Kate Stone has always lived for romance. From the time she was very small, waiting for her Prince Charming to come and take her away, she has looked for the healing, redeeming power of love.

She drinks far too much coffee and loves sparkly things. She's convinced she survived breast cancer because she was unwilling to let tiny little cells tell her when to die. The chemo may have helped, too.

She lives in New England with her long-suffering husband and their four children. She spends her days as a graduate student and her weekends writing.

A new author to me. This is the 2nd book in this series and I haven’t read the first yet. I didn’t mind the read. This is about Kristina Brennan and Jason Anderson who just joined Starke Private Security. Jason is her bodyguard as she looks for her brother Brandon. Brandon has gotten himself in with some very bad men. The story has suspense and action. Here’s what I didn’t like: this book is like 60 pages long. I didn’t realize until I started reading and was surprised I was done. I also feel frustrated at over inflated price of this book when it is only a couple of chapters. I don’t understand why some authors do this. I don’t feel there is enough time to properly develop a character - there’s little to no background and I feel it’s a waste for me. This book is simply too much for such a short read so I can not recommend. I feel books like this should have a notice or warning in the title so you know before you buy.

Sometimes we see an event and something just explodes in us into action

Jason is the second book in the Starke Private Security series and tells the story of Jason and Kristina. He has recently quit his job after deciding that he would not try to convince a fellow female employee not to file a sexual harassment complaint about a manager as he was being asked to do by one of the executives, since he was friendly with the woman. He ends up being given the business card for Starke Private Security by a bartender that he helped out. When there are no jobs out there that he is interested in he ends up in the Starke Private Security firm office interviewing with the owner and accepting a job. Just as he is about to be shown around a woman bursts into the offices and when their eyes meet it is instant attraction/love and he will do whatever she asks of him. Kristina is trying to hire someone who will find her missing older brother Brandon, who has a knack of being in the wrong place at the wrong time since he is friends with the wrong people.
As Starke Private Security is not a private detective agency they cannot try to find Brandon. But what Jason proposes is that she hire the firm to be her bodyguards while she tries to find Brandon. As he made the suggestion Jason is assigned this case and must ensure that Kristina is protected and kept safe, which he is more than willing to do even without getting paid.
Jason and Kristina's story has mystery, romance, drama, action, violence, intrigue and of course some sizzling chemistry between them. There are several other characters that are also in the story each with their own part to play as this fast-paced story travels to the final showdown.

I liked this engaging story and the interesting characters. What I did not like were the number of proofreading errors for a novella length book. What should have been at least a 4 Star rating instead is 3 Stars because of this issue. This is a shame as normally this author does not have this issue.

In safe hands

After book one in this series, I was very keen to read this, the second one. I really love that they don’t have to be read in order, but I did anyway!

This book is about Kristina and Jason. She’s having a hard time getting somebody who she deems reliable enough, to look for her missing brother. But when she met with Jason at the Starke private security company, she was a little bit more than intrigued – and not just his interest in, and determination to take on her case!

They have an instant attraction and connection that neither can seem to deny. He quickly develops an intrinsic WANT and NEED to protect her and to keep her safe. But can he remain objective and professional?

There are ups and downs, and twists and turns, which keep the reader interested and engaged the entire time…. all the way to the end. And then you STILL want MORE! Four and a half stars.

And now I can’t wait for what comes next AGAIN!

Jason is the next book in the Starke Private Security series. This is intense story of the search for someone you love when time is against you.

Kristina loves her brother and I knows she can't help but do what she can to take care if him. When he comes up missing she become desperate to and ends hiring Jason as a bodyguard.

Jason is stand up guy able to handle himself. He takes upon himself to help those who can help themselves. As Kristina's bodyguard, Jason help her follow the trail to her brother. Even when all hope seems lost Jason does not give up and stays with her end.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Jason and Kristina. Kristina's brother is missing and she goes to Starke protection agency in hopes of getting help finding him. Kristina was told no, until Jason suggested she needed a bodyguard while she searched for her brother, earning him the assignment. Jason and Kristina grew closer while they were searching and Jason was getting more and more attached to Kristina and he wanted to protect her. This was a fast paced read. I like how protective Jason was and how he tried to help Kristina, even when she didn't want him to. Well done.

Action and romance
It's a short story very romantic despite the context: Kristina wants to find and save her brother, and she gets help from a former Navy, Jason. He recognizes in her the woman he has always looked for and he will do everything to help and protect her. The story, and in particular the causes of the disappearance of Kristina's brother, are quite unexpected, but I must say that I did not really understand Jason's choices at the end of the story as to what to do, and I had the impression that the end was cut short.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough left you wanting more twists and turns with emotions that makes you want more with lust and hot and steamy like a rollercoaster ride, that was how Jason and Kristina met when no one else took notice on finding her brother and Starke Private Security took notice.

This book wasn't too bad, but I hate when the girl and the "bodyguard" start to hit it off right off the bat. She's looking for her brother who's in trouble again with someone you don't want to mess with. Jason quit his financial job when they asked him to do something he wasn't comfortable with. He went to work for a security agency and that's how he met Kristina and hearing about her brother Brandon. HEA.

Really good mystery/romance. Jason is hired to protect Kristina while she searches for her wayward brother. Unfortunately, these two must battle an unseen enemy as well as their sexual passion. Full of problems, riddles, and secrecy, you’ll wonder what outcome could possibly happen that leads to everyone’s happily ever after.

I found this an enjoyable little read, it had good chemistry, good connections, family issues, good guys, bad guys, a touch of danger, love and good friends. Personally I would have liked another chapter or an epilogue just so I could find out what happened next between Jason and Kristina and for Jason after he'd completed his first assignment.

Jason is a very quick read. Kate Stone has a great writing style. The characters were loveable and the plot was engaging. I wish the story was longer to further develop the relationship between Jason and Kristina. The book was over too soon. The fact that I wanted to read more is the sign of a good author and book.

This was a sweet story. I really liked both Kristina and Jason. As a self-admitted overprotective older sister (who has been accused to be such by numerous people), I can really relate to Kristina and how she feels about Brandon. Her feelings and thoughts about it were all so believable and realistic. Jason was such a good guy, and Kristina and him are really luck to have found each other.

It was a good thing for Kristina that Jason was fired from his job so he was looking into a job as a security guard. He was to be her bodyguard to cover and help her to find her brother. Her brother was hiding from a bad guy with the guy’s girlfriend. So Steven was trying to kill her so what she wouldn’t tell anyone what he did. But things worked out for everyone!
