Cocky Soldier

by Faleena Hopkins

Jeremy is the youngest of six brothers & this is the last of the Cocker brothers find love..Jeremy has been having issues since returning from overseas, tormented by nightmares & just not feeling like himself. The whole Cocker family is worried about him

Meagan is mess, she recently graduated from culinary school she works for the most arrogant man that I've ever met in my life. For some reason she's also having some type of sexual relationship with this man God Knows Why in a mad rush due to the fact that she was late for work for this arrogant man she gets into a car accident wakes up in a stranger's house with a huge Rottweiler staying over her imagine her surprise… The story just gets more interesting after that. I believe Jeremy is one of the funniest of the cocker Brothers even with all his issues

This book was a bit ridiculous, I was surprised at the high ratings. The dialogue was weak and unrealistic, at times it was difficult to follow along.

Can I be sad that there are no more Cocker brothers? Because I am. I really, really am. I loved this series. These boys all had their own individual backstories, flaws and strengths, but I love how despite their differences, they were a tight knit family who loved their brothers and parents, warts and all. I think it was also great how all of them were confirmed bachelors in their own way, but once they found the right woman, they were all in. Ready to start their own families and forevers.

Okay, enough swooning over all the boys. Let’s focus on Jeremy. The baby of the family. We hadn’t learned much about Jeremy up to this point, because he was overseas serving in the Marines. When he came back home, he was quiet, reserved and distanced himself from the family. He even stayed away from his best friend and brother Jake. All the brothers were concerned about him, but acknowledged that he needed his space to deal with whatever he had experienced during his tour and they did their best to leave him alone. Now, this is much easier said than done with this nosy, close family, but they tried.

Jeremy has lived a simple life since his return home. His dog Aslan is his best friend and the only reason he gets out of bed most days. His nights are spent alone, suffering through nightmares and flashbacks. His days are spent aimlessly. Running to escape his past. Working out until his body passes out from exhaustion.

When Meagan crashes into his life, he feels a spark he hasn’t felt in years. He seeks her out, even though she’s expressed nothing but anger and indifference towards him and ends up getting a job at her restaurant. Now, he has a reason to get up in the morning, a place to go to work and a person he looks forward to seeing every day. He’s slowly making progress back to the living, but he can’t have Meagan the way he wants her, because she’s casually sleeping with their boss. It infuriates him that she sleeps with Bryan, because he treats her like dirt. Jeremy teases her and has fun egging her on, but is also kind and gentlemanly towards her. He just doesn’t understand why she’s with Bryan.

They do start hanging out as friends and get to know each other better. They confide in each other and find solace in each other’s company. When Meagan and Bryan finally call it quits, Jeremy takes the opportunity to show her how much he wants and needs her. Having been fighting off her own feelings for Jeremy, she gives into their desires and it is just as intense and incredible as they had both imagined. Worried for her job though, Meagan wants to keep their new relationship a secret, but when the Cocker clan comes into the restaurant for dinner, there’s no way to keep all of them quiet.

I loved how their relationship wasn’t insta-love. There was definite attraction from the start or near the start of their acquaintance, but their relationship was a slow burn. It built on a strong friendship first and then transformed into a life-changing partnership.

I cried more in this book, than I did with the other brothers, but as always the strong characters and the deep feelings jumped off the pages.

Maybe could we find some long-lost Cocker brothers to write about? I’m going to miss them, but I look forward to reading about their kids and the trouble that the next generation of Cockers are going to get into!

No cliffhanger. No cheating. Told in alternating POVs.
Very happily ever after with a few follow up chapters that give us a sneak peek into their family’s future.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance review copy of this book.

