In 1999 Manchester United achieved the unthinkable - they won the FA Carling Premiership, the FA Cup and the European Champions League. The excitement generated was heightened by the intensity and drama of matches such as their 4-2 comeback over Juventus and their last-minute victory over Bayern Munich in the Champion's League final. Here, the man who masterminded this remarkable feat presents an illustrated, match-by-match account of how his team planned and scored the goals during that incredible year. Alex Ferguson provides insights with his managers reports, capturing each match of the season in detail.
a former Scottish football manager and player who managed Manchester United from 1986 to 2013. His time at the club has led to Ferguson being regarded as one of the most successful, admired and respected managers in the history of the game. He has won many awards and holds many records including winning Manager of the Year most times in British football history. In 2008, he became the third British manager to win the European Cup on more than one occasion. He was knighted in 1999 for his services to the game and also holds the Freedom of the City of Aberdeen.
On 8 May 2013, Ferguson announced his retirement as manager of Manchester United. During his 26 years at the club, he won 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League and two UEFA Champions League titles
This is from the perspective of a non - Man Ut fan. The book pretty much does what it suggests in the Title . It deals with each match in turn starting with a brief match summary followed by the thoughts of Alex Ferguson. The highlights of the book are Ferguson's Report on each match . These are both concise, revealing and incisive.
Brilliant book with amazing illustrations of nearly all the goals scored that season. It's always a pleasure entering the thoughts of Sir Alex Ferguson. My heart aches when I read the startup team, great, great players. Wish I was old enough to have witnessed them all playing for United. Something that made my heart smile is the introduction written by SAF, the book was published in 2001, he said he'd retire in 2002, it is 2013 now and bless his soul he's still here. Ahh.
Absolutely brilliant. Enjoyed every page. Highly recommended to United fans.
It was a very special achievement, so why not relive it with this book? Obviously this would be for soccer and Manchester United fans, but it's a nice easy in-depth read about the amazing Treble winning season for the Reds. A good companion to the Treble video recap.
