Sure, it's a cheesy soap opera set in a hospital, but I'm a sucker for tsundere characters like the mean doctor who is the crush our of our heroine and the reason she has become a nurse. This should be fun for a few more volumes at least.

I had quite forgotten how Josei manga are fun to read and at the same time quite unrealistic. I don't mean this in a bad way but sometimes you just need these kinds of old-school manga to cheer you up. The age-old trope in Asian dramas of one-sided love by a naive clumsy female lead towards a cold arrogant male lead seems to never go away and maybe it's not a bad thing. For me reading this felt nostalgic for the time when I watched Itazura Na Kiss when I was a teen and for some reason, actually liked it.

I watched the live-action drama based on this and it was my favorite drama of 2020. I am so excited to read this entire series. I got the first five volumes of this for Christmas and I know it's a little too early in the year to be going for the manga but I just can't wait to read this any longer.

Ooo I enjoyed this!! The setting is fun and something different from what I usually read and the story is interesting! The mc though is dumb for choosing a whole ass career for a man she met once BUT I am having fun reading so!!

I didn't dislike this volume but I did have some issues with it. I think that the relationship between the characters is toxic for both of them. The male love interest is very mean and his actions towards the girl are very confusing. And the main female character is very annoying and kind of stupid. I did enjoy the story being set in a hospital. Overall I think the story is a good idea but Maki Enjoji didn't execute it very well. I will give it one more volume before I decide to drop the series.

Wait this was actually so freaking good??? It was kind of giving Grey’s Anatomy. The FMC is super fun and bubbly, and the MMC is a hardass and hotshot doctor who starts training her as his nurse. Even though this is only 5 issues, I think the feelings progression feels very genuine! I’m excited to continue on with this because I enjoyed pretty much everything about this one.

3.5 I had mixed thoughts on this one. I love the art style. I love the overall plot but it did fall a little flat for me. There was too much repetition and it almost felt like telling the same story every single chapter. I do see a lot of potential so I'm going to stick with the series! I'd also still recommend it.

Nanase is about to start her career as a nurse under Dr Tendo who happens to be the reason she became a nurse in the first place. Five years prior, the two met while trying to save a stranger after which Nanase fell in love with the doctor. Now, not only does Dr Tendo not remember her, but he is also remorselessly demanding and the reason for the nurse shortage in their department. Nanase however refuses to be bullied out and earns the title of The Valliant one for trying to stand up to the grouchy doctor.

While I don't like it quite as much as Happy Marriage?!, this combines all things I like about Enjouji Maki. Nanase and Dr Tendo are a bickering couple that is just super fun to read about. I wouldn't call a particularly deep story but it's just plain and simple fun. While An Incurable Case of Love does try to add a bit of seriousness by going into stories of loved ones lost through illness, I didn't feel like those elements added much to the story.

Although this is largely a RomCom, I actually really enjoyed the hospital setting and how it was handled. It felt like a lively area where we also got to know some of the main characters' colleagues - while they were never fleshed out, it did create a sense of reading about a workplace community. I thought the nickname Valliant One was endearing and it was fun to see how all the staff kept tabs on the developing relationship.

Nanase, or rather the Valliant One, was quite a nice lead character. I liked that she didn't immediately continue liking Dr Tendo just because of his looks but most importantly, I like that she comes to care for her work for her own sake and always strives to better herself. In a way, she did end up choosing her workplace over Dr Tendo. Even though she often doubts herself, I think she makes a strong character in many ways.

Dr Tendo is unapologetically grumpy - he's not a brooding hero with a sad past. He's just the way he is, he knows it and doesn't care what others think of him. Of course, he learns to be more friendly in his own way and Nanase helps him loosen up, but I like that there's no particular reason behind his moods or any story that's supposed to make us feel sorry for him.

I suppose a lack of depth is what keeps me from loving it, but there is otherwise nothing I can fault it with. It's a fun RomCom, an easy read with likeable characters and nice art. I'm definitely hoping this wasn't the last of Enjouji Maki!

Impressions thus far (up to about volume 3):

- The h is ridiculous.
- The obstacles to love (which are a staple of shoujo manga) are crazy tropey.
- The H switches between sweet, and harsh in a heartbeat (and what is with his tolerance for the h's skills as a nurse?!)

This manga is seriously maddening. I like the art, but the storyline is ludicrous.

Enjoji fans will enjoy this new series, which has many similarities to the popular Happi Marriage?!. Quirky, kind of dumb, but energetic heroine paired with an alpha male obsessed with work. It's hard to tell from this first volume how the series will go - but Enjoji always make you care about her leads no matter where she takes them so it should be another fun series.

Story: Nanase stumbles upon a seriously injured person and realizes she doesn't know how to help them. Fortunately, Dr. Tendo happened to be there and took care of the situation. Right then and there, Nanase fell in love and decided to become a nurse. Five years later, she is assigned to Dr. Tendo's unit - only to find he's a monster! Nice to the patients but an absolutely 'evil lord' to the staff. But Nanase is plucky - and decides to stick with the career even if the love didn't work out.

