Not only is Hillsboro threatened but Jason’s family as well. Now it’s personal. In the fourth book of the action-packed “After the Fall” series Jason faces a deadly threat, to his family and to Hillsboro. He must deal with the enemy without any support or help in his high-risk mission. This suspenseful follow-up to “Rescue”, finds Jason Richards off on another dangerous adventure. Only this time he’s on his own. No one else can do what he has to do, so he must put himself in mortal danger and enter the enemy’s world on his own. He goes undercover on his mission, not knowing how it might affect him. What he has to do could corrupt his soul, but his family’s lives depend on him being victorious. Each day increases the risks for Jason. He tries to maintain his personal code of honor in the face of pressure to be something he is not, a man without a moral anchor in a chaotic world. Sometimes it seems only the ruthless survive and advance but Jason must prove them wrong. The risks keep growing as he embeds himself deeper with the enemy. Can he maintain his role or will he be uncovered and have to take overt action? He can unleash chaos if it’s called for, but can he control what he sets in motion? Jason thinks he’s the man for the job, but price to pay may be too high.
I highly recommend this series to fans of post-apocalyptic stories. The first book had a sexual scene and wouldn't recommend it for readers under 18 but, all other books were clean. The third book had significant errors but, still a good read. Loads of action. Realistic characters. Both good guys and bad guys were realistic. Plenty of survival information to learn from if you pay attention. I'll definitely be looking into more books by this author.
The series depicts 1 mans quest to right the world. Simply enjoyable to read. Gives insight to the potential that our world could 1day encounter. Not factual but enlightening, just the same. A simple peppers idea book to situations. Read, consider and digest the options that may save your life.
Recommend reading for information, situational and reactionary debate. You won't stop with just 1 book but will need to complete the series.
Loved the story, hated the errors everywhere. I was so distracted, I learned how to “click-n-hold” to highlight the errors I found. However, I’ve read that it’s pointless to do so. Is this true? I would hope they would fix it. I’m not sure if it’s Kindle’s errors or publisher or author’s errors. All I know is, it’s distracting when you’re enjoying a good book.
Great series! Good authors overcome predictability. I read 2 books per week as I am bored with TV. I enjoyed this immensely! The style and prose is super. 50+ years of creating and proofreading sales & marketing adds & documents makes makes me appreciate good work!
I love the main character, Jason. He is a man of principle and valor. In the crazy world after an EMP his main concern is the safety of his family. He is forced to take matters into his own hands against the mafia. Daring and suspenseful, you won't be able to put it down!
Society is only a thin vail and when the vail is removed, depravity takes its place. There is a great message in this series about taking care of those you love, and in doing so contributing to the greater good.
I am an avid reader of apocalyptic books . I have read some really well written series and I have to say that this series is one of the best written ones. Great read!!
Good story about teotwawki. Jason struggles with his own demons while trying to keep his family and friends safe in an ever ending chaos. Looking forward to more David Nees books.
I read all 4 novels nonstop. I hope theres a 5th installment. Believable characters, well thought out scenarios, a believable look into what life could look like in a post emp world
This book was not only interesting reading and introduced a glimpse of reality, a look at chaos and rights. The whole series was great reading but k think this book brought the whole series to a excellent conclusion.
Longer to read than the others in the series but easily enjoyable as any. Much philosophy but to good use and value to the tale. Excellent writing although there were several minor misses in the proofreading.
Strong characters. Great storyline. And plot. New story with each book that is interesting...not the same old elements. I liked the the inspiration provided by the monestary. All new characters and elements are integral to the story.
This is a fun series if you like dystopian / militaristic books. The stories get quite intense at times and you get sucked in. Since it's a series you know the eventual outcome but you can't quite figure out how Jason will pull it off. Looking forward to the next book.
These are some of the best stories of the apocalypse that I have read. I recommend them and this author to anyone who likes good what- if action thrillers.
This is where we say that the series 'jumped the shark'. The main character is John Wick, Rambo, Commando, and the conscience of the country all wrapped up into one. Bullets cannot reach him, and apparently infiltrating the mob as a trusted agent is accomplished by one swift butt whooping. The book is entertaining, but it is so unbelievable. There is no anti hero to combat our super assassin good guy, no yen to yang, something the author really missed out on with Roper. The character is 'undercover' and asks questions like a first grader of every bad guy he encounters. No one suspects a thing! He runs for 8 hours at time, with 5 min rests and then swims freezing rivers and is fine after he rings is shirt out. There are two words in the book, that I know where thesaurus words, there is no reason to be smarter than your reader, Sorry I didn't note them but they stick out terribly. Last, I am pretty sure his home town is Hillsborough, not Hillsboro. I looked on google and I cannot find the later anywhere around there. To end on a positive Mr. Nees introduces one new character that is a great addition to the story and I look forward to more Luke. I am happy I read the book, but let's get the story back on track, with a little more believability. This book is silly but still worth the read.
Very entertaining action series. Start with book #1 and follow sequentially.
The strength of this author is his characters. You get to know them and care for them. I like when the good guys win even if they often exhibit super human physical attributes in order to prevail. Family and loyalty to the "clan" is the theme that I admire in people. I enjoyed the books as an adventure without seeking reasons to criticize.
I have now, up to this point, read all of David Nees books. Overall, I have enjoyed them immensely, but if the author reads this review, please for the love of God, hire an editor or proof reader. There are multitudes of typos in all of his books. Fortunately, because the stories are well written and propel the page turning they can be mostly overlooked. An editor or proof reader would make them all 5 stars instead of 4.
Each book had so much potential leading up to book 4 of the series. I just could not get past all the obvious typos in the 4 books (that i wasnt even looking for) to be able to completely immerse myself fully into the story. The typos kept pulling me back out, leaving me frustrated after the author worked so hard to create these characters and stories. So my ratings for all never went past 3 stars. They deserved more!
Is Jason too much hero? In some cases I think so, in others more like real life. In the post apocalypse I think someone like him will be needed. Damn fine series.
