A five-week Bible study guide that uses scenes, themes and ideas from the TV adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's Good Omens, starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen, to explore Christian themes of sacrifice, birth and rebirth, Good and Evil, justice, love and salvation. With suggested clips from the show to watch, biblical commentaries, questions for reflection, prayers and activities, the book is intended for individual use but is adaptable for use in small group study.
I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did, but it was one of the most delightful, profound reads of my year so far. I'd seen the TV show but after I started reading I went back and re-watched it as I read. Booer and Hinds walk you through the themes and plot of the show while weaving in themes and plot from the Bible as joyfully as only true fans of both can. Their insights, exercises, and creative approach to the topics were such a fun and interesting change from the usual Bible studies. I appreciated how seriously they took painful issues, and how they both wrote with honesty and vulnerability about their own experiences, and made space for those whose experiences are different from theirs. I'm recommending this to every Christian fan of Good Omens that I know, and while I won't attempt to convert anyone to Christianity, I will be evangelizing for both the TV show and this book.
What a wonderful book ! As an atheist who was raised in a french catholic household, i really appreciated this reading. It was so so interesting and i loved the way everything was brought up ! Thank you so much for using she/her pronouns on Crowley while talking about her at the crucifixion, its so important and made me so happy !
