Vow Duet #1

Vow of Revenge

Rate this book
I love the sound of a broken heart. Somehow it soothes my tortured soul.

Judge me, but if you’d seen the world through my eyes, you wouldn’t blame me. You’d seek justice, too.

Beautiful women shouldn’t be trusted. They think they’re in control. That I’m foolish enough to fall for their looks and manipulative tactics.

So it’s simple. I ruin them first. I’m not interested in happily ever afters.

That’s the plan. Until my cousin, Brett, hooks up with a Beaumont. The daughter of a wealthy family who has connections to my late father and ties with the secret society of male billionaires. The same club my father ruled with an iron fist and I’m banned from joining. Brett’s new union introduces me to the second sibling, the raven haired beauty with curious innocence to challenge the vengeance ruling my life.

Freya Beaumont turns my universe on its axis after one intense, messed up night together. I break my own rules. She could be my biggest conquest of all. Except, I crave her, even though I want to hate her.

Now the game really begins.

Every time we’re together, the sinister secrets of my past unravel. Forgotten memories I’ve buried deep within me are pushing their way to the surface. They make me question everything I believe to be true.

But this story has a secret even I didn’t see coming.

This is the 1st STANDALONE in the Vow Series.

📚 "𝑭𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓,
𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒌𝒆𝒑𝒕 𝒖𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒆.” 📚

Caleb's father was murdered by a woman when he was just a child. He doesn't remember the full details, but swears he will never let a woman be his downfall, so he punish women - as a twisted game. 😬

When Caleb meets Freya at a nightclub, he thinks that she has a stick in her ass and he has no idea why he's attracted to her so much... 😱
When Freya accidentally take Ecstasy for the first time in her life, she's scared, and Caleb decides to keep her safe until the effects of the drug go down. ❤

📚 “𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒎𝒆?”
“𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒆.” 📚

And so, they spend the night tonight together - and not by playing card games! LOL 😂
In the morning, Caleb starts to wonder if it was the drugs that made the night such a powerful experience, or was it all her? 🤔
And that's when the plot begins, with twisted cat and mouse games - because Caleb is torn between his confusing feelings for Freya and his vengeance on women and his father's killer. 😱

📚 "𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒆 , 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒏𝒆.” 📚

It took me a while to connect with the plot because the beginning is mysterious and confusing so I didn't quite understand what is going on, but I kept on reading...
I loved the writing, the twisted plot and the surprising twist... But there were a few things that bothered me, one of them was that as they tried to figure out what was going on between them, Caleb continued to sleep with other women - and I'm sorry, but I hate when man do that so much! it made me hate Caleb until I had to stop reading. 🤷‍♀️🙁

Don't get me wrong, the book wasn't bad at all, it's just wasn't my cup of tea... but if you like dark novels with surprising twists, you should try this book! ❤

Kaleb is broken and dangerous and Freya is a good girl about to get a real enlightening. This story is captivating, dark, sexy and addictive. Autumn has a real talent for luring in a reader and then before you know it your hooked. I love Autumns writing style, her characters are deep, and her story has so many layers to unfold.
FYI you will need tissues for this one and maybe even a blindfold at times!
I can’t wait to see what Autumn has in store for us next!

The hero hates all women as his father was killed by a woman and he has a wow of revenge on all women.

When he meets the heroine, he feels drawn to her and they start to sleep together on a night when she has taken Ecstasy. There are no feelings at first; everything between them is just physical. And as he is not sure what to feel about their relationship, he continues to sleep with other women for a long while.

I don't think I can get over this fact and then get invested in their love story, so it's a "nope" for me.

Holly Cow! Kaleb consumed me from the beginning. And the story broke my heart. As soon as I started to read Kaleb's POV, it was clear that a woman broke his heart. Somebody that meant a lot, but make him suffer. He built a wall and to enforce it, treated his conquers like objects. Just sex, with no strings attached. In his mind had one think, choose a girl for his vow of revenge.

An unexpected girl comes to his life. Someone who will join the pieces of his heart but not before fighting the feelings she awakens. And in the process it will cause pain for both of them.

"Freya was the worst evil of all, she had something all the others didn't have, an I couldn't put my finger on it."

