I do love Susan Carlisle’s stories they are filled with emotion and fabulous characters that are very easy to make friends with and this one is no exception and yes it has been on my TBR pile for quite a while and I am glad I finally got to know Ross Lawson and Sally Davis.

Ross has wanted to be a firefighter since he was a young boy and for very good reasons, he is very good at his job and is now captain but he wants a higher position so doing everything right is a must but falling for the paramedic who works out of his station is not such a good idea.

Sally has moved to Austin after her divorce she is determined to finally do what she want to do and that is become a doctor and she has no intention of ever falling for another man, but the pull she feels when working with her captain is way too hard to ignore.

I loved this story, both Ross and Sally are caring and loving people who will go above and beyond to save people but the walls that they have built around their hearts is falling the more time they spend together. A beautiful story that had me cheering them on and left me feeling very happy. This is one that I would highly recommend to anyone lover of romance.

Took longer than expected (read the Large Print version accidentally) with one sexually gratuitous event to keep you through the rest of what is taught in schools now as a "plot". Yes, I am bored. Yes, I am shut-in due to a global pandemic (guess which one) and I've found several of these silly Harlequin books to read. Next!

Whether there is a medical emergency arising or only a complicated personal issue is worrying the main couple, the beginning story in the First Response duo certainly kept me enthralled every moment that I was reading. Susan Carlisle has a knack for envisioning very realistic stories for her characters, and FIREFIGHTER’S UNEXPECTED FLING is truly one of her best. The premise is imaginative, while the events that take place grabbed my thoughts from the start and never let go until the conclusion. I really enjoyed discovering what choices two people would end up making when confronted with possible life-changing scenarios.

Being a paramedic in the Austin, Texas area brings Sally Davis much satisfaction, and she hopes to attend medical school one day. A firefighter at the same station where she works has caught her attention, and Ross Lawson is also intrigued by her. But both are totally focused on helping others plus furthering their careers, which leaves little time for relationships. Yet the more Ross and Sally interact, the more fascinated they become with each other.

The incidents that happen in this story related to the medical field are especially thrilling, as any danger is portrayed with lots of realism. One situation in particular had me nervous about its outcome, as nothing was guaranteed. I really admired Sally and Ross, as these two individuals often give their all when someone is in trouble, regardless of what it might cost them. Details about each occurrence are vividly described, so I knew exactly what was going on and why.

As for the potential relationship of Sally and Ross, there are a few huge factors working against them. But sometimes the heart does not listen to the negative points, only what it desires. As this couple faces each new problem that crops up in their lives, they uncover some surprising facts about themselves. How they respond to events gave insight into their natures, and I really liked what was exposed by their actions. Any characters, either adults or children, are depicted in a delightful and convincing manner, too.

I voluntarily reviewed the book, and all comments are my honest opinion

Susan Carlisle is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Firefighter's Unexpected Fling is only her second book that I've read and I love it.

This is the story of Ross Lawson, Fire Captain, and Paramedic Sally Davis. The characters are so well developed and their interactions are so authentic. It's a story of faith, determination, perseverance and sacrifice.

Harlequin stories are known for the happily ever after. Carlisle had me holding my breath all the way to the end of the book because I wasn't sure the guy would get the girl. This was such a sweet story of love so strong the characters were sacrificing their own happiness for the other.

I love that this story highlights firefighters and paramedics because my brother is both. I strongly recommend this story and this author.

I received a copy of this book from the author without expectation of a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own. I can't wait to find more stories and series by Susan Carlisle!

FIREFIGHTER’S UNEXPECTED FLING by Susan Carlisle is a January 2020 release by Harlequin Medical Romance series.

Ross Lawson wants a promotion but he can’t afford a romance at his workplace. But working together with his best friend’s sister he realized he was attracted to her.

Paramedic Sally Davies was not looking for romance. But a fling with Ross was on the cards for her. Until she falls in love. Could she let her heart be shattered over a man once again?

FIREFIGHTER’S UNEXPECTED FLING is a sweet romance amid the emergency drama. Author Susan Carlisle beautifully brought these two characters together making them move past their grievances and achieving their happy ever after. Set at an emergency station, this is an emotionally uplifting story of hope and future.

Highly recommended for all readers of medical romance.

Excellent Romance story! I really enjoyed this book by Susan Carlisle. I recently began to read her books, and I love her style, characters and plots. This story revolved around a fire station, including the paramedic unit. It was a lovely happily ever after story and also gave the brave men and women of these professions their due praise.

Complications, work and romance.

I love Susan Carlisle’s books and I knew I had to have this one when I saw it. I’m glad I did. As I expected, the writing flowed well and I was drawn right into the story. It might have only taken me a few hours to read the book, but I couldn’t put it down.

Sally and Ross are good characters. They’re everything I’d want in a firefighter and paramedic. Dedication to the job and personable, they’re great. Ross is the guy who gets things done and Sally’s got determination, too. The sparks between them are off the charts. I rooted for them to get together and raced through this book to see what would happen next.

There are forces trying to keep Sally and Ross apart and I liked how the author handled the situations.

If you’re looking for a story guaranteed to tug at the heartstrings, then this is the book for you.

I enjoyed Ross and Sally’s friends to lovers story in Firefighter's Unexpected Fling by Susan Carlisle, book one in the First Response series. Fire captain Ross Lawson has no time for romance, or so he think, especially with his impending promotion to Battalion captain. When the beautiful paramedic, Sally Davis starts working at his station he starts flirting. Sally is the divorced sister of Ross’ best friend and a workplace romance is against regulations. As these two spend time together, the chemistry and magnetism is a sure sign of the blazing attraction between them; one neither wants to put out. These two might be forced to choose between their love and their futures unless something can be figured out.

Ms. Carlisle wrote a fun, and sexy romance that should not be missed. She provided a tale rich with emotions, sexual chemistry, humor, wonderful dialogue, and endearing characters giving Ross and Sally a chance to at love, and forever. I highly recommend Firefighter's Unexpected Fling to other readers.

Ross Lawson firefighter has his life mapped out, do his job and stay clear of relationships. Sounds great till Sally Davis . Sally works at the same station as a paramedic and hopefully will get to medical school. Working together in sometimes serious situations put them at times in a very close proximity of each other. The medical situations depicted only make for a more intense story and do no distract you from the budding romance that neither of them realize is happening. Before long they are digging deep into themselves and finding things out that has effected them in the past. Watching them find their feeling for each other makes this a lovely romance and another great romance by Ms. Carlisle.

"Firefighter's Unexpected Fling (First Response #1)" by Susan Carlisle is more than a first response story and many scenes throughout the book that will capture your attention. Fire Captain Ross Lawson wants nothing to do with everlasting romance. Sally Davis comes to work at the station as a paramedic and captures his attention. She has two strikes against her; first, she is the sister of his best friend, and second, he has a rule about no work romance. Sally is trying to make a new life for herself after her divorce and this unexpected attraction is starting to heat things up. Pun intended. Loved it.

With the first book in the First Response duet, Susan Carlisle delivers an attention grabbing story line with FIREFIGHTER'S UNEXPECTED FLING. It's fast paced, has really fun characters and checks off all of the must haves for a delightful romance!

Ross nabbed my attention quickly as the go to man when there was a problem, and a good friend to have in your corner. He knows Sally should be off-limits because she's his best friend's sister, but he can't seem to resist her.

Sally is still reeling from her recent divorce, but starting a new job that she loves is good medicine for heartbreak ... and it turns out, so is spending time with a man like no other!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a bit of a forbidden romance between friends and co-workers. It easily held my attention throughout and I'm looking forward to the second book in the duet.
