Beth has lured me into the slave rebellion with promises that spark a fire in my heart ... and in other places, as well. The Bazaar will either lead to a revolution, or end in countless lives lost and an even greater stronghold for slavery. On top of that, an old enemy has arisen, and fighting him will take every bit of strength and magic I possess. But he has more lives and more plans than I can fathom, and each of them includes destroying the realms, my king, and my mate.
Beth's journey to the mines is even more fraught with danger, but her will is insurmountable, and my need to claim her only reinforces our agreement. The future may be filled with pitfalls, but I swear to the Ancestors I will get her to the mines and claim her so well that she will never doubt my devotion. But first, we'll have to survive the deepest, darkest hole in all of Arin--the Abyss.
Lily's Note: The Abyss is book 7 of the Fae's Captive Series and continues Beth and Gareth's story.
When I began writing Taylor and Leander's story, I had NO idea it would capture so many of your hearts and imaginations. Thank you for loving them as much as I do. You are making my dreams come true.

My favorite character so far is the damn unicorn. How is that even possible?
The Abyss was an okay book from this novella series. I feel like I haven't really fell in love with any of the books in the series. I don't even know if that's possible anymore since I'm all caught up with the 8 books. Unless there's a new one coming??
In it, we are still following Gareth and Beth's little love story. I figured that I would end up enjoying the crap out of their books because I enjoyed their bantering throughout the previous books. Yet, I don't really care for them. It's like they are a yo-yo for me. They have their ups and downs.. and sometimes I even like them. The moment never lasts long enough for me though.
I am, however, very happy that the teasing has stopped somewhat. I can gladly say that the smut is well worth it.
“You are the queen of my life, the one I was made for.”
AHHHHHH!!! This is the best book in the series so far!!! Oh my GOSH!!!! It was epic!!!! I read this one in one sitting I could not put this book down. I am so in Love with Gareth and Beth and I am so obsessed with their love story. This book was filled with action and suspense and the SEXIEST of times. I loved getting to see Gareth in action fighting and other wise lol. He is such an amazing character. Beth is the best. I love that she pushes Gareth while also knowing that she feels the same way for him that he does for her. Together they are unstoppable. These two had me smiling so much! I loved this journey. The ending made me jump and scream. Oh my Gosh it was Epic!!!! This is by far my favorite book in this series. I am so in Love with “The Abyss”. I can see myself re-reading this one over and over. It was EPIC!!
First I need to note how often I laughed, just like ugly snorted at the crude humor we get between Beth and the unicorns. I didn’t think we would see more again but here we are and I’m amused all over again. These aren’t our childhood unicorns but I’m not mad at it. Over all we deal with a lot of intense stuff considering how the slaves are faring and all that, but there’s hope too and that’s amazing. So close to the end and I’m hyped to see how this all wraps up.
The Abyss by Lily Archer is book 7 in Fae's Captive Series. This continues the story of Gareth and Beth's story who met in the previous book 'Taken' and 'The Bazaar'. This series does read better if you have read the previous books. Beth has been through a lot from all that has happened but now she has Gareth who wants only her but they are dealing with a rebellion which is in full swing. There is some funny parts and of course there are the steamy scene. Overall enjoyed this book.
This one wasn't as good as the first few- it's getting a little repetitive. This one also had a lot more "damsel and distress" themes which are fine in moderation for this type of book, but over and over again it's meh.
I really had a hard time reading this book. I absolutely love Gareth but his beloved is getting on my nerves. It took me longer to read this short story as Beth was getting on my nerves. I just feel like she is using Gareth for her own gain on what she wants. It did get a little better at the end of this book. I love the side characters and the story line, I just do not like Beth which surprises me because I loved her sass in the beginning. At this point I would just stop reading this series, but since I have read all 7 books and there is only one more left, I feel I need to finish this story. I really hope Beth starts to show more emotion and love to Gareth in the last book. I felt some emotions in this book but not enough for her to be my favorite. I kind of wish there was more scenes with Taylor and Leander but we will see how this goes.
I was annoyed reading this book...not because it wasn't good but because I'm dying for Gareth and Beth's happy ending and I still haven't gotten it lol. This book continues their story and we finally get some good steamy bits between the two of them. I really like Gareth. He's swoony and growly but Beth is a little harder to like. I'm all for a strong woman but for some reason it was harder to believe with her as a character and she came off a little annoying. But she did grow on me by the end of this installment. Archer does a really good at world building and I'm looking forward to their HEA.