The connection between Freya and Kaleb goes beyond the attraction they feel from the beginning.

"I couldn't help feeling she was the sorceress and I was under her spell as I struggled to keep my hand in place..."

But it was much stronger than they can imagine. There is a bond that will unite them. One that will become stronger when the vow of revenge becomes a redemption one.

"Together our hearts undertook their own secret mission to break free from restraints and beat as one."

The past and the present collide to usher the revelation of dark secrets, the healing of two wounded souls and the forgiveness they need to achieve their happy ending.

"I have to be the one to show her the words, the pain, the heartbreak, the torture, the reality. I deserved the opportunity to watch her feel the emotions, together, united. I needed her to heal my wounds, to accept my sacrifice and to try to love me, as I loved her."

I could not avoid surprise, compassion, sadness at certain times. If you are an emotional person, I advise you to prepare your mind and heart for this dark romance, with a plot that will leave you absolutely captivated.

I was very happy to know that Brett, Kaleb's cousin/brother will have his story. I like the single father trope and definitely, after what happened, I need to know more! I can't wait!!

“Foolishly for little mouse, her eyes locked with mine, our souls entwined. She fell into my darkness. It was consuming her, seeping into her soul and infecting her like a disease.”

Having read and enjoyed Autumn Archers previous work, VOW OF REVENGE was high on my “to read” list, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. Kaleb and Freya’s story is on the darker side and very intense at times; their chemistry was explosive! Autumn has a fantastic way with words and they just draw you in, keeping you right on the edge of your seat until the very end.

when it comes to autumn archer this not the first book I read. I have read all of her books and she is so talented. that author can swing from steamy light story to darker themed stories.
Vow of revenge is set by Kaleb that sweet big man who is rough, mean and a big asshole but deep down he was so broken. ever did something thought it's worth doing but it was in vain? yeah, I did anyway he meets this feisty young lady Freya. I loved her because she fights and bites back. she wasn't a weak female character like most the authors write.
the sex scenes were so steamy and hot (you need cold showers)
I loved how characters are well written and how connected they are. from the beginning of the book, you will know its different because the prologue was different and so intriguing. anyway, I don't want to spoil the book more. read it and you WILL never regret it

Heartbreaking and Tragic!

This story is one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride from beginning to end. With the authors powerful words she made me feel so many different emotions for each character in the story. I laughed, I cried and then I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall. I was completely enthralled! Then there are all the amazing panty melting moments thrown in - so hot!

The main characters are so well written you can’t help but fall in love (or hate) with them. Freya is a very strong and independent woman. She doesn’t let the little things get her down. Her past is heartbreaking but she is a fighter. Kaleb has a very dark and twisted past and because of his past he is out to destroy any woman that tries to get close to him. Freya is Kaleb’s kryptonite! She is his ultimate downfall and new beginning. They are explosive and powerful together. Their interactions are intense and combustible! I absolutely love these two characters!

Favourite quote: “It’s like we have a connection, a vein that tugs us together, bleeding our souls into one beautiful monster. It’s like he belongs to me, but he despises me all in one.”

The story is powerful from beginning to end. It will rip your heart out and gut you so be ready for the emotional ride this one will take you on. It is utterly fantastic and amazing. Highly recommend.

This was my first book by the author but I found her writing very engaging.
I finished it in one sitting.
Rarely do I think a book should be a duet or trilogy but I think this one should have been.
There were so many layers that weren’t completely addressed or explored.
Syrah needed more backstory.
The secret society needed more backstory.
Where is Tully’s mother? Nothing was explained there.
Clearly, they are still in existence. I have so many unanswered questions.
I didn’t feel vow of revenge on women was justified.
The writing was good but I was left wanting more.

Kaleb loves em and leaves em as his revenge against womanhood— his father was murdered by a woman. He’s a manwhore but cripples women emotionally. He meets Freya at a club and she is given ecstasy. He takes her home to keep her safe? And takes some too to join in the fun. They have smexy good times. She leaves. Man ho that he is , he goes to make sure practically virgin Freya doesn’t have any stds and that she’s on bc since he didn’t use a condom. He keeps coming back
For more but continues his ways. He’s having sex with Freya and others one after the other. Meanwhile we get diary excerpts from a woman who was a sec slave years ago. Kaleb is falling for Freya though… stuff happens that you can see coming since the beginning of the book. I didn’t like how the h let the H off the hook so easily when he was sleeping with her and several other women at the same time. No grovel for that at all.

