I hate needless romantic drama caused by miscommunication, and this series is starting to grow a little thin with how it stretches conflicts between characters across multiple chapters. Conversation, people! Regardless, I do still love the characters and hope this series wraps up in a satisfying manner before the drama wears down to bare threads.
This volume is infuriating. Whereas Ohmi has made progress, Ellie has stayed the same. Even though they're dating, she still puts him on a pedestal and cares more about how others perceive him than his actual feelings. At this point, I'm bored of their relationship drama. If I'm to be honest, the series has been losing steam ever since they get together and that was early on! On the other hand, Reo and Sara's will they won't they is delicious. More of that, please!
I’d give this a 3.5, honestly, mostly for the character bits. The facial expressions on Ellie are constantly fun and the introduction of Ohmi-vision in one chapter is a nice touch.
There are so many flipping manga where miscommunication that could be easily dealt with causes problems, but I will say that the way that it escalates here and people believably try to talk to one another without actually listening rings truer than ‘oh no I can’t say anything because of blah blah blah’.
It does make for a bummer of a second half, combined with Sara’s ongoing woes with her feelings for Reo. It’s not terribly written, but you’re definitely not ending on a happy note. Still, the usual hijinx in the first half (the window sequence is especially sweet) make for a nice counterpoint.
What a roller coaster ride of emotions this volume was. The author was like this one is chill compared to the last. Umm 🤔 I think not. Ok first Reo-kun is super cool!!!! Also perfect boyfriend material and Sara-Chan is slow to the uptake on realizing how deep his loyalty and affection is for her truly. Hoping this Ayaka chick doesn’t convince him to finally stop being stuck on Sara. I don’t think so, but I’m sure I’ll be sweating 😥 bullets until this gets resolved. Onto Ellie and Ohmi-kun, what just happened?! How? What? Why? Nooooooo!!! Not my babies!!! I was not mentally prepared for any of that. They need to have a real heart to heart- STAT!! They were making lovey dovey promises one minute and in a flash it all goes downhill. My heart can’t take all this turmoil. It’s still really freakin funny!!! But my gawd it’s getting grown up in here now. They not little whittle babies no more. And I’m loving and hating all of these new developments, it’s a process y’all. One-click it tho!!
one thing I love about this series is how the author uses tropes in a smart way - I expect to see a certain number of tropes and timelines in a shojo manga series, but there’s always a slight diversion in this series that keeps me surprised.
for instance, in this volume we have a pretty expected miscommunication trope (it was bound to appear and the plot was at a perfect point for it to make sense - the main characters have been dating for a little while and have been spending less time together). it would’ve been very easy for the author to draw out the time where our couple fight/argue/break-up about this miscommunication, but she has them come back together poised to talk it through by the end of the chapter (also the end of the day).
one thing that feels a little played out at this point of the series is introducing new characters - there are already older characters whose arcs have been resolved and who pop up every now and then, and at this point introducing new characters doesn’t add all that much to the story.
Sara finally realises her feelings for Takagi aAAAHHHHH THIS IS A HAPPY TIME TO BE ALIVE
But on the other side, Ellie and Omi's relationship is being tested again, my heart can't handle this :( I'm normally on Ellie's side because I can somehow understand her insecurities but this time I'm wholeheartedly with Omi. Omi bravely said during the interview that he didn't want to lie about not having a girlfriend, but Ellie went out of her way to claim she's not his girlfriend, thinking that's how she'd protect him. That is so wrong on so many level, of course Omi would get hurt by that :(
I just hope the issue will be resolved in the next volume, because it's clear they both cared too much for each other, to the point they can be overbearing at some point.
Oof this volume hurt my heart a bit. Normally I like over-the-top drama, because I get bored when everything is too happy, but seeing Ohmi and Ellie fight like that... it made me feel all sad inside. Obviously they'll patch it up, but still T-T
The side story with Sara and Senpai (I always forget his name!) had some fun developments. I like that we get to understand a bit more about the way they think. That girl Ayaka though... I know she's a nice person overall, but she was being a bit of an ass and jumping into a relationship that she has very little knowledge of. The lying is what really tipped me over though, she knows that Senpai did not kiss her, she stole that from him while he was sleeping!
miscommunication continues to be one of my least favorite tropes. still, the argument here is pretty believable for a couple of teenagers (if anyone isn't going to talk to each other, it's going to be a couple of high schoolers). the break up is appropriately dramatic and the start of reconciliation at the end of the volume is actually pretty sweet!
sara's whole thing with reo actually makes me so frustrated!! honestly, she is totally mean to him, and ayaka is right to call her out.
ellie's silly 'show me your tongue' and 'call me a pervert' signs made me cackle!

4.5 Stars The miscommunication is strong in the end of this installment, they can not seem to get their proper feelings across. Eriko and Akira were so sad in the end of this one, it had such a great beginning to. They were so cute with Akira getting first in the contest and them making big plans if he wins the whole contest. Sara and Reo were so cute and they are really amping up what is going to happen with them. Ayaka is so cute but I am not sure if I would want her with Reo with Sara their. This was so fun and so worth the read, it was so enjoyable of a read.

There was wayyyyy too much to process in this volume LOL! I can't believe there is only one volume left....will all the plot lines be able to be tied up in 4 chapters? I'm still shocked at how fast these last 2 volumes have read despite all the plot movement, so maybe.
Here Omi-kun decides to enter this contest about the most beautiful guy in Japan he wants to try his best but also to make Ellie happy because he is worried that he will be left behind by her now that she is super busy with school obligations. We see them struggle a lot bc they are both so busy they can't see each other super often but every time they do it's still super adorable are always.
NOOOO... first Cheeky Brat vol 6, then Skip & Loafer vol 7, and now volume 10 of Lovesick Ellie. The cliffhangers are so terrible! You can't just keep leaving me hanging like that!
Anyway, I love Omie and Ellie and Sara and Reo. They are such fun characters to follow and I need volume 11 yesterday.
Admittedly, the contest plot line is not my favorite, and it's been too long since I last read chapters about Sara and Reo, so I'm not as invested in their romance as I could be (Sara's feelings feel a bit random so I feel like I'm either forgetting or missing something). Still, Ellie is so sweet and I love her and Ohmi together.
Dommage :(
As sad as I am to see Ellie and Omi-kun going through a difficult time, it was really interesting to see their perspectives on the argument. It was also nice to see some progress with Sara-chan and Takagi’s friendship/future romance.
Ugh, this volume hurt me. Sara finally understands her feelings towards Reno, who declares his feelings to her. Meanwhile, I am in COMPLETE denial that my precious children Ellie and Ohmi broke up. I mean!!!! 😢

Whoa whoa whoa. What a volume. So many things happening between Sara and Reo and Ellie and Omie. I wasn’t prepared for these developments though I should have seen it coming. So ready for the next volume.
I love these fictional kids with all my heart, but I really don't like the toxic elements seeping into their relationships. I'm vested enough to keep going for now, but it could be a deal breaker if it doesn't stop.
The most heartbreaking volume. I can see how much Ohmi really liked Ellie. My poor kids! And the new romance blooming I can take it either I love them!!
