No one knows when Supers truly began to emerge, but it soon became clear that it was impossible to let them wield their abilities unchecked. The U.S government quickly came up with a system that implemented Supers into positions of power and simultaneously set checks and balances to prevent any from misusing their abilities. Unfortunately, not all Supers like playing by the rules. It’s one such Super that decided to storm into a small family home and kill the parents of a little girl right in front of her. Surviving the encounter through a stroke of bravery and decisiveness, Carter is now an orphan in a world where people just like the one that took her parents from her roam about freely. Luckily, she is swiftly taken in by a man who is dedicated to stopping events like the one she just went through. He runs an organization built around the idea of stopping Supers who misuse their abilities when the authorities fail to step in in time. Carter throws herself into her training with a passion that can only come from losing everything else. Now a young adult and an established member of The People’s Hand, she is a fully trained assassin specialized in taking down Supers. She's grown comfortable with her role, but all of that is thrown out the window when she is sent on a mission unlike any other. She must infiltrate the election of the government position known as a Protector and win, but it’s a role that can only be held by a Super. Carter hasn't had to deal with Supers in a non-violent setting, but this isn't what scares her. What scares her is that she has built her life around stopping an image of Supers in her mind. What if she's wrong?