I was a ruined wreck reading this absolutely brilliant book . My blood pressure tablets most definitely had their work cut out for them , & I was thankful that I had a box of tissues beside me .
Kaleb wanted revenge on all women , as far as he was concerned they were all conniving, & manipulative. He would gladly break their hearts & let them fall by the wayside in the name of his father.
Freya was in a loving family , but it was not the family she was born into. She always had the sadness of her past at the back of her mind .
When Kaleb & Freya meet they hate each other , but there is an undeniable pull between the two . Cruelty, lies, & utter sadness face the couple .
This is such an amazing book , I was, & still am, absolutely hooked

Wow just wow.

There are no words to describe how well and beautifully written this book is. It provided me with all sorts of emotions. So deep and powerful. My heart broke for Freya then for kalen, two damaged souls separately, dealing with life differently then brought together by chance. Emotional book to say the least. Loved it. Wow.

Hands down, one of the best reads of 2019 - five stars doesn't even begin to do it justice.

I've read Autumn Archer before and loved all her stories, so I was certain this one would be no exception. And I was right... and also so very wrong.

Because to even use the word "love" would be an understatement.
It wrecked me. This tale destroyed me, and I'd gladly let it happen all over again.
It's dark, twisted, intense, gut wrenching, sexy, provocative, lustful, beautiful... I could keep going.

But if I were to use a single word to encompass it all, "unputdownable" sounds the most fitting.

Unfortunately - and this just may very well be due to my current lack of distance from the subject at hand - I don't believe I can elaborate to much without delving into spoiler territory.
However, here's what I can let know: to Kaleb De Courcy, women are the enemy.
He has vowed to break every single heart that crosses his path and crush their shattered pieces with the soles of his shoes as he walks away, unperturbed; no chance of getting too close and having his game turned on him.
Until it does.

Freya Beaumont is the quiet, indecipherable beauty that turns his world on its axis. He learns that he needs to either let the game play out, tear her apart and walk away or - and this would probably be the most sensible choice - not even start the match. Either way, he knows he's doomed: little mouse knows how to play the cat.

This is so much more than what you might be used to when it comes to dark romances: it's full of twisted and unexpected turns, a new challenge at every corner, a woman trying to find her own way, a man set on revenge yet doubting his own decree, a bond stronger than rhyme or reason, a love born out of pain.

Like I said, I wish I could tell you more and number all the reasons why I think you should definitely give this book a try, but some revelations are better if witnessed in the first person and at the right moment in time - you know, those punches to the gut we so willing get accustomed to.

This story is so different from anything I've ever read, no matter the genre. Also, the distinctive aspects combined made it unique and unlike any other darker narrative I've ever came across: you'll see what I mean. Right there, on chapter 1, you'll see it, you'll know it. It will change everything.

Kaleb and Freya - their story and connection - will stay with me for a long while. They'll stay with you too. Just let them in. You'll love every single second of it, every single word.

Autumn Archer had a faithful reader before; now she officially has an active huntress: I'll be here, more than ready to get hands and sink my teeth in the next story.

Straddled a fine line

I am so torn about this book, because there were definitely moments when I really got into the story, but there were so many things that took me out of it that I eventually ended up skimming to the end. It’s a dark romance that starts out pretty dirty then slowly moves into the sentimental. Unfortunately, the fact that Kaleb was still sleeping with other women 50% of the way into the book was a major turnoff for me and ultimately enough to lose my connection to the romance.

The story follows Kaleb, a man whose father was murdered by a woman. He can’t remember the specifics, but he knows that he’ll never let himself get taken down by a woman like his father, and he makes it his mission to toy with and punish women who want something from him. When Kaleb meets Freya at a club, she seems pretty uptight and he’s not sure why he’s drawn to her. Freya gets dosed with Ecstasy and Kaleb keeps her company while she rides out her high, and they spend the night doing dirty deeds. Afterwards, Kaleb is left wondering if it was the drugs that made the experience so powerful, or just Freya - and he’s not sure if he really wants to find out. The two begin a reluctant dance as Kaleb is torn between his confusing feelings for Freya and his vow of revenge.

