Singled Out for Him

Rate this book
This edition has a new cover

Nancy Leigh DeMoss does not view singleness as a misfortune to be dreaded or resented, but rather, in the will of God, as a wonderful gift to be received with gratitude. She believes that the key to experiencing joy and fullness as a single is to discover and embrace the unique plan and calling of God.

Drawing upon her own experience, as well as the lives of other single men and women who have been sold out to God, Nancy shares ten practical commitments that are the pathway to true blessing for every Christian single.

With this book, I hit my goal of 200 books read for the year 2020.

I can always count on Nancy for solid, biblical advice that doesn't hold back. This book isn't large, but it's 10 small chapters, each a commitment for singles to make, is full of wisdom. It's also one of those books that while written primarily for women, I can see some men also apricating the message, as it focuses on general wisdom for singles.

I highly recommend it for both singles and those ministering to singles.

“He chose US to be the bride - not because we are loveable, not because we had anything at all to offer Him, but simply because He is a lover and He wanted to love us. Before He found us, we belonged to another - Satan. Yet Jesus loved us so much that He paid the price of His lifeblood on a hill called Calvary, to purchase us for Himself”

“You never realize that Christ is all you need until He’s all you have. And when He’s all you have, you will come to understand that He really is all you need!”

“The sun is not having the longings but the demanding that our longings be met here and now. Not until we are United with the Lord Jesus in heaven will all our longings be fulfilled and all the empty spaces of our hearts be filled”

“If God has chosen for me a life of singleness, then I will delight in His goodness and His ability to meet all my needs and will seek to cultivate a relationship with Him that will cause others to thirst for Him.”

Like many Christian books out there. Nancy Leigh DeMoss presents all the things that a single Christian woman should be thinking and tells her audience the steps they can take to get there. But, unfortunately, books such as these that tell and tell and use spiritual jargon and "uplifting" messages, I fear, only run skin-deep. They hardly give us clear direction or offer practical advice on how to overcome some of our greatest struggles with fear and doubt. Then again, each person's struggles and situation is different.

One of the best books on Christian singleness I have ever read!! I struggle from time to time with discontentment, doubt, and fear, and this book helped me to overcome my negative and sinful thoughts relating to singleness (especially lifelong singleness) and to give my desires and life to God for Him to do with as He pleases. A short and quick read for any single Christian who wants to obey God with his or her life.

A short and faith stirring read. A great reminder of the abundant grace and mercy given by God in all He calls His people to. I’d recommend this for my single friends! Onward and upward, ladies - Jesus is worthy!

While I don't agree with every single thing in this book, I really enjoyed the many thought-provoking points packed into this short book.

This is an EXCELLENT book for Christian singles! I’ve read a few of them over the years and with the Lord’s help am writing one of my own of sorts. But this is probably one of the best I’ve read. It’s very short and could easily be read in on sitting, but I imagine I will be referring back to it often as long as God chooses singleness for me.

Lots of great and deep thoughts here! Today’s world promotes such selfishness, and that is quite possibly most prevalent in the lives of singles. “You deserve it.” “You’re enough.” “Do what’s best for you.” NONE of these thoughts are biblical or God-honoring. This book really delves into the importance of ministering and serving God by serving others as a Christian single with the gift of more free time you have to invest in God’s service. So very needed today!

I only wish the author had used the King James Version for her Biblical references. This is so common with many Christian authors, unfortunately. So my recommendation is when you read this book, keep your KJV Bible handy so you know what God’s Word REALLY says about each topic. Other than that, it’s a very good read, and worth the time of any single Christian!

For only 50 pages, this book packs a lot of truths. It took me a while to swallow my pride to read it, because I hate identifying as being single, even tho I obviously am.

This book is broken into short manageable chapters, and each give a meaty topic to chew on with some immediate application points.

Good short read. Offers powerful insight of being single and actually viewing at as a gift with thankful attitude. I liked the point she made by not only fellowshipping with singles but other church members too. Serving married couples or widows could assist with focusing on what you can give rather then what you think you lost in singleness

More than anything, this little book is about what it means to live a Christian life. It's about being thankful for everything that we have, whether possessions, time, or whatever, and using these gifts for the good of others. I re-read this one from time to time because it is such a refreshing and positive reminder of how I should be focusing my life.

A mercifully short book, I'm glad I read it early. This book is an eye-opener. Nancy helped me see that a single life is a blessed life and finding a mate is not my business. This book offers a fresh perspective on how to navigate the single life wisely. Highly recommended.

Padrąsinanti, įkvepianti, stiprinanti savivertę ir savęs priėmimą, ypač, kai tave "nurašo" tam tikra aplinka.

Once again I am encouraged by a book from Nancy DeMoss: Singled Our for Him.  Nancy shares her book along with Scripture and her personal story of being married much later in life.  Her story and the examples provided allow for hope, but also challenging to the reader.  Upon reading this text, I found it to meet me right where I am in a particular season of life.  I want to commit myself to the Lord fully in preparation for whatever life plan He has for me and to be content in each season.
