Royal Watch #2

Royal Command

Rate this book
Everyone thought I was living the fairytale—marrying a prince and living happily ever after.

That only happens in movies.

I was actually living a nightmare. A gilded cage crushing my soul.

After a terrorist attack almost took my life and my bodyguard, Lennox, trapping us together, we were forced to face things we tried to deny. Feelings we could no longer ignore.

Leave it to me to do the stupidest thing possible—fall for my bodyguard. But there was no fighting our hunger. Our overwhelming connection.

It made me realize how much my life had been for others: my family, the royals…Theo. But once you are part of the royal family, you cannot just walk away. Especially when you find yourself engaged and being groomed to be the future queen.

With a King threatening me, Lord William blackmailing me, my uncle gambling away what’s left of our fortune, Theo set on our future no matter what, and vicious social media sniffing around wanting me to fail, I have to play the game. But secrets always seem to find a way of getting out, and it’s not just betrayal from those I love the most that shatter my life. It’s mine.

And the world wants to break what’s left of me.

If I saved my family, it would destroy me. If I didn't do anything, it would ruin them.... By falling in love, I destroyed everything in my path, burning it in my wake.

5+ Royally Trapped stars!!

After the cliffhanger we experience in book one, I could not stop myself from immediately picking up book two in order to see how the rest of Spencer, Lennox, and Theo's story would progress, and holy hell SMB did not disappoint. We pick up right where ROYAL WATCH left off, with Spencer and Lennox trapped in a hotel closet after a terrorist attack, leaving them physically injured and emotionally raw. Forced into close proximity with each other until they are able to escape, both Lennox and Spencer must finally face and accept that they feel more for each other than they should. But their feelings for each other won't change anything about their current situation as Spencer is being groomed to be the future Queen by the Royal House, while Lennox's past is more complicated than he lets on.
"I'm your bodyguard." He put his hands on my hips, turning me into his frame, his gaze moving over me. His grip moved to my face, cupping my cheeks. "Where you go, I follow."

THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING. It read almost like a soap opera (in the best way possible) with plenty of drama, steamy moments , angst, drama, danger, drama, and forgiveness. And even more drama. And I DEVOURED. EVERY. WORD. There were so many surprises and twists that I did not see coming, and SMB delivered them with ease and a flawlessness that made for a seamless plot. There were so many great quotes and moments between Spencer and Lennox, and I'm glad it didn't take the entire novel for them to get together. Theo acted like a dick in this novel, but I'm hopeful that we'll get his story to help redeem him a bit. I would KILL for an Eloise/Dalton novel as well!! Poor Dalton deserves it. Overall, this was a fantastic duology, and SMB has officially risen to one of my favorite authors!

My Lennox Easton, always watching Spencer with an intensity some might consider inappropriate....

And can we just take a second to appreciate the gorgeousness of these two covers next to each other?! Brilliantly done SMB!!

Unfortunately I wasn't as good as I expected it to be. Don't get me wrong, it was good but not that good. One of the plot twists really blew my mind but I didn't like the ending (the last 20% maybe) much, it felt unrealistic to me.

Still, I loved Spencer and Lennox together and I'd love to read Eloise's story, she was a great side character.

Maybe I had high expectations after the first book but I won't deny that I enjoyed it for the most part and that it got me hooked (I finished it in a day). 4 ⭐

Ok so in the last book... yes this is a duet. So if you didn’t read the first book stop reading this and go get the first one.
Ok so those people are gone... on to the nitty gritty. Lol

So in the last book Stacey so graciously left us in a horrible cliffhanger. Yes she did. Not nice I know.

This book picks up right when the last one left us. After a bombing that left us not knowing if Spencer and Lennox were alive or not.

Well she is or the second book would be here right? Lol. Yes well. Things get all hot and heavy in the storage room where they are stuck in and I was like YES! Finally! Some fun action!! Then they get caught by Dalton. Party pooper.

Throughout the book I just wanted to yell at her for not leaving Theo and staying with the RAF... Royal Arse Family. Such buggers.

There is some cheating in the book... ok who am I kidding. A lot of cheating but it was all in the name of a greater love and a better life. So don’t get all “there’s fecking cheating in this book let’s give it a 2 star because of it”. It was necessary for Spencer to finally find out that she really wasn’t meant to be part of the RAF. She was meant for a greater good and a better life with someone that could love her for her.

Let’s not forget Lennox in this book. He fell in love with Spencer and he couldn’t help it. The things this man has been through, and you’ll find out in the book when you read it is heartbreaking. You wonder how he’s even able to love.

