I Know This Guy....

I read this book with zero expectations. A guy I went to school with wrote it and I was intrigued and figured why not?

After reading the foreword written by his wife, I was hooked! She was witty, sarcastic and just plain sweet when writing about her husband.

This book answered a lot of questions that I didn't know I had about the porn industry from an insider's point of view. It was gritty, honest and just downright funny! The writer nailed it with his candor.

When I was finished, I agreed with the author about finding the love of his life. I liked when he said that their life was far from perfect but they were living their best life possible! That is what it all about it!

I have followed Vic and his wife on social media for years now, I listen to their podcast, and I've got some of her art in my house. That being said, this isn't a review based on any of that, it's of the book and the quality.
This book was comfortable read for me, there wasn't anything I would consider crazy or odd. It felt like I was sitting around reading something a friend wrote and enjoying it.

You can tell this guy thinks he's a lot more clever and smarter than he really is. Also think it's funny he's giving advice about relationships despite being divorced and being remarried for only two years.

2.5/5

Two pages in I had to remind myself that I have seen the author on his podcast in order to remember that the tone of this is supposed to be "funny, loud, New Yorker" as not knowing how the author presents, this book feels like a 150 pages of someone yelling at you about how awful porn fans are. Which is an odd tone for a book written by someone married to a porn star. The underlining lessons learned (my marriage is awesome and a huge chunk of the fanbase is horrible) is all well and good, but this feels like an angry comic on an open mike who never hits the punchline. Since it's a series of rants, I won't mention some of the double sidedness like false causations and what not since I think this is supposed to be a humour piece.

Truth!!

Seriously I've been saying some of this for years. I have lost 'friends' for being so outspoken with beliefs some consider to be 'radical', 'taboo' or 'corruptive'. Give it a read, it's an open minded, completely honest, in depth read that might just help open your eyes. Well done Vic!! You and your wife are amazing.

It was a fun, practical guide to heterosexual relationships. I needed it in between some heavy reading this Summer.

This guy's voice just comes across as slimy. Grating to read, but it's no surprise since he spent his whole life in advertising
