As the only one of his clan with a godlike power over human minds, Yamanu has been shielding his people for centuries, but that power came at a steep price. When Mey enters his life, he’s faced with the most difficult choice.
The safety of his clan or a future with his fated mate.
As with each book I thoroughly enjoy reading about the characters and how the books develop to bring new characters into the series I enjoy how the author leaves little hints in each book about future characters that come into the series I recommend this book and the entire series 100% five stars all the way
I expected a little more action. There was a raid and there were no details. After all the anticipation for the raid, I feel it fell completely short on any action. It was over in less than 5 minutes and there were no battles spoken of. That was such a disappointment. So much more could have been done with more details and battles etc. Yamanu seeks Kian's advice. We get to hear his entire story and why he is celibate. Very heartbreaking story and I can totally see why Yamanu has chosen to remain celibate all these centuries. Kian gives him his options but the decision is ultimately Yamanu's. Yamanu is indecisive as to whether to give up his celibacy for Mey, his fated mate, or to keep his celibacy for his clan's protection. Annani steps in and gives him the advice and guidance he desperately needs. I was very disappointed in I.T. Lucas for not even remembering her own character's names. We have not heard anything about Fernando (Nathalies father) in a very long time. Once they all moved to the village, there has never been not one mention of Fernando. He had to always be watched over and yet, they are going to dinners and never a mention of where Fernando is. Needless to say that in one of the chapters where they speak about Ruth working at the cafe, the name of the cafe is completely wrong - It is called Nathanial's Cafe - Where the heck did that name come from? It is Fernando's Cafe. So upsetting that a character that was the obstacle of Nathalies love life has become so nonexistent that the name isn't even remembered and given an entirely new name out of nowhere. Was this a mistake? It obviously is if you are paying any attention and know Nathalie and Eva's stories. If we are not going to ever touch on Fernando again, the least that can be done is kill the guy off already. There were so many things that just didn't sit well with this book. Mey was automatically welcomed into the village instead of the Keep before transitioning. Why was it so easy to allow Mey into the village when all others had to go through the keep first and then transition before being allowed to step foot into the village? There wasn't much caution given in this scenario at all. I'm happy for Yamanu finding his fated mate. I hope he is still able to maintain his powers. I look forward to the next in this trilogy.
This is a paranormal romance and is the thirty-third in the Children of the God series and is the second in the Dark Queen trilogy. Yamanu and Mey have decided that they are mates, but can not necessarily agree whether transitioning is the best because clan. Does the needs of one out weigh the needs of the many--when it comes to Yamanu's powers? So many questions, another well done book Isabell.
Lokan and Carol are doing well. Kian still distrusts him. Lokan is still on the fence about his loyalties but has provided some god intel to the clan.
Mei is brought to the village. Yamanu makes a decision about his vow. Mei makes friends with the First Ladies.
The government paranormal division just may be a real thing. More and more evidence of its reality is brought forth.
Alena is still in NY, but we didn’t hear anything about her or her progress this entire book. Mei didn’t even call her once.
Kian needs to step down. He’s arrogant and doesn’t really listen to others besides Syssi, Turner and maybe Bridget. He acts like he’s in charge of the entire clan and not just the American branch. He gets information that should be reported to Annani ASAP but he doesn’t, like his decision is the end all be all.
Syssi is having some weird premonitions but thinks they are hallucinations, cuz she’s dumb. Instead of asking Annani, she dismisses it. Mei had a dream about the Odus last book, but I don’t recall her sharing it with anyone. Speaking of the Odus, they have been acting strange lately…showing more human traits after Okidu’s reboot.
See my notes and highlights on Goodreads. Happy reading!
Im enjoying this series it gets a little repetitive but that’s to be expected with this kind of series. What I’ve enjoyed is the different perspective of characters/couples but then you’ll get to come back to the POV of a previous character. Usually in this kind of book series it gets dull by now or the story is the same with different names but this one isn’t like that, the story picks up where the last one ends but usually with a different main character. If you love series because the story never fully ends you’ll love this. It’s like reading a TV series. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star is because I only give a 5 star if I plan to reread the book/series and I love this series but I don’t see myself rereading it but I would recommend it to friends or book lovers. These books have spice but it’s not overly done and there is more to the story then what’s happening in the bedroom.
Dark Queen’s Knight KU 289 pgs *** 7/26/21 Yamanu & Mey
This story is still quite boring. Even the Doomer thing wasn’t that exciting since there wasn’t any real detail in the skirmish. Getting frustrated with Yamanu and his vow of celibacy too. He doesn’t even know what will happen if he breaks the vow. I miss Lokan and Carol, their story was great. Annani was great with Yamanu and helped him make his decision about his vow and his abilities. I’m not sure why the title is Dark Queen. I do love getting to see all my favorite characters in most of the books.
