5 Star Review of The Russian Unleashed by Red Phoenix
From the first moment Rytsar Durov was introduced in the Brie series, I have been fascinated by him. The Russian Unleashed was everything I hoped for and so much more. Red Phoenix has told a story that you cannot help but become invested in and from the first to the last chapter I was hooked.
Taking place after college, in this book, we learn more about Rytsar’s history, the story and the past that has made him into the man he is today. It was riveting, emotional and at times heart breaking as we delved deeper into the man who has captured my heart.
Full of awesome characters, Ms.Phoenix continues to raise the bar with emotional and thought provoking stories. Add in the BDSM elements and for me it is a win/win. Rystar will burrow in deep as the layers are peeled back, one by one to show how he has become to man he is today.
This was not only a sizzling book but an emotional roller coaster of a read as friendships are explored and relationships tested. I laughed, I cried, I sighed; I loved this book so much and could easily have read more about this hot, caring and amazing sadist.

Let's start with an warming. If you are not into D/s, reveange, violence and lot of angst, you'll find this book "too much" for you. But if you start reading it, forget that you'll meet a Russian version of Mr Grey. This story is kind of a labyrinth. It needs your mind to understand all its shades. Sometimes it can be confusing, but still intense.
The hero is the "sun" of this story. Everyone envy, chase, crave him. Some want to make him fall, otherwise to get closer to him, or to be dominated or saved by him. Because he alternate moments when he's "the silencer" everyone fears and respect, with other moments when he's a real hero for...let's call them the lost souls.
So, the story is really intense, demanding, kinky, dirty, challenging.
Sometimes I felt lost, because there are so many characters, especially women. At the point where you'll wonder who's the heroine? But each of them has a part in his story
To show you, his tender but determined side or the kinky one.
A detail I found pretty interesting was that the author gave to each chapter a title.
And something I absolutely loved. The words in Russian!

I received an ARC and let's say it is the first time that I do this kind of thing so I hope to be up to it but also to the expectations of the author. Also I want to say that this is the first book I read of Red Phoenix, that I didn't know any characters from his books and therefore that I do my best for the review. We enter in a world of money, sex, BDSM, loyalty, friendship but also Russia and all its elements combined have made this book largely deserves its 5 stars. I must say that Rytsar was a particularly different character from the other men I have read.
From the beginning, I will be honest, I never seen a man in a book respect women as much as him, especially with the money and the power he has in his hands. It was incredible to finally have a male character who, even if he was powerful and wealthy, had respect, courage and a love for women never seen before. Throughout the novel I haven't been disappointed once by Rytsar, he's so sincere in his words, his gestures and I must say GOD HE WAS HOT!!! This protagonist is one of those who have lost a lot but who in return gives without counting to the people around him. I totally fell in love with his fraternal friendship with Thane, it was absolutely splendid to see this two great men being honest, loyal and touching towards each other.
Even if Rytsar is a dominant, sadistic, who likes to offer pain because it gives him immense pleasure, the fact remains that he does that in the art of BDSM, with respect for his partners and being fair in his gestures and words but above all he is honest with what he feels for his mother but also with the loss of his girlfriend who I must say broke my heart. Rytsar remains a man, a real one but also a man who listens to his friends, women, his feelings, his heart, his bottle of vodka and who respects what his grandfather said. This book will take you into a world you don't know and Red Phoenix can write BDSM scenes. I recommend you to take a spare panty, to have your glass of vodka and to take advantage of the absence of your family in order to take full advantage of this book and those Alphas males as much as possible.
You will not be disappointed, with this book I'm telling ya you're going to be somewhere else for a few hours, you're going to be transported in a world where you will not come back fully the same! Rytsar's story broke me but God it was magnificent!!! it was really an extraordinary book which touched me, moved me and made me laugh but also smile. This book comes out on July 14 so I ask you to go take it so that you can fall in love with the protagonists and this breathtaking world. Love y'all ❤😌

I have always loved Rytsar. Hes a very sexy dominant with an amazing story to tell. This book helps fill in a lot of blanks about his story. You can read it as a stand alone but if you really want the full picture, you need to read the others books that he is in. This book will tear at your heartstrings, make you laugh and make you cry. You will love the determination that he has.

