Number 17: Fall

Rate this book
One in a series of humorous short stories about Jonothan Byrne, an Intensive Care Paramedic responding to emergencies in Brisbane, Australia (4,344 words). The books can be read in any order as the number in the title refers to the codes used to dispatch ambulances:
Jono bumps into an old mentor, Slim, who works on one of the high acuity rapid response vehicles. It’s a role that Jono aspires to, but he’s yet to attain more than a few sporadic shifts. As Jan points out, perhaps all he needs is a personality transplant. While she leaves Jono to contemplate the positives of his job, they’re dispatched to yet another patient who’s fallen over. But does this latest case truely belong within the ‘lot of crap’ category?

Harry Colfer is the pseudonym of a critical care paramedic who lives and works in Brisbane, Australia. Although his stories are totally fictional, his writing style is very realistic and he maintains a healthy level of paranoia with respect to his anonymity.

Other than the Ambo Tales From The Frontline series, he has written two full length novels featuring the same characters, a murder mystery, Dead Regular, and the thriller sequel, Beneath Contempt. He is currently writing the third novel in the Jono series, High Acuity, with the fourth and final book existing only as ideas, notes, and a title, Show Cause.