Saved the Best for Last

Every single one of the Cocker Brothers books (and Honey Badger too) have been absolutely amazing! With each and every book I fell in love with the Cocker family. The way the brothers knew right from the beginning that they had met the love of their life even though they fought tooth and nail against it. They take care of their ladies so lovingly. Would protect them with their lives.
The way that Faleena Hopkins writes is incredible! Her storylines and characters are so real and believable. They have difficulties and issues like regular people. I get lost in their stories. I feel like I'm a part of it. I feel lost when the book ends, I want it to last forever. That's how good Faleena is. IMO, every book she writes is a Best Seller.
In Cocky Soldier, you have Jeremy, youngest of the Cocker Brothers. He has recently returned to civilian life from time in the military and is having a rough time dealing with it. He had some heartbreaking experiences while overseas that have almost broken him. The story begins with Jeremy rescuing Meagan from a car crash outside his home. He carries her into his house to call 911 where she wakes up confused, thinking Jeremy has kidnapped her. After Meagan is taken to the hospital the tow truck driver finds her purse and phone and Jeremy says he will return them to her. Before doing so he does a bit of snooping in Meagan's phone to learn more about her. Jeremy realizes he feels more alive and upbeat since meeting Meagan than he has in a really long time.
Meagan has kinda been involved with her boss, who is a total asshole so she is very resistant to Jeremy's flirting. But that doesn't stop him. Will Meagan realize how right Jeremy is for her before it's too late? Will Jeremy be able to put his demons to rest?
I highly recommend this book! And not just this Cocker book. While each Cocker Brothers book is a stand alone, IMO, you don't want to miss out on any of the books in this series. In fact, do yourself a favor and read all of Faleena Hopkins books. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 starsAnother HOME RUN from Faleena Hopkins. Jeremy Cocker!!!!

By Angela on January 15, 2017

As usual I am anxious to read about the Cocker brothers and their family and this one was just like the rest of the brothers ---Amazing!! As soon as I received it today I began to read and could not put it down until I was finished. However, this story was written much more differently than the previous books and I found it very refreshing. This story had real depth to it and brought to light the many difficulties our men and women in the armed forces deal with coming home and trying to fit in again with family and civilian life. Jeremy is a very special man who is dealing with his own demons from war and trying to find his way if life. He struggles with his family, especially his brothers because they are all very worried about him and that really drives him crazy. Until one day he runs into a woman (Meagan) who inspires him and starts to brighten his life. He unexpectedly finds himself to be intrigued with this woman because she makes him laugh and smile, something he has not done in a long time. Her presence starts to make him want to get out and do things again, just like bartending. He also pursues Meagan with real interest and feelings and has a concern for her and her struggles. They also find out that they have a commonn link they didn't know they had later in the story. Their romance builds ever so slowly unlike any of the other brothers and they have such a mutual respect for each other which makes their story tender and loving. Jeremy speaks so honestly and true to Meagan it is so refreshing to read. Even though Meagan has her own past with some demons, she is very strong and between the two of them they heal each other with true and pure love. I did miss the normal family BBQ. it is such a tradition and a right of passage in every story. As well as grandmother Cocker. I was glad that the get together included the boys, especially Jett. This story is definitely a MUST read as well as the other brothers, but this one is so close to home and real to today with our military men and women and the families that love them. Faleena outdid herself this time allowing us to only get a small g!impse about what PTSD would somewhat look like. Wonderful!!!! She allows us to see through this story that even though we may be in darkness, the love of someone who gives you their heart and soul and a family that always has your back, we can rise out of the ashes just like the Pheonix. Jeremy gets his heart healed and slowly the ghosts start to leave!! Bravo Faleena!!! Must Read for anyone!!! I read this as an ARC.

I read and review lots of books over time. I think I've reviewed about 500 or more on Amazon right now, and as many on Goodreads. I had three of this woman's books on my Kindle, and hadn't read them. I purchased them all based on recommendations from other people (and believe me, next time I won't listen to them).

First, I want a heroine with a brain. A working, functioning brain. I think, although the story doesn't prove it, that Faleena actually tried to make this nitwit funny when she accuses the guy who gets her out of a wrecked car, of being a kidnapper. This girl doesn't have a clue about life, and acts like she's been sheltered from everyone since birth. She's sleeping with her boss, decided to speed through a residential area because she couldn't get herself moving to get to work on time, sees that she's about to hit someone and hits a tree instead. Too bad it didn't kill her, then a new heroine could have been written who had a little maturity and some brains.

And by the way, Ms. Hopkins, maturity isn't based on age. It is based on whether the author CREATES it when she is forming the character. I've met 12 year olds who are more mature than Meagan ever hoped to be. More evidence of immaturity is when she's being used by her boss, as a manager and as a sexual outlet, and she doesn't catch on, despite not being in love with him. Helloooo! Anyone home?

Then we have Jeremy and his family, all of whom I loved. It appears that Faleena knows men better than women, and that alone is a little strange to consider. He's funny, and adorable...and the first time I put the book down, swearing I could finish it, was when I realized how much he was attracted to Miss Brainless.