How can you review the best story you have read recently! 5 stars does not give it the credit it deserve! You will be enthralled, captivated excited by Rystar's story. Red Phoenix brings to you the tragic,dramatic story of Rystar's past that shaped him into the person he has become . This deep introspection of his past relationship with Tatiana , his involvement with the slave trade in Russia along with his family's betrayal and the immense wealth he inherited makes this a burden for him to carry alone. But it also gives you a glimpse of his relationship with the Bratva and the new family he surrounds himself with. Family, loyalty, drama, friendship is all mixed together to make this and AMAZING story! There is Rystar the sadist and Rystar the sweet caring man both of the, makes him into this caring human being full of love and hope for the future. I honestly volunteered to review this arc.

I wish I could make this a 10 star rating!!! This book starts off with a bang, and it keeps going. At 21, Rytsar has lived through more heartache than many people live through in a lifetime. He has just received his inheritance, and the responsibility that goes along with it. He wants to erase the bad name his father has made of the family name, and bring down the bratva sex trade, in rembrance of Tatianna. But no matter how hard he tries, he seems to fail. The deep betrayal of his brothers is heart wrenching. This man, although a satist, has a heart of gold!! It is awesome to see what he has gone through to become the man we know in Brie's series. If you have not pre ordered already, I highly recommend it. Red Phoenix has out done herself with this one, you will not be disappointed!!

This book is the latest addition to be read alongside the Brie series by Red Phoenix, but it begins and ends before Brie's time in the series. This is a young Rytsar that appears in this book. He is in college and attends with Thane (Sir). And of course he wants to take Thane with him on his adventures, and this book/adventure is no different.
I've always like Rytsar, although he's not my favorite character, because he is always forthright and up front about what he wants and needs. No hiding anything about this dominant. Red Phoenix wrote him as a strong, dominant sadist, and has developed him steadily through the books. No doubt about his leanings.
The book was a wonderful journey into a young Rytsar's background and life. The books follows a lot of sadness for him and a reader gets to see what makes Rytsar into what we see in the Brie series.
The only thing I found hard to get around is that these young men were under 21 at the time or close to it. In most cases, in the US anyway, they would not have been allowed in the BDSM clubs, underground or not, because of their age. I wasn't allowed in them, way back when, until I was over 21, and believe me, they checked to make sure. It might be different elsewhere, I have no clue (I know its different in certain places in Northern Europe because I've been there). I finally had to let it go, and just ignore their age at the time of the book, otherwise, it was going to bug me. :-) What can I say? The mind works in mysterious ways. Red Phoenix already knows this, and knows it is nothing against her book when I find something I can't put my mind to. Actually, the the opposite, because I know the more I don't understand, the more I will seek the information.
I want to say a couple of things about Red's writing over the Brie series. When I picked up the first Brie book, it was by accident (actually it was because I liked the name Red Phoenix). I found the dialogue to be stilted and not at all natural. And I had that conversation with the author at one point in the last couple of years. But something has happened between Book 1 and Book 17 (or 20, or whatever number, there are just too many for me to keep track of). The dialogue is improving, it has become Character-Specific, which is making the books more personal and more enjoyable. By that I mean that Sir and Master Anderson, for example, use different words to express the same feelings in different parts of the books, making them a unique character in the book. Kudos! That tells me that Red Phoenix is not only serious about her craft, she is also serious about her books.
My best recommendation: The book is a standalone, but it really won't mean as much without the books that came before. Yes, you could read this book as an introduction to Rytsar, but I'll bet anyone doing that will want to go back and read it again should they read the Brie series, as this book fills in the blanks.
An enjoyable read, well worth the reader's time. My apology for this ARC review being late. No excuses, just lost track of time! Pick up the book. If you are a fan of Red's writing, if you like BDSM as subject matter, and if you like a heartwarming story of a young man who suffered far too many losses but came out on top, you'll enjoy this book.

Red Phoenix is by far one of my favorite authors. I have enjoyed all of her prior books but I dare say this one is my absolute favorite. Rystar Durov is a man that fantasies are made of and he is my go to book boyfriend each time. He is a man that loves and cares deeply with a haunted past that makes him the man he is today. The Russian Unleashed is simply that, he is unleashed and all male in this book. Red transport you through the country and through time as you explore the man, the Sadist, the lover, the friend. An absolute must read!!

I have only read one other book by this author and it was a smashing hit so I decided to give this one a try and I loved it. The story was emotionally charged and eye opening and I loved every minute of it! Sensitive and thought-provoking topics that are usually glossed over in these kind of stories this author tackles them head on. The reader feels the emotions right along with Rystar- lust, heartbreak, betrayal and finally happiness. There is a lot of steamy, kinky aspects of the story that definitely kept you on your toes. I can’t wait for more books from this author!

