick up again, and soon. Dislike: Peggy. She’ll be on your dislike list too. “BL Defended” is pure entertainment from start to finish. You want this book.

Fabulous addition. While I love the Black alight anthologies, the stand-alone are made even more special as you get a fuller taste of the relationships behind the kink. Golden Angel puts her stamp on the series with Kawan and Melody, with her trademark realism, romance, alpha men who have their own insecurities, sassy females who are submissive but definitely not doormats, and sizzling storylines to have you wishing for, in this case, a Daddy of your own. Most importantly, I am always left wishing the book did not have to end, yet safe in the knowledge that I can return to the Black Light universe simply by opening my Kindle. Bravo!