So again, another sweet romance where the heroine will have to win over the heart of her 'beast'. Since this is the first volume, we haven't been introduced to the multiple side characters yet. But I know they are coming to complicate or facilitate Nanase's love life. And in the meanwhile, Dr. Tendo will be sadistic to his nurse-in-training until he falls in love himself.

I am currently undecided how to rate this manga. It was not bad mind you! It was just different than I excepted.

I knew when starting An Incurable Case of Love that some intense events happen (such as a non-graphic incident of someone trying to suicide and a non-graphic incident involving sexual harassment). However, I was deeply intrigued by the premise and Shojo Beat publishing their first medical romance.

Despite the intensity of the setting, the author did an amazing job of weaving in humor and still have a blooming romance. I found Nanase to be a fantastic heroine to cheer for because she really grows as a person and nurse. Her newfound motivation of why she wants to do well as a nurse was awesome!

Her interactions with Dr. Tendo are sometimes sweet and sometimes plain out hilarious. (I laughed more then once and then when the laughter subsided, I went back and reread it again so I could laugh some more.) I'm really excited for their romance to unfold even though I'm wondering how it will within the working of a hospital.

I believe Shojo Beat mentioned that this is more considered a josei manga and agree. I would recommend to readers who like reading josei, comfortable reading about "nurse life," and enjoy a nice romance.

It was sweet, fun and light....

Until the doctor kissed the nurse while she was completely drunk (and he completely sober). I know to some people it can be triggering.

So just be aware of that.

Other than that, I honestly enjoyed it. I think it touches many great subject other than the romance, such as the pressure in the medical system for the workers, and the performance expectations, and death.

it's cute but at the same time it is so toxic. i can't count the number of times i've read a shoujo/josei manga where the male lead's whole personality is just be a fucking tsundere , while the heroine is a masochist and ditzy girl who can't survive without the male lead. i think we can all collectively agree to leave that trope in 2010-2015.

But when they two finally reunite, working together as doctor and nurse, he’s nothing like the kind and charming prince she believed Kairi Tendo to be. Now they’re at each other’s throats and Sakura is determined to prove him wrong that she can be a helpful nurse!

Readers, I ate this manga up! It was so good, so captivating, and I need 2020 to be here now so I can get Volume Two ! I also got a little soft and sappy because I do have family members and a few friends who are nurses. Not to mention the vibes of the whole romance in this manga is something I can’t get enough of in relationships. This was everything I needed to pull me out of a slump, everything I wanted with a romance, and I just love this series a whole lot!

“I wanted to see that smile again.”

In this story we follow Nanase Sakura who decided that she was going to become a nurse after meeting a handsome young doctor five years ago when she was trying to save a woman’s life. She ends up landing at the same hospital as the young doctor, but when she reunites with the doctor things don’t go quite as she imagined. He’s very harsh, majority of the nurses usually transfer from his department, and there’s rumors of him being loose with women. Now Nanase is in for a world of shock and has to work with Kairi Tendo who is anything, but easy-going on her.

I love the dynamic of our two main characters. So we have Nanase Sakura who has a very bright, sensitive, and easy-going personality that completely clashes with the personality of Dr. Kairi Tendo. Kairi Tendo on the other hand is abrasive, harsh, and takes everything very seriously. When you put these two personalities together it’s a recipe for a good hate to love trope to happen. Not to mention their work environment just becomes a tense battle ground of banter. It’s so good and there’s so much humor in the little moments. There’s also so really great moments when they aren’t bantering or being stubborn with one another. It’s a really great dynamic and the chemistry between these two characters is something I truly enjoyed reading.



We also get some really great side characters who make things really interesting. We get introduced to Nana which is Kairi’s sister. She’s a really bright, caring, positive energy of a character who delivers a great foundations for a friendship with Nanase. I really wish we had more scenes with her because I loved the scenes with her coming into the picture and I loved the way she introduced herself in this manga. Fingers crossed for more scenes with her! We also get introduced to a character by the name of Nishi. Compared to Dr. Tendo, Nishi is loved by all the nurses and patients, has a caring personality, and is really warm and welcoming. I have a feeling he’s going to play a bigger role in later issues because there’s just too many hints that he might be playing a bigger part than what we realize. There’s so many great characters and they truly help build the scene and the work environment for our two main characters.

Unfortunately, this book did have some issues that didn’t sit too well with me. However, out of all the little minor things in this book, my biggest issue was with the sexual assault situation. My biggest issue with this scene in particular is the fact that Nanase feels the need to convince herself that what’s happening is normal, that it’s okay, that this is all part of her job as a nurse and that she sees this as something she needs to overcome or get used to. I also don’t like the fact that Nanase went searching for help and guidance and she wasn’t met with any answers that she needed for her particular situation. Then there’s the matter of Dr. Tendo coming into the picture. I don’t like how once Dr. Tendo became involved the scene of sexual assault became set up as a “knight in shining armor to save the princess” type of situation. I understand why it was setup the way it was, but the whole scene in general just didn’t sit well with me, personally.



