Meh. Same pace and shallow story-telling as book 2. The problem with plotting characters who are ancient is that the author is not, and so the ancient character is still only imbued with the same knowledge and emotions as the author. So if a more intuitive, cynical or experienced reader comes along, they will wonder why on earth these old characters, who have experienced eons more of life than the reader, doesn’t see the villain or solution until the very end. It’s maddening. I was screaming “DUH!” in my head so often that i had to put the book down and go do other things. So characters: not smart enough for their age. Plot: holes abound. Editing: still atrocious. This may be the last i read from this author-duo.

All the elements for success were there, but the characters felt shallow and I never truly felt a connection between any of them. It was as if the authors were just telling me that I had to feel a certain way about a relationship, but that feeling never translated into the text.

Wow, just wow. And this meant in a negative way: The story becomes even crazier, if not hilarious. Eve's personal development isn't realistic at all, even if you consider the genre background.
It's nearly comical to watch her and the guys and the plot... Ouch. Just ouch.

Furthermore the promised Harem scenario is boring.

I liked the first book for its idea and characters, but this is just over the top.

The first book I enjoyed. It had lots of promise.
Then I read the second book and it just didn't deliver.
The last book just plain meehh.

This is the first series of the author duo Karpov and Kinrade I read. Thank you for the free audiobooks included in my subscription. Otherwise I wouldn't have read this series, because they are not in my KU subscription. (I do understand why author don't do KU and I'm okay with this.) Also the blurb did not interest me so much that I wanted to buy the books. But I was wrong.

I like the unique description of vampires. Normally I avoid Vampire books, but I enjoyed this series. I liked that it wasn't drawn out. I never felt bored or got distracted and binge listened to the three books in the series.

I would recommend to give it a try.

Disappointing ending to a series that began with such promise.

The first book in “The Night Firm” series was very intriguing and captured my attention right from the first page. The second book wavered from the original plot and seemed to lose track of where the story was supposed to go. Sadly, this third and final book is a big disappointment. If the authors had stuck to the original premise of a law firm run by vampires, the story would have been fantastic. Instead, they wander off on this convoluted path in The Otherworld, with too many characters and too much focus on Eve and her powers. The Night brothers become secondary characters and there is very little in the way of relationship development between Eve and her guys. What started off with a bang, unfortunately, ended with a small fizzle. Disappointing to say the least.

"Mother of Dragons", seriously?!? For that alone it lost a star point.

Half of the book I was bored and really just wanted to be done with it.

While I liked it well enough as a fantasy story, the romance simply felt flat, there's no passion, no heat and waxing lyrical about when actually do get together just sounds weird. It doesn't even feel like much of a harem, since there are no relationships to speak of. Just Eve and a collection of guys.

The Night brothers themselves have become little more than extras and a lot of the time it feels like everyone has forgotten that they're vampires as well and not just druids.

But really book 2 and especially book 3 are all about Eve. Eve. Eve. Also everyone seems to have dumbed-down significantly. Eve is supposed to be a genius. Elijah, too and I don't see any of that translated into the story.

On a side note editorial and grammatical issues (like keeping your tenses straight) are worse than ever.

3.5 rounded up

I really enjoyed the first novel in this series, the second was decent and whole this one was very entraining, it didn’t quite live up to the appeal of the previous offers. Almost too much happens and it feels a bit forced in areas - and the relationships that seem like they should be the most important parts, aren’t. Oh, they are there, but it’s not THE story, of that makes sense. Still good though, if McGuffin played.

Just finished this complex and captivating trilogy. I really enjoyed it! Lots of twists and surprises. Powerful enemies, evolving relationships and some mystery suspense. The ending kept my attention and the overall storyline was wrapped up in a way that was satisfying. I will definitely recommend this paranormal reverse harem romance to my friends.

The plot was great, I loved the direction it was heading. I loved the characters, but felt lack of depth and connection they were supposed to have.

I was right Eve is freaking Mary Sue! This book would be a 2.5 stars. I still appreciated the twists and turns through reading this book but Eve was such a boring character in this book compared to the 1st and 2nd. This felt rushed and sloppy, I have way too many questions that leaves me unsatisfied with the conclusion of the book. Everyone's personality and character basically stayed the same and everything about this book felt shallow. I was so happy that I finally got the conclusion of the book and I was going to rate it 5 stars, but as I sit and ponder about it the more annoyed I actually am. I have way too many questions unanswered and thats why it deserves a 2.5 stars.

Like,

Who destroyed the secret library and why?

Who is Cole? What's his personality? Why does he just suddenly appear out of nowhere and rescues them? How does/will he get along with his siblings? Cole's character felt so rushed and shallow. There was so much to it, especially with the light and dark theme, but he was barely in the book and suddenly comes to the rescue. This makes me so frustrated.

Who were the three figures on the cliff? Who is Eve's mother? If Eve is a Fate who and what is her brother? How did the Maiden Fate died?

Overall as I look back at the book I am left unsatisfied, there was so much potential in the 1st book and it just went downhill from there.

Did not finish at 30%. Things developed in a rushed and forced manner. None of the characters ponder how come the heroine is all mighty all of a sudden? She adapts all too easily to her new powers and position which makes her unsympathetic, along with the brothers who become simple sidekicks.
There was a bit more conflicts in book 1, which drew me in this series.
In this one, being the chosen one and having everything handed to her (powers, recognition, relationships, friendships) was so boring and evident.
It didn’t make me want to know more about where the plot was going. I can see it a mile away, there’s no suspense or emotional attachment to what happens to them all at this point.
That’s a shame.

The final pieces of the puzzle are finally laid out in front of you as Eve sees what/who she really is. With the help of the Night brothers, she'll do what it takes to save the world in which she lives, and is the very essence of her being.