Overall, I didn't finish the book. I got to about 3/4 of the way, and realized that Meagan wasn't growing up, that I like Jeremy and didn't wish him the hell of being with a juvenile like Meagan and just gave up. It will go to the same trash pile in cyberland as the last one did. I expect more from the books I purchase - a good, solid plot with good, strong, bright, and smart characters who are well developed. But more importantly, I like someone who can write about romance and actually put emotions into the book that don't revolve around sex as sport. Oh, and please make the heroin act older than 12. That usually works too.

I was given a copy by Faleena to voluntarily read and give my honest review. I think this was the perfect brother to end the Cocker series.

Jeremy is the youngest Cocker brother. He’s come home after years of being a Marine. He lives with his dog Aslan. As many men and woman who have served, Jeremy has nightmares. He needs to stay active to keep his memories at bay.

Meagan is a young chef. Her dream is to run her own kitchen. Her boss/lover won’t allow her in his kitchen. He’s opening a new restaurant and wants her to manage it.

One morning, Meagan is late for work; Jeremy is on a run with his dog. Their two worlds collide. From that minute he feels the need to protect her and help her. She feels the need to scream. He frustrates her. She makes him smile and laugh.

He has this urge to see her again. Her phone rings and he answers. When her boss asks who he is, he has a little fun with him.

From the moment Jeremy walks into the restaurant and sees her, he’s at peace. He can’t understand the need to be with her, to please her. The pull she has on him is amazing. And then, she starts to feel it too. She needs to be with him, all the time.

I was not expecting the twist regarding the photo he sees (no spoilers here). You’ll know the moment when you read it. My heart breaks for them, but at the same time I feel at peace.

Love the scene that plays out on Mother’s Day. I love the Cocker family. They are definitely not a bunch to mess with, including their mom.

Please get this book and enjoy. If you haven’t read the other Cocker brothers you are missing out on an amazing family. Thank you Faleena for an incredible series. I can’t wait for more.

Well I’m going to say it “THIS IS MY FAVORITE BOOK 📖 IN THIS SERIES”! I’m so sorry to see the Crocker Brothers journeys come to an end. This is one of the best top ten series 📚 of 2017 for me. And I loved ❤️ this book 📖 the most. And I know how excited I and to read about the children 👶. I fell in loved with all the amazing Crocker Brothers and their wives, children, all young, especially the parents Congressmen Michael Crocker and Nancy Crocker. Faleena Hopkins is an incredible writer. Her storyline and characters are so real and believable. I’m completely lost when the journey of the brothers end. I lived in their world and loved it there and they’ll always be in my heart and mind.

Jeremy was a very special man with some many demons to deal with from his time in the marines. I loved how much his family loved and worried about him. He struggled with trying to find his way in life. Jeremy’s is the youngest brother and the only one not married. And he has no intentions of ever marrying. He lost so many friends and platoon members which he bought back home. He’s especially lost without his BFF and you’ll love this when you find out who his best friend is during this amazing book. His heartbeaking experiences overseas has him broken. And his journey with Meagan begins with him rescuing her in a car accident outside his home. When he meets Meagan she makes him laugh and just brighten up his life. But we do get a glimpse into PSTD because of Jeremy. Oh he really has a great since if humor and Meagan has me in stitches. The humor in this book is hilarious, absolutely amazing.

Their journey begins when Jeremy recurring Meagan from a car accident outside his home. During this part of the story Meagan is plotting to go through a stop light because she late work. And she sleeping with the owner and chef. Jeremy calls 911 while carrying her to his house. Meagan has her on demons losing her brother to suicide. Her and her sister are tight and still feel the pain of losing Devin. I’m really going to miss the traditional BBQ 🍗 the Crocker family gave and showed how much love ❤️ was in this family. Meagan and Jeremy has the most amazing relationship ever, in this last book of the Crocker Brothers which I’ll miss tremendously. I’m really anxious to read the next books in this series. I’m assuming these books 📚 will be about the children and cousins. Can’t wait to continue my obsession with the Crocker’s.

