Minato and Naoki reunite after 10(?) years and he instantly falls back into his love for Naoki after thinking he had long moved on. Minato is really happy and even though he gives Naoki shit for not fulfilling their promise to meet up on his coming of age day, he moves past that and focuses on rekindling their relationship. However, Akiyoshi who was way more of a background character in the last volume is more involved this volume and clearly has something to say about this relationship.
I got a little nervous about Akiyoshi. You see a little bit of Akiyoshi's feelings in the first book. It's not made super obvious, but his mannerisms and the way he speaks makes it obvious he has feelings for Minato. This second book focuses a lot more on that. I felt bad because Minato is clearly in love with Naoki and Naoki loves Minato and their relationship is pretty sweet, that you don't really want a third party to interfere, but seeing Akiyoshi's relationship with Minato made it hurt that he felt he was being abandoned and I didn't want that for him in the end. Although some of the things Akiyoshi did to try to keep Minato to himself was pretty shitty, I can understand why he did it. I wasn't sure what kind of ending I wanted for him and then he was being a little scary, which made me even more nervous but it all worked out in the end. I like the way it was resolved. It was probably the best way it could've gone.
I do wish we could've gotten just a bit more of Minato and Naoki's relationship and had a little bit more of a conversation about Naoki's guilt/trauma. There's something about that that just feels unresolved to me. I still really liked this series. It was emotional and pretty well written.
Volume two is set in 2019, 10 years later than volume one. The two main characters finally meet again, the seme has moved to Tokyo and now works in the same company as the uke.
The seme has grown up to be a bright young adult, he’s even taller than the uke, they are now standing on equal grounds.
Why did it take so long for them to reunite? Did the uke forget his promise for seme’s 成人式の日 coming of age ceremony? Have their feelings changed over the last 10 years? Can the seme help the uke get over his sad past?
The seme’s childhood best friend had crush on him since they were in school, he’s very protective of the seme so he’s been jealous of the uke over the years…
The background story is explained and it adds context to the questions raised in volume 1. The main characters are able to talk through their fears and insecurities and move forward. Soft on drama but still very appealing from beginning to end.
I suffered for a bit and got scared but the president kinda redeemed himself so it’s kinda good. I haven’t forgiven him yet. But the couple is all good. They’re growing together and it’s lovely.