Rytsar…oh Rytsar!! Lawd do we love him!!
This book is a great look into our favorite Sadists life after college and before the Brie books.
We get to see more of the man and what made him who we love today. I always love to see the brotherly love bond between him and Thane. They are such amazing brothers from different mothers yet they both learn to lean on the other though trying times all their life. Even though I love Thane with Brie, its fun to see him single and what he was life Pre-Brie.
Rytsar is dealing with so much family drama in this book. We see when he comes into his inheritance and the further strain it puts on him and his blood brothers. We see him embracing Thane as his only brother more in this book as well. The family bonds a person has can be very complex for a person. Rytsar definitely shows that in each and every chapter of this book.
Tatianna…how I wish things had been different for her and him. But she is what makes him the man we love today. She is what gives him is lifelong mission. The result of what happens to her made him grow more than anyone his age and that also makes a big imprint on the man he becomes later in life. I really and truly hope in the Brie series he is able to open his heart to another because fans of the series want him to be as happy as his best friend. Plus can’t you just see him as a daddy?? OMG YESSSSSS!!!!!!

I have been in love with Rytsar Durov since I was first introduced to him. He is undoubtedly my favorite sadist! In fact, he sets the standard and blows me away in every book. I never imagined a sadist would have such a huge capacity for loving others, and the woman who has won his heart....she holds something unbelievably precious. I feel like I've been waiting forever to get a closer glimpse of one of my favorite characters in this series, and it did not disappoint! Talk about a tear jerker. My heart is overflowing with emotion for this man.
In another wonderful book, Red affirms exactly why it is impossible to resist our beloved Rytsar. From the age of 21 to present day, we learn what makes him tick. A captivating story that is full of the mystery that surrounds a man like Rytsar and the family he comes from. Bonus...if you've ever wanted to explore Russia, you are in for an adventure as well as a history lesson of sorts. The story is so genuine and well written that you actually feel like you are walking through the streets of Russia along with Rytsar at times in his life. We also get to spend time with Sir Thane, Brie and Brad Anderson which always makes me a happy reader.
If you've been keeping up with this series, then you must know that a man like Rytsar has become a sadist for a reason. You also know that he is loyal to a fault, kind, loving, and immensely "talented". This story won't let you down in that department either....it is hot, hot, hot I tell you! 🔥👏

Another fresh addition to a fantastic series!
Russian Unleashed is book twenty-one in the Brie's Submission series and Red Phoenix manages to keep her series just as fresh as ever. Each book is better than the last and I can never get enough of these characters. It's always good go back into the world of the Submissive Training Center's favourite thruple, Brie, Sir Thane Davis, and let's not forget our irresistible Russian, Rytsar.
A look back at young Rytsar shows us he's lived through more heartache than most people could ever imagine. Having just received his unexpected inheritance, he's ill prepared for all the responsibility that goes along with it. Desperately wanting to clean up the bad connotation to the Durov name that his drunken gambler of a father has caused, he attempts to bring down the bratva sex trade in rembrance of his first love Tatianna. Unfortunately that's easier said than done and no matter how hard he tries it seems destined to fail.
As with all of this author's books there are some highly emotional moments as past hurts and emotional baggage are forced to the surface in order to be faced head-on. The heart wrenching moments will leave you in tears and only make you appreciate our favourite sadist all the more.
While this book can be read as a standalone, you will enjoy it much more if you've read even a few of the previous stories by this fantastic author. I can't recommend Red Phoenix's books more because she never fails to deliver a steamy, suspenseful, hilariously-eventful good time that pulls you in from the very first line.

I was so happy to be able to read more about Rytsar. He is by far my favorite not that I would want those cat o’nines near me I still like him. He has so many sides to him besides his sadist side. Rytsar is an amazing humanitarian not that he wants everyone to know this.
Family is everything to him even if he had to go out and find his family. Your family is not always the family you were born into but is the family you make and find on your journey of life. Rytsar is an expert at this by surrounding himself with incredible people.
Anytime we get a glimpse into Rytsar’s life I am surprised at how much he has overcome and how mature he is for his age. He is truly a man of integrity and compassion. Do not get me wrong he will do what ever it takes to hand out punishment to whoever needs them and they are always fitting of the crime.
I love Rytsar and with every book I was always sad he never got a happy ending by falling in love with someone special. I am beginning to see he doesn’t need that one person to make him happy he has the memory and spirit of Tatianna with him always. If not for Tatianna he would not have all the amazing family he has around him now.
I enjoyed seeing more of Rytsar and learning about what makes him the man he is today.

