“A ‘self-help’ book for Muslims, which seeks both to inspire Muslim women, but also to educate those outside the faith” – Dr Myriam Francois Since her conversion to Islam in 2002 Mathilde Loujayne has crossed paths with women from all walks of life on a common spiritual journey to discover Islam from a feminine perspective. Fuelled by a desire to find the right words to explain to her mother her choice to embrace Islam, this guide was born. Through Mathilde Loujayne's personal experiences - grief, high school, moving abroad, work, marriage, and motherhood - she addressses women's common concerns as they take the big, little steps towards finding a balanced lifestyle and a glowing heart in Islam.
this book is perfect for women esp for muslims and people new to islam. i love this author the way she writes is beautiful and her story is incredible to read. this brought me sm ease and honestly was a great refresher for the basics of islam. this book rly showed how beautiful islam is and how much Allah SWT values women and makes things easy for us. i loved reading abt Prophet Muhammad PBUH as well as his wives Khadija RA and Aisha RA as well. when i read moments of the Prophet PBUH it made me rly wish he was still here. the way he cared for us and the way he acted even when people were horrible to him, it rly inspires me to be better. overall, i'm glad to have read this.
Okay so I made a mistake of thinking that this book was for "ladies in Islam," you know the whole sex, periods, birth-control type of stuff but it was my fault for falling for the cover and not reading the description. (I guess this is when you say "don't judge a book by it's cover" nonsense), but here it goes...
-Book is targeted towards new Muslim converts and the author is also a convert so she basically wrote this book for other converts that wants basic information in Islam, but from a convert's POV. -She goes into many topics like the 5 pillars of Islam, how to pray, benefits of fasting, relationships and marriage, all the prophets and their history, all the Arabic terms and what they mean. -I think she did a good job at discussing all the main topics, but it wasn't detailed enough. The information was disorganized and some was brief. -I liked when she talked about her journey from being Christian to Islam and how she came to be. -I learned a few things like the 5-6 foods that are mentioned in the Quran that are beneficial for us. -Will new converts benefit from this book? Yes, it was informational but does not go into deep so if you want to learn the basics just to get started then this is a good book for you. -However if you are someone that is not a convert and is born Muslim like me then it's a good refresher to read this. -It's not free on Kindle, and it's around 238 pages.
Loved reading it. Quite an insight into Islam in a very friendly and casual tone, with personal anecdotes thrown in by the author. It was a wonderful introduction to the world's fastest growing religion.
I was going to use this as a resource for my Ramadan Challenge, but it wasn't very in-depth. It was what the title said: a convert's guide to embracing islam. She goes over the main points of Islam, her personal story, and gives some advice. I think it's a great book for people curious about Islam or new converts!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a very compassionate take on topics I knew very little about and it made me want to continue to learn more about being Muslim and Islam. I hope the writer will write more books like this one.
