This manga is basically everything I wanted from the anime and never got until now.
The banter, the relationships, the details, the general dorkiness coupled with suspense that we all love in a Persona game - I could not have asked for a better representation of what the Phantom Thieves' daily life must be like in late October/early November.
More please!

I was hesitant to read this series for two reasons. One: it's a spin-off of Persona 5 as opposed to an adaptation; I didn't have high hopes for a spin-off. Two: I've read other Persona series published by Udon - namely Persona 3 and Persona 4 - and was disappointed.

Persona 5: Mementos Mission, even after just one volume, has impressed me greatly. It places the reader in the middle of the story of Persona 5, with characters you may already know and love. However, it could still be read by a newcomer; there are helpful character introductions and a story separate from the main game. Amazingly, it does all this without spoiling major events from the game. Mementos Mission could very well be your first (or only) experience with Persona 5.

Weirdly, when it comes to graphic novels, art doesn't make much of an impact in my rating. I'd still like to mention that the art in this book is great. It does justice to the characters, and it can be cute or fun when appropriate. Plus, I like the art style.

This first volume presents the mystery the rest of the series with follow. Even though the game involves quite a few mysteries, it doesn't feel like a ripoff or lazy continuation of the story. There's even a character I don't recognize, and adding this character doesn't feel artificial. Unfortunately, I can't remember her name.

Like a lot of manga, there are these little funny moments that add a lot of charm. In this sense, Mementos Mission is very reminiscent of the game. There's a lot of personality in these goofy arguments between friends, even if they seem unimportant on their own.

So far, there are three volumes of Mementos Mission. I hope more are written, because I want to keep reading it. I'm about to read the second, and it's sad to think I'll be more than halfway done soon. However, I'll accept that things sometimes come to an end.

Finally, there's an apology I'd like to make. At the start of the review, I compared this series to other Persona manga series. I try to avoid dissing other books in my reviews, but I felt it was important this time. I'm sorry. It's nothing personal.

if you couldnt tell from my pfp i love mementos mission a lot. rokuro saito does an amazing job at the art as always >_< i'd highly reccomend you read this after you're done with the game or you have a good understanding of how the game works cuz this takes place after all the phantom thieves have been introduced! and no one wants spoilers for cool characters like the ones in the p5 universe!
even if u dont like p5 the art itself is so beautiful so its worth a read! and ren is so handsome and funny and catboyish as always haha what's p5 content without ren making cat puns !! anyway yes i love them a lot and i love this

6/5 ⭐
5 stars because It was amazing +1 star because I love persona so much.
This was such a good read, and this was like my first persona merch that I have even bought before the game (which, hopefully, I am getting it this summer) and I will definetely buy the other volumes.
The character dynamics were put on so beautifully, it was a fun and a dynamic read, I also liked the plot so much and the artstyle is just yum!

A promising start. I am impressed by how naturally the author interspersed the video game elements, and I really like how a decent amount of the book focuses on Ren's struggles to balance his job, schoolwork, and vigilantism. It's something that the video game completely ignores, and while I understand why, I'm glad that the author used his medium to flesh out the PTs in a way that the video game couldn't.

There was a bit of reliance on manga tropes that I am not a fan of, but I can let it slide as long as it doesn't get worse. The characters do mostly feel like an accurate extension of their game selves, and lots of little character quirks from the game are present here: Makoto's obsession with Buchimaru, Akechi trying (and failing) to bum food off of Sae, Morgana's bad luck with sushi...this was clearly written by someone who loves the game a lot.

And while there hasn't been much action yet, I do like that they're focusing on the criminal underbelly of Shibuya post-Kaneshiro. It was always something I had wondered about, and it's a very natural place to add a bit more story.

I LOVE THIS. The art style is great (Akechi is suuuuuper cunty) and I’m hooked on the various plot threads going on!!! This gives much more personality to the friendships and just the characters in general than the main persona 5 manga, which is nice! I’m glad to have more content of these characters I grew to love over my 100+ hours playing the game. Realistically there was no need for the sad Akechi moment at the end tho was there

Persona 5: Mementos Mission is the first manga that I've read, picking it up as a fan of the game and reading how it has a separate story. After getting used to how to read it (like I said, a beginner) I enjoyed reading the story and the characters interacting more in their day-to-day lives rather than what is seen in the game.

The artwork was good and the characters fitted their game selves really well. Looking forward to buying the next in the series soon!

PERRRRRSONA

Persona 5 The Mementos Mission by Rokuro Saito is for fans of the anime and the game. It is a manga (Japanese graphic novel) that follows characters such as Ren, Ryuji, Morgana, Haru, Ann, and Yusuke.

I am a fan of the anime and the games, so I'm biased when I rate it 5/5.

It follows the cast of characters solving cases like a clinic selling poison. And people are poisoning famous people.

It's for 18+. That's it.

Perfect follow-up to the Persona 5 game with amazing art and spot-on characterization that feels very faithful to the original, while indulging in "side quest" type storylines that build on the game's larger narrative. I loved the little details that referenced the game, including panels that looked like the All-Out Attacks, and the claw machine prizes in Ren's room. Did I mention I love the art?

This manga is fun! It’s nice to see the characters outside of the main storyline doing everyday stuff, and the art style is GORGEOUS. My one complaint is the story can jump around quite a bit, which I think definitely reflects the protagonists hectic life, it just gets a little confusing sometimes for a slow guy like me. But I’m overall intrigued and will definitely pick up the other two volumes at some point :)

This is exactly what I’d want out of a manga companion to the P5 video game. I love how much we see of the characters’ day-to-day lifestyles that weren’t shown in the game. The art is wonderful, and there are plenty of funny moments!

Knocked the first book of the year out after needing a break from nonfiction reading. 👍🏼

EEEEEEEE! SCREAMING! CRYING! I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! The art style, the storylines, the layout, even the fan service I'm OBSESSED. I took so many photos of the pages as I was reading and was so happy to indulge myself in some extra Persona 5 after completing the base manga, the game, the anime and reading through the art book. I'm P5 trash through and through.

probably biased about this since i just finished the video game two days ago but this was just so fun and i loved reading it. everything is so cleverly woven together and im so amazed that i found a spinoff really good bc i usually don't do spinoffs. it was everything.

A really fun look into the daily life of the Persona 5 protagonist and the shenanigans that he and the rest of the Phantom Thieves get up to. As a fan of Goro Akechi, I enjoyed him also being featured in the story.

Definitely recommending this to anyone who likes Persona 5!

Good character interactions. Stellar art. Nice tie-ins to the vanilla P5 story and confidants. Unfair by having Ren have a godly six pack and makes liberal use of it. Also excellent use of Ren’s glasses for swapping tones from ‘we’re silly teenagers’ to ‘we’re a nationally hunted crime group’.

Basically more slice of life plus mystery of Persona 5 that has a pretty good 3 volumes. I feel it was good through out, then finished extremely quickly in the 3rd Volume.

Feels a lot like a fan fiction taking place during the original story, but it does not add enough new content
