A failed assassin is a dead assassin…or so the rules which govern the Aveneaux Assassins’ Guild proclaim.
As a Guild member, Aribelle L’Angier knows her mission is dangerous, but some rules were made to be broken. The risk worth the sacrifice. When her attempt to assassinate East Angelían Agency member and rumored spy, Declan Cervantes goes decidedly sideways, she is taken on a journey back to the homeland she swore never to return to again.
The longer Declan is in Aribelle’s presence, the more he realizes she is far from what she seems. Objectives that should have been crystal clear blur the more is revealed of her secret agenda. A series of explosions near her looks as if her Guild might be close to exacting their revenge for her failure.

In this story we get to know Delcan and learn a little more about him and how he became the nearly immortal man. We also get to know the assassin who was sent to kill him but ended up falling in love with him.
The kidnapping of a chemist and then his daughter is taken brings to light a conspiracy to over throw the queen. When the chemist's daughter is left on her mother's doorstep dead it angers Delcan and the assassin and they kick into gear and solve who is behind the plot.
Exciting - did not want to put the book down!

I have been reading the series since last year, I'm hooked! I've loved every book! That's all I'm saying, you must read the whole series yourself and you'll be very happy too!

This has been a great series!! I've read and loved all the books in the Crown & Country series! I so wish more readers would latch onto this authors books, they are truly wonderful reads!
Declan Cervantes, being an agent of HRH Queen Vittoria and an immortal, he's had many women. But when he comes face to face with the lovely Royal Assassin Aribelle L'Angier he sees her much more than a Guild Member.....trying to do him in....as if that could happen.
Aribelle finds herself back in the country of her birth, East Angelia and under the protection of the handsome Cervantes. With the two working together, along with the Menagerie, to solve the kidnapping of a chemist and the unsolved murders of several women.
My guess is this is not the last we will hear from these amazing characters. I see off shoot series coming soon for some of the secondary characters in this series. I've so thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself into this series and recommend the Crown & Country series to those who share a love for romance, suspense, murder and intrigue rolled up into one wonderful series!