I have seriously loved every brothers story in this series. I keep thinking there's no way Faleena can top the last one, and each time she proves me wrong. If you haven't started this series, you should. They're all amazing, and all different. Each brother gets his own story, not a copy and paste with different names.
Jeremy is the last brother in the series (but not the last book!!). His story starts with his return to civilian life after the Marines. He is having trouble adjusting to "normal" life, and his family is worried about him. After a fated run in with Meagan, who nearly runs him down and then thinks he's a kidnapper, he begins to find a reason to start moving forward. The relationship that begins between them is a sort of teasing banter, but after a while becomes a friendship. They both are attracted to each other, but it's not an insta-love. They both have pasts that are hard to move on from, and they start to do that together.
There were definitely points in this story that were so poignant, they had me in tears. Faleena has a writing style that makes her characters seem so real. I absolutely recommend you read this story, it's so well written and touching.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book for review and have a confession to make before moving on to the review portion - I always read the final chapter a few chapters in so that I know what I'm getting into (and I've done it with most books). However, this particular story flowed so well and I was so engrossed in the plot that I didn't even think of reading the last chapter until I was almost at the end. By that time, I was so excited to see how it ends that I just kept reading through.

This is the final Cocker brother story, and while I am sad to see all the brothers married now, I am so glad that Faleena decided to save Jeremy for last. A lot of the story reminded me of my friends that are in the military and I am so glad that he found someone that keeps the nightmares at bay. I was also really touched at how their connection was made even stronger by...I'm not going to spoil it, but you kind of get a sense of the connection I'm talking about as you read the book. The only thing that I could've wished for in the story was how Jeremy proposed to Meagan, which I think would've been interesting. :)

As I've mentioned in my other reviews, you don't need to read the other books to understand the story, but I most definitely recommend that you do.

Jeremy and Meagan are fun to read about. Jeremy needs to find a purpose in life, now that he is out of the marines. Meagan just wants to cook and be a chef and her boss keeps dangling hope in front of her, but won't let her cook.
Jeremy is having nightmares from his service days and Meagan keeps having reminders about her brother who killed himself. They both need something to make themselves smile. Maybe they can be that for each other.

The story opens with Meagan waking up on a stranger's couch and her trying to protect herself from someone who might have kidnapped her. Jeremy saved the crazy lady that almost hit him and his dog while they are out for a run. After the paramedics come and get her, he holds on to her phone and purse. Jokes and shenanigans ensure between the two. One thing leads to another and Jeremy ends up working with Meagan, where teasing leads to friendship and finally romance.

I really enjoyed this book and reading about the main characters. I loved how the story unfolded and how things end.

I highly recommend that you give this book and the rest of the series a try.

Excellently awesome contemporary seemingly bad boy, Cocker Brother romance. The main characters are fabulous and they alone draw the reader into the story. Jeremy is the youngest of the 5 Cocker Brother's who each found their niche. Jeremy wanted to find himself without the influence of his wealthy and powerful family. He joined the Marines, found his dedication, friends but also devastation. Meagan met Jeremy in a highly unusual way. At first she thought he was a kidnapper. They got to know one another. She was working for a well-known chef that she wanted to emulate. Unfortunate!y, he was a tyrant, her boss, occasional lover but she still wanted to work it out until she met Jeremy. Out of all the Cocker Brothers I think this was the most moving. There are unexpected twists and turns that keeps the reader glued to the book. I wish there were more Cocker Brothers for future books. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I very much look forward to reading future books by Ms. Hopkins.

WOW! WOW! WOW! This book is so outstanding!! This is by far the best Cocker Brothers book and it is such an amazing end book for the series! I was caught in the book for page 1 and could not put it down till I was finished. This is a stand alone book, so you don't have to read the others before reading this one. Though I would recommend starting at the beginning with Jake's book, Cocky Roomie.
Jeremy is the youngest sexy Cocker brother, and because of traumatic things that have happened to him he is not his self anymore. Jeremy is lost and tormented by nightmares, until he meets the beautiful and feisty Meagan. Meagan is able to change everything and help heal him over time. There are parts of this book that are emotional, and I won't lie, there was a tear or two while reading. I would so recommend for everyone to read this book.

This quickly became a favorite series of mine and I recommend it highly. It’s not necessary to read the books in order but some details are best left to an “in order” read.

The cover states “Their daddy taught them to be real men”. I have a problem with their daddy. Their father appears to be an ass where Jett is concerned but still, they say nothing about his sanctimonious attitude. Two of the sons know that their father as a secret while the others are left out, how do you think that will affect their relationship later when they find out because these brothers are tight? I don’t think this author addressed the matter and as a reader, I feel let down. Do I expect an exploding family fight NO, but I did want them to tell him to climb off of his pedestal because he isn’t perfect.