It took a little while for this book to grow on me, because it starts out so volatile. This is no slow burn romance; they sleep together very quickly and the first section of the book is all about the physical aspect of their relationship. It takes a while for the feelings to grow, and that’s when I started to settle into the story. But I really can’t tolerate my (anti)hero continuing to sleep with other women, especially so far into the book. It definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and soured the growing interest I had in the story. After that, I detached from the characters and my respect for Freya decreased as well. If you’re looking for a good dark romance, there are moments of greatness in the story, but for me it walked a fine line and ventured to the wrong side one too many times. I received a free copy via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Received this Book From Author For Honest Review.

I Do Not Do 5 Star Handouts.
This Book Deserves & Will Get a Brilliant 5/5 Stars from Me.
I’m A Completely Satisfied Reader, and This is ‘My’ Overall Opinion Rating as Soon as I Closed the Book.
Now I Need Brett’s Book Now! XD

I Will Be Purchasing This Book.

HEAT: 3.5-4ish/5, Honestly it fits the book really well, this Rating is not an insult. While it’s steamy it’s not a serious main focus, and for me that didn’t detract my attention in the least.
Romance: 3.5-4/5, this is classified as a slow-burn and the book is paced very well.
Drama: 5/5!!
Suspense: 5/5!! While I Was surprised at a few things that came to light as a reader, I also felt the suspense for the characters too.
Dark: 2.5-3ish/5, ‘For Me’ I would not classify this as VERY Dark.
Definitely Dark Lite in my Opinion. But some of the subject matter may be considered Darker to Other Readers :)

HEA(?): Absolutely!

Holy Cow this Book was Good. I Will Warn You Now to Make Sure You Have Your Kleenex Box Nearby.
I Will Give No Further Spoilers.
The moment I opened this Book i was drawn in and I couldn’t put it down. There’s so Much I NEED to say about this book, but I can’t because it would contain some Serious Spoilers! XD
Oh The Pain! Lol

Do I recommend this Book? Completely!
Will I Read More From This Author? Absolutely!, I Will Most Certainly Be Checking Out Other Books, but I Am Highly Anticipating Brett’s Book!

Let me start by saying this romance book is on the darker side, and had me really crying more than once. This is not an insta-love but it is truly a love story. Watching Kaleb and Freya’s story unfold is a page turner!
The twists and surprises are as impressive as the sexy, heat and depths of the characters. I loved the dark and dangerous Kaleb right off, he’s a jerk but in the best way. He is not what he seems, then again neither is his past. As the layers get peeled back it makes me fall even harder for him. I read this book more than once and each time it feels like something new is added.
Freya has a good life, but doesn’t take it for granted. She’s a good girl who gets in the path of distraction. She has to battle not only her body and mind but the guy who “saves” her. Yet unknowingly their Hart is what saves them both. They both have a strong bond with their families. I adore Brett and Syrah as much as Kaleb and Freya.

As much as I REALLY Love Autumn Archer’s other books this one really got me. Her writing since her debut novella has hooked me in and just keeps holding on, tight. I don’t know how she does it. Thank god she doesn’t keep us waiting long for her next story. Fingers crossed a book 2 is in the future, i can’t get enough of these characters.

GAHHHHH!!!

I bloody LOVED this book!
Ok, I may have wanted to shake Kaleb sometimes but you do understand why he feels the way he does about women when all he can remember is one woman wronging his family.
He is quite happy to get what he wants and then loves to break a woman apart afterwards that is until he meets Freya. She barrels into his life all guns blazing, and he decides she is his next woman he is going to seek revenge from.
He tries hard to stay away but finds himself drawn to her in ways he has never felt before.
Freya knows who Kaleb is, she knows his reputation for throwing women away once he has finished with them, yet she can’t seem to stay away from him no matter how hard she tries.

You get an insight in the the past with this book which hurt my heart to read as you know you can’t help her. But her story is told to clear up the truth.