I totally loved the second book. Yes even with the cheating. There was some fecking hot cheating involved in this book. Yummy just the was Stacy always loves to deliver her sexy scenes. Hot and heavy!

Hope fully there will be more to the RAF in the future. The other characters would make great books too like maybe Eloise and Dalton! Feck Theo. He sucks. Lol

The final book of the Royal Watch duology.
I adore Theo but the chemistry between Spencer and Lennox is unmistakable!
This book kept me guessing things right until the end and I loved every moment of it. A fantastic series from Stacey. It was full of sweetness but there was also drama and scandal that will keep you hooked to your kindle. I loved the ending. They really deserved it.
Throughout the story, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. My emotions were all over the place.

Lennox and Spencer finally got their HEA but my goodness it was a bumpy road. They both tried not to fall for each other but couldn’t help it anymore; their chemistry was that strong. Theo was deeply hurt but he wasn’t what Spencer needed; he needed to stand up to his family. Spencer showed growth and stood her ground for lots of things. She knew what it was like when people found out about her and Lennox and she was willing to do anything for her happiness. Lennox was not about hiding Spencer any longer. She was the woman he love and consequences be damned. We do get to see more of his background and the things he endured. He was done making sacrifices for others and focused on his happiness which was Spencer. It was a bumpy, messy road but they made it.

Spencer and Lennox relationship really went from a small Inferno I to a big explosion.
They were very Adorable and in this book we really went through there struggles both from the past and present.

after a disastrous break up with Prince Theo things only got worse from the media and the people so when they finally got there happy ever after it was well deserved after all that.

I really hope get more books from the other people but definitely want a book about Theo he acted out in this book. Becoming mean but from my prospective he didn’t love her the way he though he did. His pride or honour might have been bruised. One example is that he didn’t defend her to his family very well just left her with them to be dragged down with insecurities and Another example was the explosion if he really loved her so much then he wouldn’t have cared about protocol.
If he gets a book I hope he will finally realise that.

Overall this book was much better then the fist one because the wasn’t so much back and forth between Theo and Spencer or Lennox and Spencer she knew what she wanted.

I am still not a fan of the cheating aspect in this books but the book was okay.

This author is back with the emotional, tantalizing conclusion to the Royal Watch duet. Royal Command picks up right where the previous book left off and I was immediately pulled into this novel right from the first page. This book has a lot going on in it and the author does a stellar job with character development and having the story flow seamlessly throughout the pages. Unlike Royal Watch, this book is a touch heavier on the angst and drama and there several sizzling scenes that are sure to melt your kindle.

This duet brings to mind the age old questions of “just how much are you willing to risk or sacrifice for love?” and “do fairytales truly exist?” .

Secrets, betrayals, family drama, royal intrigue, and manipulations are all coming to a head in this royal romance. Spencer remains in the unforgiving spotlight and she fears losing herself as she struggles with meeting the expectations of one living with royals. While I was frustrated with some of her unwise and at times reckless decisions, I understood where she was coming from and consider her to be a strong heroine. I feel that the author was excellent at portraying just how conflicted Spencer was, thus making her character seem more real and relatable.

As for the two men in her life, I really enjoyed how Lennox took on a more prominent roll in the book as well as seeing more of Theo. I was pleased that there was more character development with Lennox, especially as the author revealed more about his past as well as his underlying feelings towards Spencer. It is a bittersweet thing when it comes to these types of books as someone will always get hurt.

Royal Command is the conclusion to this author’s Royal Watch duet. It cannot be read as a standalone and there is no cliffhanger. As with this author’s previous books, I am impressed with her writing style and ability to weave together a story that captures my full attention. This book has so much going that I worried things would be too jumbled up, but she pulled it all together nicely. This book was relatively angsty and while that isn’t always something usually look for in my reading, I found that it worked well for this book. I read an early complimentary version of this book.

It's been a while since I've read a book with a love triangle so well-developed and unpredictable ending. I honestly didn't know what/who Spencer will choose and that drove me insane throughout the book. Can someone actually escape the pressure of royal life, especially when the family's future is at stake?

Spencer's predicament was a constant state of anxiety for me when reading the book. I really feel for her, for the person she tried to become just to please the prince she fell in love with, only to discover that her sacrifice was one-sided and quite frankly, worthless.

I really enjoyed this gripping love story and the constant tension of not knowing what will happen next. Power plays, conspiracies, secrets, and a whirlwind of emotions, this book has it all! The perfect conclusion to this royal duet.