Another fantastic story from Lily Archer! She just keeps on drawing me in and making me want more! And for those fans of unicorns, you'll get your fix in this one ;)
The Abyss is full of action, humour, and sexy times (as if we'd expect anything else). With the rebellion in full swing, Beth and Gareth head off on their original quest - to rescue Clotty. The trip there is filled with strife, but it's nothing compared to the gaping hole that is The Abyss. And that ending! I'm desperate for the next one now!
Oh my word. Out of the current story line, this installment is my favorite by far. The return of the unicorns is just perfection. Sexually frustrated Gareth is fantastic. I laughed so much while reading this one. That cliffhanger, though. Looking forward to the next book.
Characters: 3,5/5 stars Setting: 2,5/5 stars Writing: 3/5 stars Plot and themes: 3/5 stars Spicy: 2/5 stars (They mate in this book) Relationship type: MF Narrator type: Dual Pov. First person: Beth and Gareth. Ending: Tense! Format read: Ebook (KU) Pace of the book: Fast paced Tropes: Fae, paranormal world, fated mates. Other things to notice: Book 1-4 is about Taylor and Leander. Book 5-8 is about Garett and Beth.
Spoilers below!!! . . . . . . . . . Cenet from the previous book series (book 1-4) is back in this book. He tries to kill Gareth and Beth and the their gang.
They go through a bunch of dangerous in this book too. And Gareth’s feral creature is a Tiger. A freaking tiger. Which Beth like to call fluffy and cute. I love how Gareth calls her his “Beloved” and Beth calls him “my heart.” And we find out what Gareth’s last name is - Gareth Elliden.
Ohh and Gareth and Beth finally mates in this book. It only took 7 books before Gareth could get his claim. It happens at the end of this book when they are at the abyss and know that they can’t return to safety … so they make the best of the situation. Did I mention that the valley has echo…. Poor companies.. And we thought Leander was struggling. XD Leander and Taylor doesn’t appear in this part of the series at all. They and Selene (obsidian dark witch) are mentioned once in this book.
And apparently Beth is blond…. This is book 7 and I’m first realizing this no. Book number SEVEN! I imagined her brunette throughout the whole series.. this just show how little their appearance have been described.
And that’s not all. Apparently there’s a “Where were we” part that describes sums up how the previous book ended. I just realized that this a thing. Again I have read 7 books and I’m first realizing this now… Note: the books ends right were the last one ended.

The slaves rise up against the slavers and Zatran after witnessing what had been done to Silmaran.
Gareths ferel comes forth and is a huge tiger. The slaves turn against Gareth, thinking he is a nobel and Silmaran has to come to his rescue.
After the slaves rose up, Silmaran had to rain them back in. They are not the monsters that the slavers are. They will give them a chance to live together in peace or leave the city.
Chastain and Silmaran want to join Beth and Gareth on the quest to the mines in order to free the enslaved there and create an even bigger army to march on the summer realm capital.
On the way to the Abyss, they are attacked by vines and later Zatran and a group of trolls. Gareth transforms into his tiger feral, and Zatran is able to control him, but Beth brings him back to his senses, and he kills Zatran.
They find them selves at the point of no return. At the bottom of the Abyss with the pully system broken and the only way forward through the Abyss and on to the mines.
Beth finally gives herself to Gareth, and they mate and mark one another. The morning after, they are getting ready to set off to the mine, but a creature of the Abyss nidnappes Beth.

