Tiny Blessings #5

Her Christmas Wish

Rate this book
To: Uncle Eli

From: Olivia

Dear Uncle Eli,

I don't think Daddy is getting me what I really want for Christmas—a mommy. He's been sad since Mommy died, and I want him to be happy again. And ever since Leah, my new nanny, came to stay, he's been smiling more. She's really nice. She makes cookies with me and takes me to church. I think Leah is perfect for us. I told him he should marry her, but he's busy with his carpentering stuff. Maybe he'll listen to you? Tell him my Christmas wish is to have Leah with us, ALWAYS.

Kathryn Springer grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, where her parents published a weekly newspaper. As a child, she spent many hours sitting at her mother’s typewriter, plunking out stories, and credits her parents for instilling in her a love of books – which eventually turned into a desire to tell stories of her own.

After a number of busy years, when she married her college sweetheart and became a stay-at-home mom, Kathryn rediscovered her love for writing. An unexpected snow day from school became the inspiration for a short story, which she submitted to Brio magazine. She went on to publish over a dozen more short stories for Brio, but it wasn’t until her youngest child started school that she decided to pursue her dream to write a book. In August 2004, her Love Inspired® debut novel, Tested by Fire, was published.

Fast forward to today and Kathryn has written over thirty novels. She lives on a lake in northern Wisconsin where she enjoys long walks in the woods and the change of seasons (although sometimes she wishes the "change" between winter and spring didn't last quite so long!) When she isn’t at the computer, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends, paging through cooking magazines or sitting in the sun. A really, really good day includes all three! If you want to know more, follow her blog Table Grace. . .thoughts and musings on living a life with nothing artificial added.

Do 60 year old nanny's get to retire ? Ben doesn't think they should especially when it's the nanny that has been caring for his daughter, Olivia since her birth 7 years ago . His wife was unable to have a child so they adopted a newborn baby from an agency, sadly his wife died shortly after her birth. The nanny left and Ben had no replacement for her . When he called the agency for a replacement a young lady is sent to his house. He's pretty unsure of her experience so he temporarily hires for a month trial period. Unknown to him his new nanny, Leah has given a child up for adoption to the same agency when she was a teen and it turns out to be his daughter . He doesn't know it's his new nannys daughter . She wants the opportunity to be around her daughter and is afraid if she mentions that it's her daughter he'll tell her to leave. When he finds out that it's her daughter and she hasn't told him he feels betrayed by her and tells her to leave . By this time they have developed feelings for each and ,Olivia adores her and wants her for a mommy. Ben asks Leah to marry him and Olivia is so happy to have her for her mommy.

This is a good book. I did not know it was in a series though, and the ending left me hanging. I enjoyed the characters though.

The two main characters in this book, Leah and Ben were introduced to the readers earlier in the series, and to be honest, especially with Ben, I thought the series would take a different turn than it did. That's not to say that I didn't like the way it turned out, even if it was a little 'predictable'. Ahh well, more of the mystery that's been building since book 1 has been revealed, and it looks like the final piece will be given in the next book. I'm looking forward to that!

The 5th book in Tiny Blessings had my eyes weeping more then the previous 4 which I went through plenty of kleenex with them as well!

Leah and Ben's story is great as were the previous 4 stories. I can't wait to read the next book.

It's such a sweet book. It was a little predictable, but I loved the plot. I hurt when the characters hurt and smiled when they were happy. Great book!