Oh my lord. I have just finished this and I am sooooo delighted with this book. Royal Watch was really good but - Royal Command is just a fabulous read.

I was at the top of the rollercoaster from the very first paragraph and it was just emotional turmoil from start to finish. Love, angst, cheekiness, wit, banter, it was just pure emotion throughout.

The author, as always, takes my feelings, taunts me with what I want and then knocks it out of the park. I LOVE this book. You must must must read it. I want to give it more than five stars but alas I cannot. READ THIS BOOK!

Soooo hot!

This book is soooo steamy, phew! This is a very emotional book, like a pendulum it swings back and forth between extreme love, joy and comfort, and hate, sorrow and distress. Absolutely adored the ending, it was perfect for Spencer and Lennox. Thoroughly enjoyed Royal Command and it's predecessor and highly recommend them.

I liked this book better than book 1.

Spencer was much more enjoyable in this one - she definitely won me over in the end. I found her so annoying in book 1 but she redeemed herself in this one.

This is a love triangle duet, however in my opinion this book from the start shows immediately who she will end up with (and I honestly think it's obvious in book 1 too). I'm so happy who she ends up with in the end - I love that man forever. What an absolute hunni. He is a top book boyfriend for me.

I didn't like reading and hearing about his sex life with ow though; spew. Poor Spencer had to be around a lot of that.

Now for some things I want to discuss which are spoilers...

All in all this was an enjoyable duet from one of my favourite authors and worth a read if you like sexy alpha males, some good twists and an insight into royal families and their way of life.

How could I not fall in love with her books? Whether PNR or CR, her books are simply amazing.

I immediately fell in love with who Spencer is and her fire, her circumstances, and what drove her. Strong female characters are something I admire. Now, throw a Theo and then a Lennox l, well, that is simply perfection.

This book shows the darker side to the royals, but most importantly, it shows how your dreams are more important to follow, how your true self shines through and how beating obstacles shapes you and makes you better.

This whole story, Spencer's character, resonated with me in many ways. Like with book 1, this one will have to be read multiple times.

Book hangovers are real!

I love/need Stacey's books, primarily because while not all situations are entirely relatable, the characters and their actions are. This duet takes you on a short journey that feels long and to be honest, I did not anticipate how this book ending would be finalized. Yes, it has a HEA, but it's how it gets to it that really makes these books special.

Theo was set up at the beginning with a lack of emotional awareness when it comes to Spencer. Lennox was not your typical lead male, however, Stacey's gift for writing makes you root for him even when he's being a less than stellar person. Spencer grew on me, but overall, she was a mostly fleshed out character. I'm trying to be as vague as possible here, but at the end, I get why Stacey wrote the characters the way she did. In all honesty, she set herself up nicely for a duet for Theo (not that I'm hinting at any possible new books...sooo) Lennox and Spencer are flawed but end up redeeming themselves in some way without you pitying them.

The ending for this book is reminiscent of another one I read a long time ago by Jennifer Donnelly (apologies for mentioning another author in this review) called Winter Rose and the same feeling I had at the ending of her book was invoked by this one. That book was incredible and to feel the same about this one as I do about Winter Rose makes me feel so satisfied and proud to read Stacey's work. Read JD's work and you'll understand what I mean.

I wouldn't call this book a deep, soul searching book, but I don't think it needs to be to fulfill that part of you that yearns for happiness when it seems impossible.

In order to read this book, you need to read Royal Watch first as this is a duet, a magnificent one by the way. Both books are definitely a top read of 2020, and you won’t regret a bit reading it.

We dive right back where we were left of in the last book, the aftermath of the terrorist attack. As Spencer and Lennox had to face their injuries, they also had to admit their feelings for each other. And after that everything is one explosion after the other, no pun intended. Everyone true colors was exposed.

I need to say, I’m 100% #TeamSpencer! She is a brilliant young women, smart, strong as hell, fierce, with a heart of gold that would everything for the ones she loves. I had my heart in my hand so many times, almost had a panic attack at other, I felt so many emotions with her journey. She had to face family secrets, blackmailing from Lord William, pressure of the public and most of all from the Royal house. I cheer out loud when she decided to be free, choosing herself, even if the country would not forgive her. I love her.

Lennox is also amazing! He also had some demons to fight and some secrets to expose, but when he decided what he wanted? There was no step back, he just want to move forward and claim his love. And let me tell you, Lennox is hot and I think my ovaries exploded with every scene of him and Spencer together! Dear lord! I adore how protective of her he was, even outside of his job.

