At twenty-three, all Adelaide has ever known is a society ripped apart by the virus. Though billions died, the freshly minted Cure is bringing the world back into balance. For once, she can think about moving out and falling in love, and not just about surviving the dead.

Jack, Addy’s dad, decides to help the mayor with security rather than kick around his empty nest by himself. But when Jack uncovers a mystery more deadly than the infected appearing in the village, his need to solve it gets him framed for a crime he didn't commit and abducted.

Adelaide sets out to save her dad, dragging her brother and his handsome boss with her. If Addy wants to seek out the life she deserves, she must save her dad from forces that dwarf them both and face her fear of everything but zombies.

The first part of a trilogy, "Reclamation" is for readers who love character-driven literary sci-fi like "Station Eleven" and coming-of-age stories like "The Last of Us," with a healthy splash of adventure and romance. Plus zombies!

Bethany grew up in the South, transplanted to the West, and has visited just about anywhere in between. She’s got a day job, and a family, and at night she writes.

Her favorite author is Stephen King, and she owes more than she can explain to Supernatural. No matter the medium, storytelling has held her in thrall for decades. She enjoys travelling down the road of the macabre, but mainly in order to discover the beauty hiding within the human spirit when it is pushed beyond normal boundaries. We face the monsters on the page so we can face the darkness within ourselves, and come out the other side of them both as changed people.

I adore Bethany Perry's writing. Adelaide is relatable and likeable. This story covers all the points from humorous moments to tears and everything in between. If you love horror, romance, action, drama, and following the struggles of people that think like you would in a post society collapse, then this is the book you need to be reading.

This is an extremely well written book in a very exciting series. The story takes place in post apocalyptic America about a family just trying to survive. The characters are very well written and the story is awesome! The story flows well and will leave you on the edge of your seat just waiting to find out what happens next. After reading Reclamation, you feel as though you really know the characters in real life, as if they were real people. I would recommend this book to everyone, even people who don't particularly like zombie stories, because this series is about so much more than zombies. After reading it, I bought 3 copies! One for myself, and 2 to give away to friends and family!

This book is a hell of a good time. The characters are charming and multi-faceted, the world is unique (no mean feat for a zombie book), and it has a few curve balls to throw at you as the central mystery unfolds. Perry has an effortless style and a zany sense of humor that will make the messed-up stuff that you have to expect from a horror story hit all the harder when it comes.

Highly recommended if you like character-driven stories, especially if you're a fan of zombies and want something that feels fresh while adhering to the classic Romero style.

This was definitely a roller coaster and I loved every minute of it. The characters are extremely relatable, and the imagery is beautiful. I need more of these characters in my life.

this was superb! the author really makes you care about the main characters while telling a compelling story. there were some twists and turns that kept me turning the pages, but not so many that I was left dumbfounded at how we got here. the zombie stuff was descriptive and gross, I loved it! and the little bit of romance?! my cold dark heart was brought to life!

Heart pounding, hair raising, keep me up until 3 in the morning because I HAD to know what happened next first installment of a 3 part series. If you are looking for realistic zombies, characters to love, and characters you are cheering to take a machete to the face, I highly recommend picking this series up!

Excerpt:

Between the cabinets and countertop, all she could see of Dean was a stiff torso wearing a pea green Army-issue jacket. He fidgeted and cleared his throat.

She leaned down onto the bar, head beneath the cabinets.

Those green eyes turned to her again.

“You can come in here if you want. I’ll just be a few.” Getting two dishes out for the nameless cat, she filled one with water. Turning to set them in the floor, she ran the bowl directly into Dean’s midsection.

She gasped, water flying.

“Whoa,” he said, holding his hands out.

She grabbed the towel hanging over the side of the sink and patted his shirt dry. “Where did you come from? Why were you standing so close? I—” She paused, looking up. “Oh crap, I’m so sorry.”

He smiled.

It was far sunnier than she’d imagined it would be.

“It’s OK, Adelaide. Here.” He took the towel, drying his face. “You do…whatever it is you were doing. It’s my fault.”

Glancing down, she noticed she’d even managed to soak his boots with cat water.

Such an amazing story. Not my usual genre but I was hooked in the first chapter. So glad I picked up this book so I could join Adelaide, Jack, and friends on their journey.
