Reading this book, Second Chance, sent my heart on a roller coaster ride of both euphoria and despair with all its significant revelations at each turn of the page. I really enjoyed how each character grew to be someone unexpected of them; some showed growth while others showed a decline. Having felt a strong connection and emotion towards a story unrelated to my current life disposition is undoubtedly a sign of great literary work.

Merilee Briggs has a style of writing that makes even the most ordinary event turn into a heart-touching moment that will certainly move the reader, increasing the sense of connection between them. The development of the plot has a constant rise that makes readers question what will happen next. The lives of the characters are seamlessly put into place, a must-read!

I have read numerous books all throughout my life, and this is one of those that have provided me with a significant impact on what love is and how it affects people. The plot can be a direct reflection of the reality that is applicable for various individuals—providing enlightenment and possibilities. Every chapter unveils something unexpected, one that captures the hearts of readers to finish the story. What happened to whom? A common question that occurs to me each time I turn the page.

This book is about a woman who chose to live life differently, one that provides her fulfillment and happiness. It also showed the reality of abusive relationships through Emma’s fiancé, Scott. He turned his life upside down by committing an infidelity and placing the blame on others. It makes you want to know him more and the people around him, truly a whirlwind of different emotions!

Everyone who wants to learn about a new perspective of love must read this!

I want to point out that the book talks about modern-day issues that are relevant to both women and men, from going beyond societal norms to empowering women as equals of men. Women empowerment is not new to books written in today’s modern society, but it's still worth the highlight each time it is featured in great literary works. I love how it is portrayed by different characters because it increases the awareness of the readers.

The story is not very long, making its scenes direct to the point in establishing a connection to its readers. The lessons resonate deeply each time the characters make a judgment that will completely change the course of the story. You can find yourself attached to the book that you don’t even want it to end!

Merilee Briggs has connected events that are easily related to real life, a story where you can learn various lessons from the decisions and judgments made by the characters. The protagonist, Emma Morgan, has shown that choosing a career entirely different from what is expected of you is valid. Unexpected turns of events unfold as readers read deeper into the plot, making them want more because the scenarios can reflect reality.

The way the details are specifically described is exemplary, providing more imagery for the readers to follow through with the plot, making them feel as if they are living the story. This intimate connection with literary characters is only achieved through the skill and talent of writing embodied by the author. A book worth your time!

The story revolves around characters that defy what is seen as the standard in our society. It is more about choosing what we really want and where we can find fulfillment in doing those things. It started with Emma Morgan, who chose to become a photographer of a famous rock band and went on sabbatical from medical practice. The story continues when she decides to live a life unexpected for a woman like her. Each unfolding event makes me question, is it worth losing oneself over love?

Merilee Briggs wrote it in a way that gets readers hooked on the succeeding turn of events. It exemplified human emotion and showed how far a person could go for love. From breaking custom traditions to defying the expectations of society. A must-read for all!

This opened me to new perspectives of life!

If you are someone who finds love-related human behavior interesting, then this is a perfect book for you to read. This is a significant topic of discussion considering that modern-day society speaks highly of love, from the chosen career path to life in general.

Merilee Briggs' powerful writing made me smile, angry, confused, and hopeful all throughout the story. The book is deep on realizations of topics that concern life and second chances—that there is more to life than what is expected of you by society and the people around you. I highly recommend the book to all individuals, not just those who have experienced love. This book is impeccable, kudos to the author for pulling this off.
