Eileen Sheehan is an Award-Winning author of steamy romance thrillers for the mature adult. A professional psychic and holistic practitioner for over 30 years, the majority of her 60+ novels feature the paranormal, but some are novels about people in love and a very few are self-help. As the years progressed, so has her writing style. Although she still includes romance and strives for a happily ever after ending, her stories tend to have more mystery, thrills, and a touch of horror in them. Eileen makes it a point to write a novel length that will allow the busy readers to be able to enjoy the read in one or two evenings. Readers’ Comments “There were many things I liked about this book. I liked many of the characters and I thought it was cleverly plotted with plenty happening all the way to the end. It’s pretty graphic in parts, but that's OK - it's for adults! The cover is pretty mundane and a bit cringey; the author might want to improve it.” Male reader, aged 44 “In many ways, this reminded me of an adult Twilight, with plenty of vampire werewolf action to keep any fantasy/paranormal addict happy. The biggest problem is the tendency of the author to ‘tell’. A good example of this is the first chapter in which there's a lot of telling. This hurts the pacing little.” Female reader, age 51 “Rather dark in parts, with plenty of suspense in the second half. The author works with her characters well, and I think anybody looking for an adult Twilight will find this gripping. For the most part, the author’s a solid writer, although she tends to tell a lot particular in the beginning. Better to start with a bang!” Male reader, aged 32 “A dark, sexy and often rather gory fantasy. If that’s your sort of thing, you can’t go far wrong with this.” Female reader, aged 67
To Sum It Up: ‘A dark, paranormal adventure with strong characterization.’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards
I must be honest and say I have really mixed feelings about this book. It was a fantastic story and a really good read. It was gripping and I actually read it in one sitting - literally, on a plane, train and boat journey on my travels today. I couldn't put it down because I really engaged with the characters. The plot was gripping and there were some very unforeseen twists that left me reeling even after I'd finished the book. It was realistic in that it fit into the paranormal genre really well and even though I am not an expert in the genre, it matched up with a lot of other paranormals that I've read, which is always nice as it continues on the world building for the whole genre. The bit that's left me a bit in two minds... there are some REALLY heavy topics in this book including rape, coercion, intention to make a snuff film , miscarriage and mutilation and human (or werewolf) trafficking, and I think it should carry some warning as neither the cover or the blurb prepare you for the fact that this is actually a pretty dark romance. I did like it, and I don't mind being unsettled by literature, but a bit of a heads up would have been nice, so it's left me feeling a bit disturbed and I wasn't in the right headspace for it. Don't let that put you off though - I will definitely be reading the next book in the series, and I do think this is probably my favourite book in the paranormal genre so far because it's still set in some realism. I could relate to the main character, enough that I want to read more about her 'coming of age' so to speak as she discovers all her family secrets.
Who are Walter, Maryanne, and Josh? What happens just before Mary Jane's 16th birthday? When Mary Jane and her family move, where do they go to? Why? Josh is a little smart-ass for 13 years of age. Who is Kenton? How does Missy meet him? Who are Michael, Ethan, and Wally? WHere do they live? Who is Hap? When Hap is invited to dinner one night, what offer does he make to Missy? I find that I like Wally and Cindy, but definitely not Ethan. Not your typical PNR book, with only a little bit of an HEA, but definitely what happens leaves it open for book 2. My feelings on some of the characters shifted greatly from the beginning to the end of this book. When you read it, you will understand why. I could not put it down once I started reading!

This is a paranormal shifter/vampire/fae romance. Missy her mom and brother Josh move to a big country home left to them by her great grandmother after her parents divorce. There she meets new neighbors and tries to begin her new life. Though everyone warns her off the dangers of werewolves shes hesitant to believe since she comes from the city and knew them as myth. Soon there's no denying that creatures exist and she's thrust into the world of mythical creatures. But not all is as it seems. I think this is one of my favorite books by this author. There's alot going on but it all goes together smoothly and I couldn't put this book down because I had to know who was what and what would happen. Excellent book with all you'd hope to find and some surprises in a paranormal romance. Characters were well formed and the plot moved the book along quickly that before I knew it it was the end.
Overall I liked this book. It was an easy, fast-paced read and the author did a good job developing the characters. The sex scenes were mostly HOT, which I liked and the horror scenes decently gory.
The reason this got a 4☆ and not a 5☆ from me, was I felt there were many places where the author told the story rather than showing the reader. There were so many places where she wrote this happened and then this... and I'd much rather have experienced the story through the character's experiences and conversations. But, it was still an enjoyable read and you can never go wrong with sexy werewolves and vampires!
Missy Cramby seems very unaware when her mother takes her brother and her to the mountains to live. She is told about werewolves but decides not to believe it. When a pushy neighbor decides to make her his mate, she turns to Kenton Walters for help, not realizing he is a vampire! Is Kenton willing to keep her safe? When she finds out what he is, will she stick with him or quickly walk away from him as well?
Missy's family move to the country and her hot, steamy adventure begins. Similar to Twilight in having both a werewolf and a vampire involved, this story is definitely for the more mature reader and I would not recommend it for the YA audience. Family feuds, relationship challenges and the world and character building required to bring you into the story and leave you wanting the next book in the series.
This was a dark romance with some sexy scenes. The story moves at a good pace, the characters are well developed and it is very readable. Parts of it were a bit gory for me, however, I thought it was a good story and a page turner. If you enjoy stories about hot werewolves and vampires with some horror mixed in, you will love it!
For a dark paranormal romance A very interesting twist on family feuds. I believe the family dynamics are what I like in this book. On the new adult side, there are very steamy sex scenes and I loved those werewolves and vampires. The darker sides touch horror a bit but it's good. Quick pace great story!
Ok so starting out this story I thought this was going to be a typical young audience book. At one point I stopped reading and then gave it another chance. This story turned very dark! I am in total shock. I absolutely loved it! The story ended up being hot and thrilling. Cannot wait to start book 2.
Missy learns that werewolves, vampires and fae exist by unbelievable circumstances. This book has many dark elements that may be disturbing. Kima West did a great job narratoring this series.