Another great addicting installment to The Children of the Gods series!! Cannot wait to read more as I'm binge reading to catch back up. I.T. Lucas has created an amazing group of characters that you cannot help but to become attached to and a plot that keeps you coming back for more!
I find the character of Mey very annoying and rather full on in declaring her love for someone who has found out all this new information in just a couple of weeks.
Some parts were a little laughable (silk scarves) and the eventual coupling was rather lacklustre. I did like we saw some development in the kalugal storyline and I'm interested to see where that and the government story goes.
Continuing this journey with Y. I am so glad that his listened to Clan Mother. Honestly I was feeling like Mey and about to scream. Luckily Clan Mother talked some sense into him. Glad that Lokan and Carol are still happily in love. Read On!
I Love this series, you really get to know each character in the clan. You know it’s a good series when you talk about the characters like they’re someone you know personally.
Would you give up all that you thought you were for love? Can or would you risk the security of the clan for love? Or will you listen to a goddess and have the best of both worlds?? Off to the next book to find out.
I love Mey & Yamanu! Yet another couple I’m rooting for. Neither of them were looking for love, but fates decreed otherwise. Powerless to resist Mey, Yamanu feels drawn to her. Is he going to give up his celibacy vow for Mey? How is he going to protect the clan? Love it!

Dark Queens Knight (Children Of The Gods Book 33) by I T Lucas. The Clan attacks a building full of Doomers but the attack doesn’t go as planned.Yamanu has decides to forego his celibacy and begin Mae’s transition.
This book was a little slow and dragged out compared to the others. It was definitely more difficult to stay engaged. Not a bad story, Just lacking in intensity.
Wow! This was another good book. I liked how I.T sets the scene up for the next book. I like Yamanu’s character because he is a selfless person. You pretty much know how the story is going to end because all the dormants transitions. But, it is fun reading on how they finally get there.
I can't tell if I. T. is just an author or a genius author! I'm gonna go with the latter. Her skill and intrigue as well as her romance and suspense are a never before seen skill that impressed me from page 1 book 1 all the way through to this book and I'm quite sure even further! Amazing!
...But we're still left hanging! I guess that's one way to guarantee that readers will get the next book ...
First, the stuff I did like: I love Yamanu and Mey and I can't wait for all of this to be settled...Is Met truly a Dormant? If Yamanu attempts her transition--breaking his vow of celibacy--will he lose his "god-like" abilities? My only hope is that, like these last two books, the next one (Dark Queen's Army) will drop before the due date of December 7th.
Now, the stuff I didn't like: there seemed to be quite a bit of useless filler. The chapter with Nick and Ruth, Sylvia and Roni, and Ella and Julian all having dinner together didn't really serve any purpose. Was there another way to hint at a possible connection between Ella's paternal aunt and Mey's sister, Jin, without taking up so much space? And the back-and-forth, will he/won't he with Yamanu's decision...it was a little too much and another waste of e-book real estate.
The final things I liked: Lokan displays his loyalty to the Clan, even though it challenges his loyalty to the Brotherhood. (I LOVE Lokan!) And it's possible that the search for Kalugal will take place much closer to home than anyone thought...and what is Kalugal actually up to? (This alone would have me salivating waiting for the next book!)
I don't recall any of the other series going beyond three books, so all of my questions about Yamanu and Mey will be answered soon... but there are still so many other questions bubbling to the surface. (Will we ever find out if Khiann, Annani's beloved, comes back like Wonder did? Hmm...)
Yamanu and Mey’s story is sweet and endearing. The dilemma they face is a difficult one. Loved Annanni and her advise and admonishments were exactly what was needed. Yamanu changed his perspective in the way he was looking at the issue of shielding his clan or having Mey as his mate. We need to face change in our lives to learn and grow. Yamanu had essentially kept himself stuck in the same perspective what over six hundred years. Can’t wait to read the next book to discover if he gets to have it all, meaning Mey and his God like powers as a shield for the clan. The new developments with Kalugal and the other possible dormant secret group is so exciting. Another stunning story!!
Dark Queen's Knight is more of Yamanu and Mey's amazing story. Yamanu has been a favorite character in the series for a long time. As expected his story was filed with fantastic information about who he is and how he became the shield of the clan. Mrs. Lucas didn't disappoint with his storyline. Mey is perfect for him. She has such a strong belief in family and herself that she totally understand Yamanu and the choices he's made. I can't wait to see what happens next. To see how Mey's transition moves forward. I'm looking forward to learning more about her sister Jin and how she'll be found. The Fates have been good to the clan...May they continue to bless them. Hats off to Mrs Lucas and her ability to mix mythology and her unique imagination.
