If someone offers you to make a few quick and easy bucks, there's got to be a catch somewhere. A seemingly trifling quest in the virtual world of Waldyra is an excellent opportunity to earn some money, right? It's just that things never quite work out that way.
Rostislav Grokhotov does not want to become anyone's pawn. Therefore, his unexpected acquisition makes him ponder his own goals. Having become the sole owner of a unique spell coveted by top-ranking clans, he no longer wants to go with the flow. That way would only lead to ruin and obscurity. He'd need to go all in—and to have a good plan. With several more contingency plans for good measure.
What are the opportunities available to someone in the possession of a unique spell capable of dispelling the veil over the unexplored continent of Zar'Graad? What is the mystery of the legendary Silver Legend set of armor? And what exactly is the game played by the Albatross clan that has hired him? Those are but the first few questions bothering Rostislav, on his way to become a legend in the game world of Waldyra.

Re-Translated book 2 wasn't done as well as book 1. Felt very similar to the original series.
Lots of regionalisms escaped through and there are sections where things were translated literally as opposed to colloquially as it's normally supposed to be done. There were quite a few words on here that I had to pull up to make sure they weren't just made up.
First, my review: “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
Over the past year it has become apparent that my reviews are somewhat antagonistic and I apologize to those of you that have taken offense. I think I had hoped to change peoples’ minds about reviewing works of art and that seems to have backfired spectacularly. However, I am still going to be true to myself and write what I believe.
To the author: Thank you for this chance to escape reality and enjoy the world you created! Keep up the good work.
To my fellow reviewers: Messaging me and reviewing my reviews is as productive as trying to shovel water out of the ocean. Stop. I get it. Let’s just all live peacefully.
To potential readers: Art needs to be experienced at an individual level. You are the only one that can determine what you like and don’t like. Don’t let others make that decision for you. You should definitely read the book and completely ignore all of the reviews. You are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.
What happens when virtual world activities spill over into the real world. How will you take things on when peoples lives get threatened.
A larger unpacking of the protagonist happens here and a possible romantic direction with a twist coming towards the end of the book.
Things are not what they seem and our MC is not an ordinary bum . We have a possible John Wick before his dog died scenario here and if you are into the 'face slapping' genre , I believe the future books are going to set it up.
A very interesting read and looking forward to the next one. Whenever it come on Storytel.
This book follows on from the previous one and gives us more insight into the characters background.
It’s not all based in the game and you have real life events. If there was a game like this in real life I’d pretty much want to stay on the side of the Russian players.
Also I like that the admins are involved in the game as many stories don’t have them or they are just tech support.
I devoured this in a day which makes me feel it was a little short.
But otherwise a solid read and can’t wait for the next one.
Holy crap this series is better than I expected. We learn more about the real world lives and back stories of some of these characters as well as more about the intricacies of the game world. There's intrigue, betrayal, and some real believable humanity of some side characters. I'm starting the next entry immediately.
P.S For those seeing this after finishing this entry ... Are you as angry at a certain strategist as I am?
However it’s slow and some of the plot at the end was predictable. However the very end was not. Which redeemed much of the book.
The author likes to add stuff that never gets touched on. Accomplishments really are pointless but the author always calls them out for unknown reasons.
So in the end not bad not great so go ahead and read it.
The translation is weaker. A lot more confusion as I tried to parse phrases.
MC still thinks the item can be stolen. Clearly says in the first book that it cannot.
The ‘real world’ stuff...it’s just distracting. Honestly a bit boring, since I have no idea what is going on. A lot of cultural stuff that doesn’t translate well.
when i first discovered litrp i read some stories by d rus. the two books have reminded me of the enjoyment i first experienced. an enjoyable read with a russian mindset.
The world building and character development really pick up in this book. I felt it move a lot quick then the first but maybe it’s because the fight scenes had me on every word. On to the next book.
This book was one of the few sequels that I enjoyed better than the first book in a series. The main character received some depth of character and background that I felt they desperately needed. I'm looking forward to the next in series
Not nearly as good as the first. Dialogue in this was horrid and the ending dragged. Mikhailov would really benefit from an editor who can localize the translated idioms... and, you know, editing...
Book 2 in this LitRPG fantasy series about an online virtual reality game. My understanding is that this series was originally written in Russian and overall it is translated well but I have noticed some typos and oddities here and there. I'm still enjoying the series.
