3 Grudges That Ruin Us Stars ⭐

Mel was the girl he left behind so that he could pursue his dreams as a writer. Except Logan didn't realise he had left more than his heart with her. As for Mel, she's had ten years of seperation to allow her resentment to fester.

"He pulls her into him, and she is so tiny—wrapped up in his arms like this. He presses his nose to her hair, breathing her in—and it’s been years, it’s been a lifetime since this was his norm—but it feels like it was hours ago. Minutes, even."

The boy who left, is now the man who wants to steal back her heart. When by chance they cross paths at a conference, their traitorous hearts will allow them one night of passion. Where Logan was hoping for a new beginning, Mel had other ideas.

"He wonders how he’s made it so long without this."

An olive branch extended by Logan sees them working together on his PR campaign for six weeks. Although Mel is irrate at being manipulated into doing this, it will be a welcome boost for her career. Whereas Logan sees this as his final opportunity to woo her back.

Branded initially captured my attention even though the entire story was spoken in third person which felt odd at times. The writing was refreshing, passionate and tinged in desperation. You could feel the love of these two tingling, even though Mel was hurt and guarding secrets. The regret was tangible. Yet as the story progressed I felt frustrated. Annoyed that two adults with so much history couldn't revisit their issues. That Mel was completely opposed to the idea when she still loved him and hadn't been truthful. No spoilers, BUT those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...

Hot, funny and sweet, everything you want in your contemporary romance.

I'm not usually a fan of contemporary romance but this was all kinds of wonderful. So hot and genuinely funny with likeable, multi-layered characters. Can't wait to read more from this author!

Thanks to the author for gifting me a free copy of this book! I entered this giveaway because I was absolutely drawn in by the beautiful cover. I still love it, it’s gorgeous.

This is definitely not my favorite genre, but I did enjoy this book. I liked that the main characters had been high school sweethearts who hadn’t seen each other in 10 years, I thought that was a pretty clever way of getting around the “instalove” that is so common in romances today. I also really liked the concept of the main guy being a famous author (who writes some really awesome sounding sci fi and fantasy books, honestly I think I’d love to read those books!) and a lot of the story taking place on his book tour. This was a pretty great setting, although it was just a side story to the romance. Other than that it was a pretty typical romance, nothing super wowing or unique. The middle part is pretty much 100% focused on nothing but the romance, so romance lovers will love it. The end “twist” was glaringly obvious to me from the very first chapter, and there were too many hints that were not nearly subtle enough. But I do think it was handled realistically.

I read this book all in one afternoon, it totally sucked me in. The writing was great and easy to read. I liked the characters and found myself constantly wanting to read it. I’ll give this one a solid 3.5 stars because although it’s not my favorite genre, I did enjoy it.

Ok, so, now that I know it's supposed to be a fanfiction, It makes SO much more sense. Because the whole time I was like "I've read this fanfic on AO3 so many times before"
It has all the usual plots:
- high school sweathearts
- he left her behind
- she got pregnant and never told him about their son
- they see each other after 10 years

It was boring, they keep saying that they were stupid when they were 18.
Well, guess what? Everybody is stupid when they are 18, snowflake.

The couple barely had chemistry, I wanna know why they falled in love when they were young, I wanna know how, I wanna read it and not only get throw it at my face. I wanna feel the connection. I didn't feel any, unfortunately, I even skipped their sex scenes.

I wanna tell the writer that she has so much potential, and that she should focus on the good reviews. Maybe I'm just a bitch. You can work on somethings, manly on the couple and on their chemistry, and showing them their love and just not telling us.
I feel like your writing is growing, and in the future I'm gonna love other things you write.

Branded, A Contemporary Romance, by Courtney Lorin

5-Stars

Branded by Courtney Lorin was steamy and romantic. Melanie thinks her past is behind her until she runs into her high school sweetheart Logan. She is forced to work with him after being offered an unbelievable opportunity. Logan wants to reignite things but Mel holds off. She has secrets and hasn’t forgiven him for the pain he caused in the past. A lot can change in ten years but will Logan still seek her heart after discovering her secrets?

This is a new author for me and I was very impressed with her work. She provides excellent detail to her characters making them realistic and relatable. The dialogue between characters was easy to distinguish and organized. I enjoyed the flow of this story and how easily it pulled me in. The author invokes readers emotions in one scene toward the end which had me wiping tears from my eyes. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to see what her future has in store.

Very sweet and an honest HEA

I love when authors are able to incorporate things that I love in refreshing and modern ways. I love hand kisses, and hair twirls, and lovers to enemies to lovers again. There's something that's just so honest here that it hurts when you see characters making the same mistake you would. I finished in a day and it was a very satisfying conclusion

Still better than TRoS

I found this novel from Twitter, and found this to be great escapism for most of the book. However, the last plot twist really took me out of it, though I'm sure others would enjoy it. Still a very fun read!

Branded, go and BUY

Here is my second attempt at a review. Did yall know you cant post a link that's not from Amazon in a review? I did not.

Anyways, as a long time fan of Courtney (very weird to call her that) I was thrilled to read this. I love me some second chance romance. And the usual hotness from her storytelling. So go, buy, read, and leave your review at the door.