"I wasn't happy until I met you," I rasp into her skin. "I was lost."

First I have to say to Faleena Hopkins- I am soooo glad I accidentally stumbled upon Cocky Roomie over the summer last year. I discovered a great author and and amazing series.

As Jeremy's and Meagan's lives intertwine, they start a healing process that they are not aware of. They discover that they carry the same pain as well as the physical attraction they can't escape; so they do the only thing they know to do- go in full force!

I love what I have discovered of both Jeremy and Meagan-they are open and up front from the beginning. A "No Bull" kind-of-relationship.

I was sad with them. I laughed with them. I got mad with them. I cried with them. I loved with them. It's a great story when all the feelings are yours, too.

Have I mentioned before how much I love the Cocker brothers? Well, Jeremy is no exception. This story is really funny, clever and heart-warming. Having come back from his time in the Marines a serious and somewhat damaged man, Jeremy is trying to settle into a kind of solitary life, trying to run off his nightmares (his poor dog, Aslan, bearing the brunt of five runs a day), clocking dangers and escape routes at every turn and never once cracking a smile. He barely even makes it over to his family dinners. Yet when he and Aslan are nearly taken out by a gorgeous woman in a pink Prius, her reaction (she promptly assumes she has been kidnapped!) when she wakes after hitting her head pretty hard from the accident is so over-the-top hilarious that he breaks out in a laugh for the first time in months. Fantastic!

Love this story. Another great book Faleena. This was the book I was waiting for to see how Jeremy finally got out of his head or I was hopping he was going to. He was always so distant in any of the other books he was mentioned in and I so wanted his book to be special. You definitely hit the Mark on that one it was amazing. Now I now the brothers all have there books but I can't wait for their kids books. Fantastic read if you haven't read all the other book and came across this one first stop and read cooky roommate first it helps you become a member of the Cocker family if you start at the beginning. Happy reading and enjoy. Sorry I don't talk much about the book don't want to give anything away so find out for yourself how great this book is and read read read

Every time I read a Cocker brother book I said it was the best by far, and I am saying it again. But honestly this one had that something special. The writing was magnificent, i could not put it down. The humor, and the heartache were the perfect balance for both Jeremy and Meagan. It felt like two people that needed something to bring them to life. For Jeremy he needed to let his military past not to haunt him and take over his life, and Meagan needed to understand her worth and realize she deserved better. And the one thing that connected them the most is the one thing that brings them even closer together. A must read. Cant wait for more of the Cocker family

So another great read by Faleena. Thumbs up girl! This story is of the last unhitched Cocker Brother. Jeremy is back from tour and out of the Marines, but dealing with some dark things only to have a beauty literally crash into his world. Megan is struggling to become a Chef and has her sometimes bed buddy holding her back. As she trys to get into the kitchen and runs the resturant that Bryan owns she falls for the new guy. How will it all turn out? You just have to read to find out, but I can say honestly that I really did like the story. I love what happens with Bryan! He is such an ugly person.

I received this book as a ARC for an honest review.

Once again Faleena has me hooked I read this book in one night it was so good and I could not put it down. I love the Cocker family and can not wait for more! This is one of my favorite brothers. All through out the other books I wondered about the mysterious Jeremy who was a Marine, and when I finally got to learn all about him I was not disappointed. I love him and Meg's connection and how they ended up meeting by fate.

If you have not read the whole series you need to, you will be hooked.

So to start off I love this series & how it's about each brother. You hear about prior characters throughout the newer books which I love. Jeremy was the last one of the boys. I was so excited to read, but disappointed with the way the story flowed towards the end. How can they go from getting fired/quitting to the next chapter about going into business together. There was no chapter of discussion on the topic just bam they started a business?!? So confused. Jeremy & Meagan's story was great nonetheless. He is funny, sexy, cocky & alpha just like the others & made a great book.

Jermey and Meagan will steal your heart and make you believe in fate. Both looking for something but not quite sure what - their meet-cute is so adorable it will leave you smiling the whole book. Jeremy deserves his HEA, probably more than any other Cocker brother so far. Bryan should be forced to eat nothing but gas station sushi for the remainder of his sad pathetic miserable life! But in the end all is well and all the brother all well settled (glad for the bonus scenes 😉) Now we move on to the next generation of Cockers so glad this ride doesn't end... cannot wait!!!!