Overall, I really enjoyed this manga and still had a great time reading it even though there were some scenes that bothered me. This is one of my favorite tropes and I’m really excited for the next issues to come out. 2020 can’t get here soon enough! This is also one of my favorite authors. Maki Enjoji is also the author of the Happy Marriage?! series and that’s probably my standing favorite this author has written so far. So if you end up liking this manga series then you will probably enjoy some of her other work as well. She’s just a really great author and she has given me some of my favorite tropes. I highly recommend her books!

Enjoyable and interesting, this was a great start to the manga.

If, like me, you came here after watching the show, then you will be very surprised to find this is an entirely different story. The tone, the characters and a lot of the storylines are completely different to the point that the show is hardly recognisable compared to the source.
But that doesn’t mean that either this or the show are any less enjoyable. In fact, their differences are so vast that you can enjoy both versions of this story to the same extent, which in my case is a very large amount.

What was most likeable about this was for that it wasn’t afraid to explore topics of more depth like sexual harassment and death, neither of which you would expect from a typical doctor/nurse romance. It didn’t brush on the topics, they fed into the overarching desire of the protagonist’s to be a good nurse, which is an admirable goal. Although she may have entered the profession with strange intentions of doing it for love, the fact that she was willing to embrace being a better nurse is what made her such a likeable character.

In fact, all of the characters were very likeable. Although there aren’t actually many of them, and some from the show are not in this volume. But the lack of characters only added to the time that was then allowed to explore the protagonist and the male love interest. They had a great dynamic and so much potential to expand upon that I can’t wait to see where the story takes their budding relationship next.

One day, while working at the bookstore, I was shelving some manga and spotted this one in the mature section. I was intrigued by the title and wanted to know more. So naturally, as any book lover would do, I took a picture and added it to my never-ending “if I have extra money TBR.” No one else does that? Just me?

Once I decided to purchase it, I realized that part of what attracted me to this one was that I wanted something different from what I had been reading. Up until this point, I had been reading Outbride, My Happy Marriage, and The Saviors Book Cafe in Another World and had just started getting into manga that took place in the present day (Ladies on Top). I was not disappointed!

Usually, when I read romance novels, I enjoy a good age-gap romance, but I was not sure how I would feel about it as a manga. Something about seeing it makes it hit a little different than when you can imagine it yourself, but I don’t mind it. I don’t think the age gap is too large, but I could be wrong. Regardless, I really like the grumpy/sunshine, different personalities that Nanase and Tendo have. This dynamic makes for a drama-filled yet suspenseful pairing. With every interaction, you are given the opportunity to learn more about each of the characters.

We see a lot of Nanase and her perspective throughout this book, and I wish we saw more of Tendo, but I guess that adds to his mysterious appeal. But when we see glimpses of him and his thoughts, they are great.

This book offers a mix of cute and intense moments, but it also includes some serious themes. I was surprised by the trigger warnings mentioned at the end of the synopsis. They are real and can affect people differently, so it’s important to be mindful of your boundaries. The book handles these topics with care, ensuring a respectful reading experience.

Since I was so captivated by the first volume and found myself with more questions about their relationship than answers, I couldn’t resist and immediately purchased volume 2. I’m eagerly looking forward to diving into it, hoping to find some of the answers I’m seeking. And one last thing…the nosy sister is a phenomenal touch!

how is this rated so fucking high.

the fmc is the door mattiest door mat to exist. she literally has 0 will of her own. the mmc is straight up abusive. he literally slapped her. and keeps throwing shit at her. ive barely seen people take issue w this in reviews tbh. im so surprised.

such a shame. the mmc is so fucking fine but he's such an asshole. the whiplash is unreal. he goes from being the worst to being the softest for 3 seconds flat.

people say grey's anatomy vibes but except for the fact that they work in a hospital and the whole "he's a doctor and she works under him" thing literally nothing else else is similar

Mehhhh... I really wanted to love this, but this just felt okay to me. I loved the ending; I thought it was really sweet. But I seriously cringed through the first half of the manga.

I was also kind of confused by the sequencing of the manga. Not sure if it's just because I'm a new manga reader, but the way some of the scenes were sequenced made it difficult to understand. It was like one second we were reading about her at work, and then the next, she would be talking to her friends with absolutely no transition at all. It would always take me a second to realize where she was, what she was doing, etc.

Overall I liked this, and I'll probably still read the second volume, but it wasn't as memorable as I hoped it would be.

There were some parts I enjoyed less than others, but overall it was entertaining. Definitely has hospital soap opera vibes and idk if that’s a good or bad thing (for me), but I think I’ll pick up the next book and decide from there.
