Atsushi Ōkubo ( 大久保篤), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.
Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.
2nd Reading: I'm re-reading the manga starting from this volume thanks to the third season of the anime.
Despite being the start of the Stigma arc, it can also be considered to be a new training arc. Shinra, Arthur and now Tamaki go to Asakusa to both question Konro and get training. It is good that Tamaki is trying to get stronger after Juggernaut protected her with his life but I am still not very fond of her and I don't know why. It is really good to see Benimaru and I am also curious to see what the new power-up is going to be for Arthur and Shinra. Aside from the whole training thing, the 8th together with other companies try to find the connection between scars, Adolla link and the Evangelist.
Fire Force, Vol. #20 - ★★★☆☆ (3.5) Fire Force, Vol. #21 - ★★★☆☆ (3.5) Fire Force, Vol. #22 - ★★★☆☆ (3.5)
Shinra & Joker vs burns? Fire !!!!! Shinra ended up carrying the whole thing tho. And the captain literally flexing on everyone. The 8th vs Gold was good but they defeated the other villains too quickly. Dragon vs Arthur so hype but the ending got me confused.
7/10 Típico arco de entrenamiento de Shonen de peleas, pero me entretuvo bastante la manera en la que se ejecutó. Se ven venir esos power-up chetados igual. Hubo bastante participación de Benimaru, lo cuál se agradece. Los últimos capítulos estuvieron interesantes y le tengo fe a este próximo arco.
Fire Force continues with Arthur, Shinra, and Tamaki receiving training from Benimaru. While the three train, Hague is murdered. His death is declared a suicide. The story moves quickly; Raffles III insists that the empire must cooperate with the White Clads for everyone's sake. Haumea convinces Burns to join them. This volume ends with Captain Obi's arrest and the 8th (along with Tamaki) preparing to save him.
The fan service is still present in the story—Tamaki's serious moments are often overshadowed by her so-called "lecher lure." This ongoing gag is becoming more and more tedious.
What surprised me the most in this volume is the impact that Rekka had on several characters. Nataku's PTSD was explored during the Hajime Industries Arc; and Tamaki and Karim Flam still remember his influence (even in this volume).
There are still a lot of mysteries left to uncover about the Adolla Link. However, we at least know that the White Clads are attempting to destroy the world in honor of their god. It's interesting that Ohkubo touches on the influence and corruption that powerful religions have on the public. A lot of what's written in this story reflects the same corruption we see from modern religions, specifically the Catholic Church. But that's a conversation for a later time...

A lot of really good set up for the next big arc as we see Shinra, Arthur and Tamaki get some serious training. It was nice to see Tamaki not only getting a huge upgrade but also get some more insight into her backstory. It was also really nice to see more of Hibana as the white Clad being their next plan and it was shocking to see them actually ally with the Church of Sol as we enter into the next big arc.
Things are starting to get truly dire for our heroes. After finally seeming to unite all of the Fire Force companies, things start to fall apart. Company 1's Capt. might have joined up with the White Clad and our dear Capt. Obi has been arrested as a traitor to the Empire. What are the rest of our heroes to do?