I loved reading this book, being able to feel the intensity in which the author has so carefully crafted was intense. Eve is a woman who needs to get things done in situations that others would crumble under.

Characters, writing style, world development - check, check, check! Karpov Kinrade is a triple threat!

I want to like this. This series had all the elements of being great. But there was too many threads and it all happened at once. The climax was a true climax and I’ll admit, I was surprised a few times, but that doesn’t excuse rushed story telling.
This premise is great. But then it tried to be a romance for most of the characters and so you didn’t get to know any of them in-depth. Especially while trying to crime solve and discover who/what Eve is and acquaint yourself with the new world...
Ugh. Disappointing, BUT I’m glad I finished it.

Beautifully Written

Like all good things, "The Night Firm" comes to an end, and what a thrilling, exciting and fun story from start to finish!
This final book exceeded my expectations, with uncanny yet strong character development, world building that really brings you into the story itself and a storyline that keeps you reading, with the excitement and the darkness that is "The Night Firm"

The world and expanded and magic is growing stronger for the fate. To help those in need, Eve and the Night brothers have been trying to help build homes as farmers. Then the murder of one of the greatest beings in the Otherworld sends the most powerful being of them all on a mission to destroy the entire Otherworld and rip it shreds. With only 2 weeks the spare, the Firm needs to do everything in their power to solve this case and save everyone they love.

I really enjoyed this book and even go a little emotional at the very end. The romance was definitely there and we finally get the moments we’ve been waiting for since book one. This was my first time reading about a polyamorous relationship and I think it was done really well. I don’t have any real world knowledge about this type of relationship so I don’t know if how smoothly this relationship went is how any real world polyamorous relationship would go. Beyond that, we got answers to many of the questions we were wondering about and learned more about the history of the brothers and the Order.

Even though I did get a little emotional on the very last page, I would have wished for a greater attachment to all the characters so that I could really feel connected to everything and feel the tension from the risks they were taking. Besides Eve and the brothers, I did really enjoy our background characters though I wish we would have gotten a little bit more of Lily in this book.

Fast paced dash to the solving of the crime(s) and pulling of all the loose threads finally together. Eve now knows who she is. And by the end we know who a lot of characters are. There have been so many secrets, and so much loss. Because of Eve we learn to see so many through new eyes and with a compassionate perspective. We ache for their losses and their griefs. And when the end of all things is finally reached, we can celebrate for the new beginnings.

I feel like almost too much happens in this third book of the trilogy. We learn SO much and SO quickly that it feels like we're all a wee bit spinny. It's great to finally get answers to so many of the questions. I could have done without all the wedding/marriage questions in the epilogue... it pulls us out of the fantasy world. But the goodbyes through the portal are sweet. That's our resolution there.

A gripping fantasy. Could have been a little more subtle with the social agenda elements, because I don't know that those added much to the story itself. The larger puzzle/mystery was fantastic.

Not my favorite but still enjoyed it.

I love reading paranormal RHs involving all manner of supernaturals and other worlds so it was easy for me to like this series. I still felt as if a lot of the story was glossed over, like the relationship building, why it seemed as if Eve’s daughter knew of her abilities as a child, and historic details about the Otherworld, the Order, and the Dragons.

Eve is a character who is wise beyond her years which can probably be attributed to the fact she is a fate. She always seems to have some sage advice for the people in her life.

I thought it was a decent series despite my complaints but it was a quick read. I just wish the execution was a little better with more in depth details.

I Am the Night was not necessarily my favorite book of the 3. The ending felt a bit rushed and not necessarily satisfying. As others have noted, we never really got to see the characters deeply. I think this was partly due to the lack of detail throughout this book. The descriptions did not always bring the scenes to life, and sometimes the language used was altogether too simple. What kept me motivated to finish the book was the strong plot line. The story is definitely unique and exciting. Overall, I think there were strong elements that just weren’t fully developed, leaving a feeling of apathy for me at the end of the day.

I Am The Night is the 3rd book in The Night Firm series and it is amazing.. I loved reading it. I loved the surprises, twists and the small skirmishes.. they were lots of fun.
Eve is the Paralegal that works for the Night Brothers.. The Brothers are Vampires Lawyers/Druids of the Elements (Wind, Water, Air and Fire) and at the end of book 2 we find that Eve is the reborn Fate.. that was surprising for Eve to find out what she really was.
The Authors did an awesome job putting everything together.

This series conclusion followed in the same vein as the two previous books. We see powers unfold as relationships continued to be forged. The brothers are all intense with very unique personalities. Eve is a force all on her own. She's bold and take charge.

At the brink of destruction, everything comes together. With vampires, dragons, unicorns, and many other supes, this shows us sides to supernaturals that are both frightening and delightful.

The END 😱?

This series has been absolutely amazing from first book to last 😃. It's unusual for me to read three books back to back, but I found it impossible to stop reading 😉. This series has everything you could ever want in a story, action, emotions, mystery, love and wonderful characters of all kinds 😍. Thanks again Karpov, your writing is truly a wonder and I can't tell you just how much I look forward to reading more 🤓.

The series has come to an end, I was entertained with their cases and solving their mysteries. But that’s just what this is very plot heavy. You could see that the author tried to focus on the characters and give them something. But it felt very superficial without any real work put in. Which really bugged me there seemed to be a lot of promise with the characters too. But alas things did not go that way. I had some fun but will not be picking this up again.

Great series

I’m off to read the rest of these books by this author duo. Great storytelling and the poems in the beginning of each chapter really made the story special and wonderful. I love the writing style and the mind of the author in writing this series is a special place to be. This series made connections to a lot of thoughts I have had and voiced a strong heroine.
