Not only is Jaxon a born Alpha, he is also one by choice. Or at least, he's about to be. His adoptive father wants to pass on leadership of the Timberwood Cove Pack to him but Jaxon has reservations. Why? Because this shifter wants his mate.
When Jaxon scents his fated mate at a local diner, he knows it’s only a matter of time before he claims the man. But their courtship is complicated. Even though Bryce is an omega he has no idea shifters exist. What's more, he blames a wolf for the death of his sister and his current painful circumstances.
After causing an accident that left his sister dead and himself with chronic injuries, Bryce can’t screw up raising his nephew. Money is tight and Bryce’s new disabilities make caring for a young boy even more difficult. When he meets Jaxon, the man is too good to be true; a caring alpha who coaches his nephew’s baseball team and looks at Bryce with heat and tenderness.
Will their rapidly growing family strikeout? Or will they be a home run?
I liked this unique take on alpha/omega/shifter/human dynamics. I don't think I've ever read anything that put humans in the alpha/omega categories while living in a world with shifters as well. The humans don't know about the shifters, which is standard shifter story protocol, but the fact that a human could be an omega in addition to sharing a world with shifters was pretty cool.
The story was character driven, so mostly about Bryce and Jaxon finding their footing with the whole fated mate thing, and, "oh hey, so funny story, I'm a wolf shifter" conversations. There was elevated angst that went along with the revelation given Bryce's history and it was balanced well and not overly dramatic and long winded.
Jaxon was a great character and it was refreshing to read about an alpha who didn't necessarily have all the answers and ridiculous levels of confidence. But Jaxon was a truly good guy who found his strength once he found his mate, and that whole angle was very charming to read.
I had one stupid little niggle that is all me, but good goddamn, it was a tough one to read through. Poor Bryce has a bout of nausea and hurls a few times on the way home from town. Jaxon is his awesome supportive self and gets Bryce home and settled. Moving in for a "long, slow, sensual kiss."
Noooooooooo.
OK, I get that shifters are all about the scent of their mate and all that, but I don't care if your mate smells like cookies, cedar, rainwater, unicorn manes or bacon, you take care of that puke breath before you move in for the smooches. Throw a mint in that dumpster at the bare minimum. I'm sorry Bryce, you poor dude, you were miserable and your man took care of you, and Jaxon, you are a better man than I, but seriously, no making out after hurling. Ever.
Rant over.
I liked the story though and will be checking out the next in the series.
Nice human shifter book. Two insecure men find confidence through each other. This is a light story about finding your mate when you mate could possibly hate you. The writing was good, smexy was hawt and side character/ best friend was nice
2020 = 2 stars / It's okay. 2021 = reread to write a review
A Generic Wolfshifter Mpreg Romance
A wolf shifter finds his mate, who turns out to be a human omega. They quickly fall in love, and after some minor drama, they get their perfect HEA.
Overall, the story felt like it took place in a small bubble with only a few characters. There are insufficient details, descriptions or development. It's a sweet and shallow romance with no realism.
Nothing is explained about the world or how things work. It's mentioned that male human omegas exist, but no idea about female omegas. The omegas produce a slippery fluid, go into heats, and can get pregnant. The humans are unaware that shifters exist. Even though they live and work very close to them, and shifters have enhanced strength and senses.
The MCs are a strong, protective alpha and a weaker omega trying to be strong. They felt like stock characters rather than genuine, flawed people. The bit of drama occurs when the alpha tries to keep his shifter side a secret, but it's quickly resolved. After that, it's feel-good fluff. By 60%, I was ready to finish, so I skimmed to the end. The sex scenes are bland and basic, so I skimmed those too.
I'm starting to think that within Liam Kingsley's I will find both books I love and books I wouldn't mind not having read... I'm not saying this was horrible. Not at all. Just not memorable.
I don't usually read reviews before actually reading the book, but I read a couple of them this time and while I was reading it I couldn't believe some readers not considering this instalovish. I would love to know what do they consider to be an instalove if this doesn't fit in that group XD
I don't mind instalove (while I prefere slowburn) if then the romance is well paced... But here EVERYTHING is so fast. Fast in a "we met 3 days ago and are already saying I live you and talking about loving together" kind of way.
It was too rushed for me to enjoy, and there was nothing really important going on. The only thing happening in this book is both MCs getting to know each other, Jaxon wondering how to unveil the shapeshifters part to Bryce and Bryce fighting to adopt his nephew. And everything is pretty much tasteless. Just barely enough interesting to keep you reading.
