Oh boy, prepare yourself for a lot of filler

So the last volume ended off with the auction stuff and deciding to go to his home village. The bulk of this book consisted of him running around town letting people know he's going to be gone for a couple weeks and buying supplies for the trip. I kid you not, hundreds of pages of shopping... Sort of. There was an interesting conversation with the guild master, and some resolutions along the way but for the most part this book was filler. It ends with them standing outside the village, they haven't even entered the village! Considering I categorize the last two volumes as mostly filler, I'm feeling quite frustrated with the series. If I hadn't of impulse bought All of the novels on a good point day I'm not sure I'd still be reading...

The manga is so much better. They abridged out all of the filler in the last two books plus this book, three books total, still haven't managed to get me from volume 10 to volume 11 in the manga. I feel like three stars is me being generous, considering I actually think I would have dropped the series under normal circumstances. I did however enjoy the guildmaster interlude. Oh and the wand making filler was cute. There was definitely a lot of content that was taken out of the manga but I don't think the mongo was worse for not having it and I'm not sure if I feel like it was worth reading this volume for the extra tidbits.

Nothing happens. Literally. Our protagonist randomly wonder around various places in town. This volume set various plot points for letter use, but all of them are left at that. I just hope half of them won't be forgotten by author later.

And internal monologue that go about some unrelated varia or several times explains the same is still there.

Rentt has narrowly escaped being exposed as a vampire (although he may not, he suspects, be a vampire as such), but with the vampire hunter still in town, now seems like a really good time to take a vacation. Lorraine approves, and the two of them prepare to visit Rentt's hometown.

Despite being a volume entirely dedicated to Rentt preparing to go home, this managed to renew my interest. Rentt has a goal again (if short-term), and he's taking steps to reach that. I was also happy to see the flower delivery quest wasn't totally forgotten, and that he has to plan around that.

I also enjoyed the bit where Rentt and Alize are making their wands. Rentt's decision for his wand's shape was also fun.

So overall this volume is mostly tying up a few loose ends, proving some worldbuilding, and setting the stage for what's to come. I rate this book Neutral.

Rentt ties up some loose ends, prepares for the trip to his home village and sets out together with Lorraine. Which more or less sums up the whole book. Like previous volumes the world building and characters are what keeps me hooked on the story. The story being mostly slice-of-life with at best a slow burn plot is not a negative for me, at least not in combination with the characters and world. What does lower my enjoyment is the occasional meandering and repetitive writing style. It might be less then in previous volumes, and it might fit Rentt's personality, but when it happens it feels like things are being dragged out unnecessarily. Add in the fact that it was a short book even compared to other light novels and it left me a bit disappointed. Still a good read, not enough to turn me away from the series (if it would, I never came this far), just not the best in the series.

I am enjoying the series, but this has no right to be a stand alone book. Last volume, they talked about going to visit our Protagonist's home town and pretty much the entire plot this time is them getting ready and then traveling for a few days. Stuff happens, but it's in the most meandering way possible. Whoever decided on the contents of the individual volumes of this series should be embarrassed! Vol 4 and 5 should really have been edited down a bit, and combined into a single volume at the least.

I still like the series, but there was no arc in this volume at all, which makes it a bit of an ask to recommend someone buying it, unless you're picking up the whole thing in one go.

This volume wasn't bad, but it was unnecessary. You can skip it, and you would have missed anything of importance; the whole book could have been an extra story. I've noticed this author sometimes puts things in the book that should be an extra story, and vice versa. On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!

The plot moves along with interesting hints of small developments. It's at the normal slow life pace so no u have to be patient.

Rent being a artificer beyond reproach is rather entertaining.