The Russian Unleashed by Red Phoenix. Let me start off by saying I love it. This is a 5+ Stars Read. Red Phoenix did her thing. This book takes you back to when Rytsar was a young man at the age of 21. The way the book is written it made me very emotional and the deeper it delved into his life the more I felt a deeper connection to him. As a main character I have always loved his heart but this book made me understand more of who he is and why. I loved what his grandfather did but his father and brothers deserved all that happens to them. His loss of his mother and soulmate broke my heart even more because it was like I could feel his pain. I love who he is and the fact that he never changes. I was angry at no matter how hard he tried to do the right thing. The tried to break him. But he found a way to make it through. I love his brotherhood with Thane Davis and his friendship with Brad Anderson and Titov. I will definitely be reading this book again and have my tissue on hand because it brought to tears so many times especially when the strong, sadist that he is had tears in his eyes. The more I learn about him I know why he feels he only had one great love and he honors her everyday. But I want him to have another special love of his own.

Rystar Durov is a beautiful, generous, tortured soul. At 21 years of age, he’s gone through things most people couldn’t in a few lifetimes. He’s a Durov, so he comes from a long line of great men, and understands what it truly means to be a Durov and head of the family.
Picking up where The Russian Reborn Ends, we find Rystar back in Russia to tend to family business. Family obligations pull him in different directions, and both tore at my heart, and made me want to rip a few people to shreds. Rystar is indeed an old soul, and he relies on himself to see through some unbearable times, but he’s also not afraid to ask for help from those he trusts. Everything he does is done full throttle, be it love, work, revenge, and his exploits in the dungeon. I’m so in love with this sadist!
There was a lot of serious topics covered, but I also loved to see Rystar in his entertaining element. He takes good care of his American friends, Thane and Brad, and is always the life of whatever party they attend. I love the strong, loyal friendship of these three different men. Their kinks vary, but make no mistake, they’re Dominants and proud of it.
I didn’t want this story to end. I need more!

Again, Red Phoenix has outdone herself in pulling us deeper into her stories. While this story doesn't fall directly into the Brie's Submission series, it does have some of our beloved characters from the story. This one focuses on Rytsar, the ever brooding sadist.
When I first met Rystar in Red's series, I wasn't sure of him. Then again, I'm not really into the Sadism part, but this story made me understand him so much more. It pulls you deeper into his world and why he is the way he is in the Brie's Submission Series. We continue to see his bond with Sir and Master Anderson. We also see that as much as he is a sadist, Rystar has heart and a passion for things that we can't even begin to understand.
If you want to learn more about Rystar, I strongly recommend reading this one! It'll have you on the edge of your seats, and parts will almost break your heart.
Also, you may need a cold shower or two for some of those really steamy scenes!
If you haven't read the Rise of The Dominants trilogy, I recommend reading those too because some of what's mentioned in this book plays out in those three!

This isn't about his sadistic desires, though we get a scene. This is about who Durov is at his very center and why. We learn more of his family dynamics at the moment of the final fracture that sets the brothers against Rytsar. Trust me when I say, you don't have to be involved in the lifestyle to appreciate this character. Rystar Durov is the ultimate fantasy. Big, rough, sweet, rich, generous and loyal. He's also a dynamo between the sheets, but again, that's not the focus here.
If you love the Brie series, you must read this because you already adore the Russian. If you're new to Red Phoenix and her wildly popular Submission series, this story delves into the background of a starring character. Read Rise of the Dominants if you want to get your hands on the sexy Russian quickly. You'll find yourself hooked. Again, you don't have to be into the BDSM lifestyle to enjoy these books. This book is meant to be read alongside the Brie series by Red Phoenix, although Brie never appears in this book. This focuses on Rytsar during the time that he comes of age and takes over the head of the Durov family. We have learned things about Rytsar during other books, but this is a deeper journey into his background and life. We learn more about the prior events in his life including the loss of his one true love and how they have shaped the man he has become.
Although you could read this as a standalone (and you may want to since there are so many Brie books to catch up on), you of course will want to go back and learn more about all the characters in this series by reading all the books.

What a ride this book took me on, Red Phoenix has out done yourself on giving us more inside on Rytsar Durov life and what has made him the man he is today. She made me fall more in love with this sadist Russian that Is big job since I was very unsure about him ha.