As this is the first book in a series, I don't discard the option or reading some more books to check out if it's just this book or the whole series. But this time my expectations will be minimum.
🎧narrated by Zachary Zaba A good start to the book with Mr Zaba vocals for each characters into the story. The narrator does a fantastic job with this book. 4 Stars for the narrator but....
Jaxon, 30 years, was the alpha's son and next in line to take over. He was the coach of the baseball team for their community. Bryce had lost his sister, now he was looking after his nephew. After being injured in the accident that killed his sister he was broke which made it difficult to win custody. An insta-connection, fates mates, secrets, knotting, pregnancy, omega, fluffy romance with minimal dramas.
This was a common themed story for an a reluctant-to-be alpha finding his mate, and becoming a family in most sineroes of books. Unfortunity this was an ultra-sweet, when I wanted something a bit more dramatic into the story. It takes over 2 months for Jaxon to tell Bryce about his being a 🐺shifter. I didn’t like their reactions as not being believable as scenes played out. Everytime Jaxon went to his father for advise, I got enoyued, serously he was 30 years and about to become an Alpha, even then he didnt take his father's advise regarding telling Bryce about them. I’d called it quits at the 85% with the gender reveal party, it didn't fit into the story.
Too fluffy for me, disappointed, I really wanted at least some drama.
I liked the storyline but what I didn't like was Bryce constantly second guessing Jaxon and I didn't like how long Jaxon waited to tell Bryce his secret and expected it to be fine. Like Jaxon would say 'I really like you' to Bryce and then Bryce would in his head somehow think that Jaxon was not being sincere. The insecurity was just way overdone. After second guessing one or two times, if you don't get it, you start to become annoying. Jaxon kept thinking he had to make Bryce love him before he told him he was a shifter. His dad literally said you're making a mistake and the longer you wait the more problems it will cause. So Jaxon of course waits because the story needed more drama! I would have definitely appreciated less drama and would have given a higher rating if some things were changed up. I do appreciate the world the author is building and I'm curious about the next book in the series but I'm unsure if I will read it.
Bryce and Liam are on their own after losing Liams Mom, Bryce is so used to doing everything on his own that he’s not sure how to feel or what to do when Jaxon comes into the picture and offers his help! For Jaxon it was love at first sight but he wanted Bryce to fall in love with him the old fashioned way and he did! The story has them falling in love super fast but sometimes that’s how it happens (even in the real world)! Bryce goes into heat before Him and Jaxon can confess their love for each other and they make love for the first time, and one time is all it takes and now they a little baby on the way! There is a couple obstacle that could ruin everything but then Jaxon comes to Bryce’s side and helps him when he needs it most and they get their happy ending with their beautiful little family! I really enjoyed reading this book, had me all up in my feelings! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was cute, and quite a bit sappy. Bryce has just had his life upended by the death of his twin sister in an accident that also left Bryce disabled (unspecified injuries, but for nearly half the book he uses a cane and has severe pain in his hips and legs). On top of that, Bryce’s sister’s death left her son Liam an orphan, who Bryce is now struggling to adopt. Out of work and on disability, struggling to make ends meet, things aren’t looking good for Bryce. Then he meets Jaxon, a wolf shifter. Jaxon is next in line to become lead alpha of his wolf shifter pack, though he’s not sure if he’s ready. All that is pushed to the side a bit when he meets Bryce and discovers that they’re fated mates. Now Jaxon has to convince this human, who has no idea that shifters even exist, that they’re meant to be together. In terms of the romance, I would call this insta-love if it weren’t for the fated mates thing. Jaxon and Bryce are cute, though, and their courtship is pretty sweet. Jaxon is also good with Liam, stepping in as a second parent and providing a lot of support to both Liam and Bryce. One thing I did have an issue with was how long Jaxon waited to tell Bryce that he was a shifter. It was getting pretty ridiculous, and that is a very significant secret to hide from someone you’re in a relationship with. Especially someone you’re regularly having sex with and have gotten pregnant (Bryce is an omega). And then of course Bryce doesn’t handle it well when Jaxon finally tells him. Because of course. That’s all cleared up fairly quickly, though, and mixed in with the adoption drama, and then everything after that is pretty much sappy fluff (and more sex). This was a nice enough story, with decent characters and plenty of emotion. I liked the family unit that Bryce and Jaxon built together, and how easily Bryce and Liam were accepted into the pack. There were a few spots in the book that would have benefitted from more editing, but overall I enjoyed the book.