I was absolutely devastated with Spencer’s punishment of being in and out of love with a prince, Theo, as Eloise said. The blame is all in the Royals, but also, the humanity is lost, people are so lost in the digital world that they think they can do whatever they want.

I could easily read a book with Landen’s story, he is just a sweetheart and the best friend! I could also read about Eloise story, mostly because of Dalton! And I really don’t care about Theo anymore, he is just so weak.

The ending was a huge surprise, it wasn’t what I was expecting at all, but somehow it worked brilliantly. Well, after the author almost gave me a heart attack with the first paragraphs!! Seriously! I can’t wait to reread this duet, it was perfect.

While this wasn’t one of my favourites, this was an amazingly written story. It would be a true challenge being a Prince’s girlfriend having not grown up that way. Spencer just wasn’t the girl for it. However Theo certainly put his role as Prince before her, which may be the case in real life. He abandoned her a lot of the time, I was most shocked that he had a meeting 10 minutes after Spencer getting home from the hospital and terror attack. Then made her to go a Gala. I did like his character but he certainly changed and became more angry / bitter.
Spencer and Lennox definately should have been more discreet and hidden their relationship better. But I could feel the fire between them. Lennox has been through a lot in his lifetime and I felt so bad for him and everything he had to carry. I think everything worked out perfectly for them in the end and they had the life they wanted even though they went through a lot to get there!!
I’ll never understand social media trolls and people who have such strong opinions on what royals / celebrities do. There is no need for violence and hatefulness.

What a ride!

The way Royal Watch ended was intense, but it definitely set the mood as to what was going to come next for Spence, Lennox and Theo on an emotional level as they all had to face some pretty intense truths about what they truly wanted for their futures.

Spencer, Lennox and Theo. I loved Spencer in Royal Watch, even when she drove me BSC, and watching as she grew in this book only had me loving her more. While some of her choices weren’t necessarily the right ones at times, they were hers and I really enjoyed watching as she finally started to make decisions that would make her happy, even if the cost was a high one. Lennox, the man totally rocked my world. While my heart broke for all he’d already gone through, but he lived through it and became so much more. Theo. As much as I growled at him in both books, it was hard not to empathize with all that was thrown on his shoulders. He didn’t ask to be the heir apparent and, as with all three, he was still a kid in so many ways.

A LOT goes on in this book, some of it was quite intense, but it does reflect the crazy we see in the media when it comes to the royals and celebrities all over the world and the toll it takes on all those involved. As for the secondary characters ~ Landen and Dalton were still my absolute faves. But Eloise, she’s the one I want to see truly happy, so crossing my toes that she’ll get her own HEA at some point in the future!

This is the end of duet of two amazingly written books. The first book left me screaming for this book in so many ways. If you haven't read Royal Watch, yes you should go grab that ASAP. I have always loved Stacey's books. From the book covers to the words on the pages. I fell in love with the worlds she creates and with every book, she only gets better. More creative, more fluid in the writing. Her characters are brought to life, tortured, maimed, and sometimes even killed. But they are also given joy and wonder. You can see and feel everything that goes into these books, every ounce of love, determination, and frustration. This book is no different and certainly gives you everything you'd expect and more from a book by Stacey Marie Brown. I absolutely adored Royal Command. It starts right where Royal Watch left off so there's no feeling of missing anything. By the end of the book, you can expect to feel like your insides have been ripped out and then stitched to the outside, but you can also feel like you've walked on cloud 9. I am intentionally being vague. I won't give the book away. But you will definitely want to read it!! 5 stars and 2 thumbs way way up.

One word. REDEMPTION.

Redemption for this series. Redemption for Spencer as a character. Redemption for my lost faith in SMB because holy hell, I'm not sure how this came out of Royal Watch. Royal Command was the superior installment in this duo. Hands down. It was well written, well paced and resolved a plethora of issues I had with the first book. Spencer finally stood up for herself. She finally went on the road to find her voice and told everyone to fuck off like the strong heroine that she was.

FINALLY.

Ya'll, I almost didn't read this book. I loved the premise when I read it. I loved Lennox (I never once had issues with him). But I just did not love the first book. In fact, I still hole heartedly believe that Royal Water was unnecessary fluff. Whatever.

Me thinks Theo will get his own book. Older, resentful, bitter, sex scandals, drugs and still a prince? He sounds like a fucking rock star.

