Review for the whole series.
Starts off with a bang, typical shounen manga- guy turning from zero to hero for girl with martial arts training, add in the great humor, fan service, character growth and story it’s a fun and entertaining read. But midway it becomes boring, same old stuff repeating itself with nothing new really happening. The ending is very mediocre and the last few arc’s terrible.
Considering it spanned for 12 years, it’s pretty long for such style mange. Will give it 5/5 for the first half of manga and 2/5 for the second half for a sum total of 3/5.

I found this manga book to be really interesting. Not only was the artwork amazing but the story and plot itself was something I haven't found in many of the manga books I have previously read which made me like this book even more. I already started reading the next books after I finished this one, that should explain how interesting this book is.

First time I've read a manga, the basis for a show I watched when I was younger. It says 'vol 1' but I'm using this as a placeholder for the whole series since a volume is pretty short. I won't say much about the manga form since that's not why I'm here besides the fact that it took some getting used to. All in all, Kenichi was a jolly romp through the world of super-powered martial arts, though at times a little repetitive and fan service-y for my liking. Despite that, it runs with a good zero-to-hero trope spread over a pretty lengthy time period (the manga itself was running for 12 years) that gives you a chance to become attached to the characters and root for them. It's a little hard to rate it since it seems a completely different type of media from most books we read in the west, so if my rating seems harsh that's why, but I enjoyed it all the same.

I love this manga. There's a bit more fan service that farther you get along, but it's still really good :)

It was kind of a weak introduction, but I generally like this type of manga so I'll read some more.

The fanservice... ye gods... the fanservice...

I've been on a kick of reading Manga lately, and I have to say that History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi has really been engrossing. I very literally haven't been able to put the series down for the past couple of weeks.
The story revolves around Shirahama Kenichi, a young teen who's spent the better part of his life being bullied and a chance encounter that leads him to a dojo where several masters of various martial arts reside. These masters take Kenichi on as their one-and-only disciple and start a hilariously over-the-top training regime to transform what they refer to as a student completely lacking in all talent for the martial arts into a martial artist worthy of the title "History's Strongest".

it was one of the better shonen manga that I've read in years the writing was phenomenal but the fan service was a little over the top in this otaku's opinion but the action sequences were more realistic then most even if it has manga's over the top strength and over exaggerated moves all in all its a satisfying read and i'm chomping at the bit for more

Quick cute read. It had a BA sweet awkward girl (which is always nice) and a pathetic nerdy guy who wants to learn karate. The manga wasn't anything really original and I doubt if I'll ever read more of this series, but it did have a lot of cute moments.

A fighting manga about a guy who is kind of a geek but has a good heart. He starts out not being able to even protect himself, but what will happen when he makes some new friends?

Pure shonen, but well-executed shonen. Also one of few series to have a rational power hierarchy and manage plots involving characters at multiple points on that hierarchy.