I won't bother about the length again. Instead this time I'll just focus on the story. From start to finish it goes at a great pace. Obviously sexual frustration ranks highly, between Beth and Gareth and part of me is screaming at her to just let go!! I know if it was myself I'd have rescinded the agreement back in book six!! However, when they do get together you just know that the raw power between them is going to be out of this world!! Does it happen in this book....well if you truly want to know read the book!! Mind you who needs to hear about Beth and Gareth when the unicorns are here!! Seriously some real laugh out loud moments with these foul mouthed, yet stunning creatures, oh how I wish they were real 🙉🙊🤦🤦 Now I'm going to read the final instalment of these books!! Cya in the flip side 😊😊
I really enjoyed this series. The banter was a lot of fun - I enjoyed it more than Taylor and Leander but grumpyXsunshine is my favourite! I will say that I would have preferred the series as two separate (but longer) books. One for Taylor and Leander and another for Gareth and Beth but that didn’t really take away from the story so much. There were a few annoyances around key moments taking place ‘off-page’ (the showdown with the vampire hound alpha, large chunks of battles) which could leave you confused as to what is going on for a while. Also never finding out WHY the vampire hounds loved her blood so much? That is frustrating. Looking forward to reading more in the universe in the future.

OK this one was much better than the first to spoiler alert ahead
The fact that we finally get these two to finally meet at the third book I’m OK with that. It took quite some time. It bothered me a little but I’m still OK with it. I think the scene was lacking a little something after all the weight that we had to go through for them to meet but otherwise I’m happy that they still did
I would have to say this is probably my favorite out of the three Everett. I’m hoping the fourth one is just as good or better. I think I also like their relationship more than the first four books at the series with that being said, I’m on the phone book for and I can’t wait to see what happens.
The Abyss Book 7: Stars: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ Damn the opening of this book. It was a super intense opening. But these books have their highs and lows. Sometimes they are super cheesy like with the unicorns, I could have done without their comedic humor. I was rolling my eyes a little. Otherwise the adventure in these books is what has me coming back. You can always depend on a cliff hanger also. Over all these books are super short easy reads with some spice, great world building and adventure.
Gareth and Beth are just not holding me as well as the first four books did. I think I had hoped to get to know the phalanx better and those that they do travel with, we don't get much character development on.
Also, Beth reminds me of Jack Bauers daughter from 24. How many times can one person get snatched????
But it's fun and one more book and I will know the ending. Which I do feel invested in. I will get there, but maybe not immediately!
Overall I’m still enjoying this but I do feel like the story is dragging and I got tired of the, “I want you but you can’t mate with me yet” plot line.
Even though this book less than 100 pages, it took me a day to pull myself through it.
On the bright side, I absolutely ADORE the unicorns in this story! It’s hilarious what the author has done with them 🤣
I will still read the last book because I want to know how it ends. But after that I’m going to need a break from this author 😅
A good progression in linking back to the main story. The friends made in the previous book are going to be joining the MCs on their adventure as they’re heading to the same place, but with a bigger goal. The enemies that weren’t defeated previously have the very opposite goal heading for that same destination. The route proves to be filled with perils and just as we’re reaching our destination, we end with a cliffhanger as we lose someone important!
I absolutely love Beth and Gareth. She is definitely feisty and pushes all his buttons and he's well, he's a hot fae warrior. The journey through the abyss is intense. Lots of viscious and deadly creatures to fight. When Gareth makes it to the mines he is in for a surprise and Beth conquers a fear and finally fulfills her mission. Such a good little adventure. Plus Beth finally gives into the mate bond 🔥🔥
There is so much about this book (and this whole series) to love. Just when you think you can't get any more invested in the characters or the stakes can't get any higher... And, the sexual tension between Gareth and Beth is even better than it was between Taylor and Leander. I NEED to hurry and read the last book! I have to know what happens!
Let me preface this review by saying that I have found most of the installments in this series to be lacking.
I should've stopped at book 4. I had such high hopes for this series and unfortunately it just hasn't lived up to the hype for me. Here's hoping something magical happens in the final installment to change my view point!
That's so cringey, I think as I devour every book in this series. Listen, Gareth and Beth aren't my faves and the mating that we've been dying to get to ended up being a bit bland...minus the unicorn voyeurism *chef's kiss*...but overall I really do love reading these. They hit just right for me.
Io modo in cui al storia di Beth e Gareth si sta svolgendo è praticamente uguale a quella della prima coppia della serie. È sempre piacevole leggere questi libri ma avrei preferito qualcosa di più originale!
I loved it. But eh the the whole unicorn part was a little overboard for me. But I love this series so much. So looking to read book 8. Because of what happened to Beth at the end of this one..
These books just keep getting better and better.. now for the next one :) I’m sad this series is heading to the end….. :( but I’ll read every single word until it does then re read them 😉