I started reading this book as soon as I had finished reading the first book! I'm really happy that I waited for this book to release before reading the first book because the first book left the story at quite a cliff-hanger, so I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next! After reading this book, I can say that I enjoyed it even more than the first book! There was a lot more in the plot and the author did a great job at progressing the plot and moving it along! There was also more romance in the plot and the love triangle played a much bigger role, which I loved because I was hoping that it was going to play a bigger role! The romance also allowed for some seriously hot scenes and they were really steamy! There was also a big of action and suspense in the plot, which added to it and made me enjoy it more! The characters were again amazing and made this book even better! Spencer was again the main character, and in this book she was straight with one of her love interests and she told him what she really wanted in her life! I think that Spencer made the right decision for her, but it also came with consequences! Spencer also tried her best in this book and she stood up for herself! Spencer again had two love interest in this book and they were Theo and Lennox! The love triangle also played a bigger role in this book than it did in the first book and Spencer decided which guy she wanted to be with! It's fair to say that I'm Team Lennox in this duet, but he did hide some big secrets from Spencer and she deserved to know a long time before she found out! I felt a bit for Theo, even though he was a bit of an ass at times, because he did have real feelings for Spencer and was betrayed in this book! This book was only written from Spencer's point of view, which I was expecting because the first book was written this way as well! I enjoyed this book only being written through Spencer's eyes and it made sense for it to be because it was her story and her working out what and who she wanted in her life! I would still have found it really interesting to have gotten to go inside Theo and Lennox's heads and see how they were feeling about what was happening and how they were handling things though, even if it was maybe extra content or something like that! I'm really sad that this book is the final in this duet! I've really enjoyed both books and I'm sad to say goodbye to the characters! I did enjoy the ending and I do think that Spencer chose the right guy for her! She had also come a long way and was in a happy place! I do still have quite a few of this author's paranormal and contemporary books to read, so I'll definitely be checking them out soon and giving them a read! I can't wait to check out her other contemporary books! I also love the cover for this book a lot! I love how well it matches the cover for the first book and It's clear to see that the first cover features Theo and Spencer and this cover has Lennox and Spencer on it!

This book ended that only way it could have without me chucking my phone against the wall. I am so glad that she ended up with the right man!!! But I will say that I had to stop and rant to friends for a bit because I was so frustrated with her not standing up for herself to Theo and blaming herself when he was the one in the wrong. I kept waiting for her to scream, "I'M NOT ACTUALLY ENGAGED TO YOU! I NEVER SAID YES!" and "I DIDN’T CHEAT ON YOU! I BROKE UP WITH YOU BEFORE YOU FORCED AN ENGAGEMENT AGAINST MY WILL AND THEN KEPT DRAGGING IT ON INSTEAD OF ENDING IT LIKE YOU PROMISED!" But she didn't. And then later, she kept blaming herself for this change in his behavior being her fault, when it clearly wasn't. He had already changed from the boy she knew into an unrecognizable man who didn't care about her wants or needs and who never paid any attention to her. He had already changed when she broke up with him—he just became more angry and irrational afterwards. I kept wanting her to tell the people being harsh and judgemental of her that she didn't cheat on the prince, that she was broken up with him and not actually engaged to him. He deserved so much of the blame and not a speck of it landed on his shoulders

Anywho. Another thing that I was sort of scandalized about was Dalton and Eloise! Because she was like 17 in this book, and I thought he was in his 30s, so if something happened between them previously.... how old was she?!?!? But I love Dalton, so I accept it for now. (I also could have mistaken his age and be completely wrong about it lol)

I loved this second book of the dueo as much as the first book. I'm not fond of royalty and I was delighted that these two books showed how the upper class demand, dystroy intimidate and control what they consider is their right to do so. The love triangle between Spencer, Lennox and Theo continues but in this book you can definitely see where Theo was definitely counting on Spencer's strength and backbone in order to handle his duties. When things get tough and start to go sideways, Theo's name calling and bitterness shows his immaturity. Spencer soon learns that though she loves Theo she's not in love with him and that she doesn't want to be a puppet in the royal household and having no say in her life. Lennox has had some hard knocks in life and some secrets that Spencer isn't privileged to which might be a deal breaker in a secret love affair. Lennox can match Spencer's determination, strength and passion and boy is there passion between these two even though they started out hating each other in the beginning, their love heated up quickly. This book definitely has a few chuckles as well as heart stopping moments, I throughtly enjoyed this book and was sorry to have it end. I am hoping that Eloise's story is told as well as Laden's.