Jaxon and Bryce are fated mates and as usual in this series one of them has a delightful child to care for. Here it is Bryce, raising his nephew after a car crash killed his sister and caused him to leave his construction job and go on disability. Jaxon coaches the nephew's little league team and everything follows from there. I was afraid this one would have too much baseball in it, as I am not a huge fan of sports romances, but that was not a problem. The mix was just right. This series is not one with slow burns, deep angst or dark secrets. It contains sweet, decent, caring main characters who have to overcome some problems to get their happy ever after but that is never in doubt. I read and re-read them when I need to recharge in a happy place.
A sugary sweet mpreg shifter book with a guaranteed happy ending and just a dab of angst.
Meeting his mate means everything to Jaxon. He’s been longing for this moment but just because fate has brought them together doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. Especially when your mate is human and doesn’t feel the same pull as you. But, Jaxson is willing to do whatever it takes to help Bryce see they belong together.
It took me a bit to get through this book but as far as shifter books go this one was pretty cute. I would’ve preferred just a bit more angst but at the same time this is a great comfort read!

This was a first for me. I have read MPreg with human Alpha and Omegas and no shifting into animals and I have read MPreg with shifters but this is my first combo. Humans know about Alpha and Omegas and male pregnancy but have no idea shifters exists. It was surprising how Bryce couldn't believe people could shift into animals but totally got male pregnancy. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more from this series.
So I liked the story line but it was a little hard to follow, as the Human/Omega had no knowledge of shifters and I am going to assume that it is something common for a man to get pregnant. The Omega knows about having a heat but is not a shifter. I am not sure if I missed a prequal to this that explains this a little better but if I did can someone point me in that direction. All in all I had to give it 3 stars because it was a little hard to follow.
This is a good story and very easy to read etc. The main thing that I couldn't get on with and confused me is that it has 'omega(s)' that are not shifters but written as a breed of humans with no knowledge of the shifter community. In actual fact it seems during the book the writer is trying to rewrite what a omega is. Given as omega is always something connected to wolves it makes the story feel slightly off.
Sweet with likeable characters but not much depth. There’s a little tension with the adoption and the shifter reveal but it’s not much. I wish There was more of an explanation of the world: how do the shifters make their money to be so rich? What did Bryce do for a job before the accident?
Jason coached Little League. Bryce was in a terrible car wreck that killed his twin sister and left him in constant pain and the guardian of his nephew and very poor. It was awonderful romance to follow with lots of twist and turns. Also Timberwood Cove belongs to a huge wolf pack. Jason is the pack leader's son.
2,7 Stars. Dnf'd at page 25. Wasn't that bad also not that good. Felt like a checklist that had to be finished. - He becomes the next alpha. check - he first wants to find his mate and finds him soon after thinking about it. check ...
I could still recommend it for someone who likes an easy fated mate read - the writing style just wasn't for me; it felt too flat
For a shape-shifting book, it was completely absorbing. Jaxon is a shifter (wolf-human) but when he meets Bryce he knows this will be his mate for life. Bryce takes a while to get used to this, but his son Liam wants Jaxon to make him into a shifter too, which Jaxon does. He changes Bryce too once Bryce has had their daughter, Lori. Don't resist this, folks, it's VERY well-written.
Alpha was metaphorically and physically carrying the omega
Not much more to say here. I have no idea what Bryce was supposed to bring to the table. And towards the end, it really seemed like a cwd situation, which made me sad because I have really enjoyed the author's books in the past.
Really low-angst, sweet story. An emotionally wounded man meets his mate but has no concept of shifters. His Alpha overcomes obstacles to win his love. Wonderful, relatable and enjoyable characters. Can't wait to continue the series.
I truly enjoyed the content inside this book. I gave it a two star because it made me uncomfortable that werewolf DNA could cure a disability. That’s basically it. But otherwise, it was very fluffy and cute.
Meh, while this was good for the most part, I still felt a little confused by the world and wish it had been explained more. Plus there was definitely some instalove going on and it wasn't done well enough for me to be able to let it go.
Jason and Bruce were sweet together and little Liam was just precious. Sweet read, with lots of passionate moments and the interactions between the adults and the children were sweet too. A great start to this series. I look forward to reading more of the series.
What a great first book in the series! I am totally enjoying this whole male pregnancy “trope”! It puts a whole dimension on a shifter story as well as a mm story.
I enjoyed how our men come together and love how much love and attention our alpha gives to his omega!
This is the first book in this new Timberwook Cove series. I enjoyed the characters and their chemistry. The characters work well together. Looking forward to see where this series will go.
