A MISSING STRIPPER, MOTORCYCLE GANGS, AND TOO MANY EX-BOYFRIENDS TO COUNT…. Katy Munger’s Casey Jones has her hands full avenging the death of one of her oldest friends -- while trying to keep unruly strippers and untrustworthy bikers in line.
Casey Jones is back with a new adventure that takes her from four-foot strippers to forty-something bikers—and a head-on collision with too many ex-boyfriends to count. Will regrets slow her down? Can anything stop her? So long as she has caffiene and Krispy Kremes within reach, Casey's never calling it quits. But will her stubbornness pay off?
When The Tiny Dancers hit Raleigh, North Carolina, the diminutive strippers are a huge hit. Men line up and down the block to watch their rootin' and tootin' topless routine. But someone's not a fan and the vicious death threats the Tinajero sisters are receiving kick Casey into high gear.
But when what should have been a routine bodyguarding case turns deadly, and Casey loses one of her oldest friends, the case turns personal in more ways than one. Her friend is dead, one of the strippers is missing, and the handsome biker Casey met the night before sure seems to be in it up to his neck. Vowing to track the killers and find the missing stripper, who may or may not be in on the murder, Casey sets out on what turns out to be a wild ride that takes her from the flatlands of eastern North Carolina to its most exclusive mountain enclaves.
But no woman is an island and Casey knows she can't do it on her own. Fans of Casey Jones will recognize their favorites in the cast of colorful supporting characters who answer Casey’s “all hands on deck!” call. From her 360-pound boss Bobby D. and his epic meals, to police mole Marcus Dupree and his magic keyboard, to ex-boyfriends Burly and frenemy Detective Bill Butler, Casey needs all the help she can get -- even if she's too stubborn to admit it.
If you’ve been missing your kick-ass Casey and craving Krispy Kremes, you’ll find all that you need in this seventh installment of a beloved female P.I. series.
If you love a good plot laced with plenty of humor and lots of heart, it's time you discovered Casey Jones. Her tough as nail exterior and no-nonsense self-awareness is a combination that appeals to male and female readers alike.

I have loved Casey for years and was so excited to see a new book after so long. Thankfully it didn’t disappoint and reminded me how much I love this series. Casey and Bobby D really cemented their relationship in the last book and it was wonderful to see them back together. I loved Bill Butler in this book. Even though Burly was such an asshole at the end of book five I really tried to get past it in book six and not hate him. Any goodwill feelings I might have had were smashed in this book. You are dead to me Burly. Even though Shep was only mentioned I am hoping and praying for another book with him in it. When the series ends, ( please not yet ), I want to know 100% that Casey has her happy ending and that it is with Shep. I want a wedding planned by Marcus with Bobby D in one of his amazing outfits. I want Casey and Bobby D to ride off solving another case but now Shep is by Casey’s side. And I just want more Casey.
Katy Munger has turned out another gripping mystery. Just like all the previous books in the series, Fire and Rain will keep you reading late into the night. Full of surprises, a bit of romance, many twists and turns, the quirky (and often aggravating) P.I. Casey will keep you entertained, whether it's on the edge of your seat during her often hare-brained escapades or laughing out loud at her bizarre sense of humor. While each book could stand alone, the endings in every one always leave you wanting more. I highly recommend you read the series in order, if only to keep the men in her life straight!
Another decent ride with Casey Jones. The mystery was done well enough that it kept me guessing and the clients (and their family) were rather interesting. I am just so over Casey going it alone and getting caught. It happens in EVERY book. Almost beat for beat, complete with her silly back and forth with the bad guy or their guards. Also, why is Burly suddenly an immature jerk?
Fire and Rain catches up with Casey Jones. The events in the book seem to have occurred some months after the previous installment, published ten years previously.
This isn't the best book in the series as the central plot is rather slight, particularly as it centres on the death of a friend of Casey's who I can't remember much of at all. Bobby D is one of my favourite characters in all of literature (truthfully), but not many others stand out, especially since there's been a big gap since I was last in the Casey-verse.
However, this book is less about the plot than it is giving a send-off to a character who richly deserves one. Something I suspect may have been influenced by Sue Grafton dying before she could write that Z is for.
It took me almost two years to get around to reading “Fire and Rain”, the seventh in the 'Casey Jones Mysteries' series. Which was a pity as it is a fine read. P. I. Casey is called in to investigate disturbing threats being made to two four-foot sisters who are pulling the crowds in with their exotic dancing. “So long as it didn’t involve donkeys, I thought I could take it.” No donkey, but there is a Shetland pony! But, when one of the sisters is kidnapped and Casey's friend Rats is murdered, it gets very personal. Published ten years after the previous book in the series, it doesn't have the strongest plot but Casey, with all her quirks, is a force of nature and not someone to underestimate. Great fun. 4 Stars.
She may be big, and she may be carrying a few extra pounds, but she's all woman! Lots of mystery and suspense. Well written prose and believable dialogue with great character development make this a great story. I wish there were more.
Great to see Casey Jones back in action after a long absence.Enjoyed her smart assery. Plenty of action in a plot involving small people, bikers and endless krispy kremes. Hopefully next instalment isn't too far away.
I have always loved this series. I hope the author keeps adding to it and will not let so much time pass between books. Thank you, Katy, for some wonderful hours spent with these characters. You bring laughter and tears with your words. Casey is definitely someone to follow and root for.
Fast moving with lots of quirky characters. And a hero whose BMI is probably off the charts! Our shared love of Krispy Kremes probably influences my admiration, but I think that Casey Jones was portrayed as more of a real person than most.
I love this series and think it should be made by Netflix I am just trying to figure out who the actress should be I hope we are going to get more books soon
Happy was the day that I realized there was a new Casey Jones book to read! And Ms Munger did not disappoint me! When I started reading, I couldn't imagine enjoying a book about two Little People exotic dancers! So not my style, but within pages I was hooked. Turns out there was a lot of psychology/family issues/deep friendships/and shockers packed within those 264 pages! Parts of it I didn't like. (Burly and his passive-aggressive attitude for one. Why help someone if you hate them so?) Parts were horrible. (Rats death.) Parts were funny and included lovable characters. (Marcus and his assessment of Casey's note taking.) But the total package was a fun to read and exciting mystery. I echo other readers in hoping there is at least one more book so we can see Casey get her HEA. Really enjoyed this book!!!
Love Casey Jones! Each book gets better and better. This series is one of the best I've read! Katy Munger has drawn such great characters and a heroine that long time mystery readers can't wait to get to know!
I really love this series. This was not my favorite book of the series, but it was nice to read about Casey once again. I would rate this one 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