You also have a major curve ball in this story and man oh man I wasn’t prepared for it in the slightest. I cried, I don’t care who knows it. But again it helps with the story so I can’t complain too much!

I am hoping we get more from the side characters soon!

Vow of Revenge is a story of love tied together with revenge and redemption. Kaleb might have been immune to the sound of breaking hearts but not me. This book tore me apart, had me ugly crying in the middle of the night as I tried to put the book down. Freya was a woman that I wanted to stand beside and show her that all was not as it seemed, that the surface did not reflect what lay deep within. Kaleb at times had me on the fence, I didn't know whether to love or hate him, to slap him or hug him, but this man by the end lit me up inside. This is a story that will have your heart and mind working overtime. Some might feel this a dark romance but to me without the dark there is no light. Take the journey with these two as love, loss, vengeance and finally truths are revealed. Your heart will ache, tears will fall but ultimately you will feel the triumph of pure love.

Maaaaan, Kaleb Kaleb Kaleb.

This book was a whirlwind of emotion. It was pages and pages of confusion, hatred, and warring emotions.

I think my favorite thing about this enemies-to-lovers romance is that the breaking point was so engrossing. The moment I got to see the switch in both Freya and Kaleb. Kaleb’s broken soul finally got answers and Freya shed her old self and became someone she could be proud of.

This story started all angsty and sexy and dirty and turned into a beautiful story about fate and ghosts of the past clearing up the future.

I am SO EXCITED that Autumn said we’d be getting Brett’s story because my. heart. BREAKS. for. him. The secondary characters in this story held their own and wormed their way into my heart just as strongly as our main couple.

This was SO GOOD!!!

5 star read
I've never had such a emotional response to a book. I started off hating Freya and kalab she was boring and i was bored with his antics at the beginning but thankfully that changed and soon began to enjoy the journey they found themselves travelling along. The story is one of heartbreak, revenge, and lies. Kalab journey was the biggest in the book by the end it felt like he had truly found the peace he didn't know he wanted.
My only critic is of Syrah Freya sister yes her end was a devastating blow and it happened it the cruelest way. but I found myself no really caring what happened to the spoilt rich girl. I know it wasn't Syrah story but I felt like it was a opportunity missed in her character.

A new author that I'm so glad I found. I'll tell you this, Kaleb is that man you know you shouldn't, but you can't help the dark desires he brings out. Freya should have looked out because she's about to meet a man who has a vow that no woman will be able to break down the untouched heart.

Freya may have been slipped a pill but she went a head and fell into love with a cold-hearted beast.

Unpredictable, dark secrets and even more shocking revelations wrapped up in a dark romance will have you blowing off plans to read all about the beauty that awoken the cold heart man-ster.

I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

Whew!! What a ride. Vow of Revenge is the first book that I have read by this author and holy mother of all that is holy will I be back for more. This book took me through so many emotions and the twist at the end still had me reeling.

Both Freya and Kaleb were strong and yet broken characters! I was honestly on the fence about Kaleb through most of the book but ending up falling for him in the end. Freya, though, she was a woman I was instantly rooting for!

If you like hot dark romances with a huge dose of angst, revenge, and betrayals mixed in, this is the book for you!

WTH did I just read? No One does SEX and SUSPENSE like Autumn Archer!! Oh Kaleb, how I love to hate you! Beautifully broken and sexy as sin makes Kaleb dangerous but alluring. Freya is beautiful inside and out. She knows heartache but loves hard. Together they burn bright but secrets and the past have come back to haunt them. This story is full of angst, heartbreak, lots of passion and SO MANY SECRETS! You do not want to miss this book!! I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. First let me say when I first met Kaleb I wasn't to happy with him. He was extremely cold hearted had no respect for woman. And he just kept mKing me madder and madder. Until I shocked myself that this happed I started like him and then I fell for him. So ya he has me wrapped around his finger now. Now as for Freya I love her sass her don't mess with me attitude she's strong willed and defiant she's awesome and I love her. Now I need to know more about Brett.

I have no words for this 5 amazing stars read! I absolutely loved Vow Of Revenge! This story will suck you into Freya & Kaleb' journey and will leave you wanting more! A must read! I so really hope Brett gets his story!