You will want to read Bride's submission series and The rise of the Dominants also because it a amazing ride to meet all of these wonderful characters that you can't get enough of.
I hope you decide to try this book and all of the others to escape into the world of Dominat/ submissive I have really enjoyed learning about their life and world.

I have read ALL of Red's books and have been waiting patiently for Rystar's book on his early life. From the previous books you know his life hasn't been a walk in the park. Here we learn what happened the day his grandfather gave him the family ring and later his estate. His father's hatred, his brother's continued betrayal and how much the loss of his mother and his soul mate Tatianna changed his life. How his friends friends stood by him and helped him see he could make a difference in the world. His story will break your heart, make you cry yet lift you up. He can be caring yet a force to be reckoned with if you cross him. We get to see him in action when he visits the BDSM clubs in Russia and even a little out of the club. I enjoyed the story my only complaint would be it felt a little rushed and unfinished. I hope there will be another book that will let us know more.

Russian goodness.
Rytsar has been my favorite character all the way through the Brie submission series and when Red announced she was giving him his story I was over the moon. Now if you have read any of Brie’s story you know that he is a sadist with a flare for life. While I was surprised at the lack of bdsm and hot and sexy scenes in this book, I was moved to tears and have fallen even more I love with the big vodka drinking man! This story is so full of emotion and love and a sides to Rytar you just don’t see. His struggles should drowned him but is persistence to over come and make changes for the better warms me to my toes. Serious superb story telling. And I hope we see more of his journey and his successes in ridding the world of injustice and making sure those who are beat down rise up from the ashes. It’s just a beautiful story. Well done Red Phoenix!
Note. It does contain triggers such as human trafficking, suicide and spanking (just not as much as normal lol)

Oh Holy WOW readers!!! Get ready for this ride and you better have a tissue or two close by.
We all know the abuse Rytsar went through at the hands of his father and brothers. I mean, with a family like that who needs enemies. Right?? I'm telling you right now, you better hang on to your hearts as you read this deeper dive into his story. My emotions were all over the place and so many times I wished I could reach into my Kindle and slap a character or two, or three.
Plenty of steam too so have those towels ready also. We all know how the muses work through Red and this time they were working overtime!! So many emotions, family conflicts, sadness over his lost love and relief when he was able to help others. That's the Rytsar we all know and love.

In Russian Unleashed we learn a bit more of the beginnings of our favorite sadist (a phrase I never thought I'd write! Lol)
Red Phoenix once again graces us with a deeply compelling story about the background of Rytsar Dyrov and crafts a beautifully complex character at war with himself, the heritage he can't escape and the legacy he hopes to create. Rytsar is such a contradiction, he's a bullheaded Russian and a lighthearted young adult; he's a sadist and also a person who protects the innocent with his every breath; he's an incredibly loyal man whose had to cut off,or been cut off from, too many people in his life, etc. The author has penned someone you just can't help but feel for and feel with as his story unfolds. Rytsar operates with intense focus on his goal and honors the loves of his life so well. Wonderful book about my very favorite sadist and his friends!

I have loved Rystar from the start. He has a unique way about him. He is man who commands attention and demands respect. In this story you will discover what made him the man he is today and what drives him to do what he does. His story is a tragic heartbreaking tale that will leave you drained from the emotional rollercoaster that you just got off of. The story will also explain Rystar and his brothers relationship. I do like that Sir & Brad make appearances in the story as well as The Training Center where the Bree series start. I say this time and time again but this series and the glimpse into the characters lives is truly amazing and I'm so appreciative that the author has shared the wonderful world of each and everyone of them. Rystar is a favorite of mine and I think this was a excellent telling of who he was and what made him the man he became today. I highly recommend this one and the entire series!

Great Book
I have really enjoyed this book and Red Phoenix has done it again with Rytsar.
He is such a deep character and shows just because he is a sadist doesn’t mean he doesn’t love with everything he is and is loyal and kindhearted and a truly good friend.
I love the relationship between Rytsar and Thane and now understand how they are so close in Brie’s Submission storyline, and why Thane wanted Rytsar at Brie’s first auction.
His love for those close to him now and in his past is heartwarming.
I started this book today around lunchtime in UK and just finished it at 02:30 just couldn’t put it down.
I can’t wait for Her Sweet Surrender just can’t believe I have to wait until September, we’ll all good things come to those who wait.
