I started out at full speed, reading through the excellent introduction to this collection of letters at record speed. I almost came to a total halt as I moved on to reading the letters Max Beerbohm and William Rothenstein wrote to one another as they aged from college students to elder men. The letters reveal their relationship and as they moved through their lives one can watch this relationship change as each married and moved away from Britain. Beerbohm ended up in Italy with his wife; Rothenstein to France and back to Britain, and then on to other countries.

I had to force myself to finish reading through the letters. I'd recommend this collection to anyone who has a strong interest in Max Beerbohm and William Rothenstein, or perhaps is writing a biography of either man. Not one of my favorites about Beerbohm, in whom I'm very interested.
