Silas Hitman. Contract Killer. Assassin. No matter how you looked at it, I was a killer. I took lives and I did it for a paycheck.
Then I found Jessica.
It was unexpected, though it shouldn't have been.
But I was a killer and she was trying to turn her life around. Would she be able to see more than a man of death when she looked at me? Could she ever love someone like me? And what would I do now that I had nothing left to search for?
Jessica I might not have had the easiest time in life but I was working on changing that. I was chasing my dreams, I wanted a family. All the things I’d been through, they shouldn’t have mattered, but they did.
However, in the processes of trying to get my life together, I ended up falling into a huge messed up situation.
And the last thing I expected was to be saved by him.
Eve R. Hart has a habit of weaving stories laced thick with romance. They often bounce between awkward humor and dark themes- sometimes making a scary combination of the two. It doesn’t matter how it comes, she just wants love to win at the end of the day.
Eve lives on the coast of North Carolina with their partner in chaos, three beautifully nerdy kids, and a ridiculously sweet dog. When they need a break, you’ll find Eve lost in a book, playing board games with her family, or whipping up something crazy in the kitchen.
This was by far my least favorite of the five I read. It was so disappointing. Jessica has been around since the beginning of the Steele Paragons series. She’s the nice club girl that had a thing with Axe and a sad childhood. We finally get her backstory, and it was sad, but it wasn’t enough to keep me interested.
The outline/flow of the book was odd. It’s told in dual POV’s, but their parts are told parallel to each other and the couple isn’t even in the same room until the book is half over. Originally, Jessica’s part wasn’t too bad because she has something going on with her boss that was mildly interesting even though I felt like it was pretty obvious. But Silas’s parts were super boring because nothing is really going on, and he didn't really have a personality that you would expect from an assassin. He wasn’t badass…he was almost goofy…and that got old real quick.
Bottom Line- This was painful. I liked Jessica before, but she pretty much told us how street smart she was from her past while she made dumb decision after dumb decision. Silas was really sweet but missing anything dark or dangerous… and when they finally met, he was messed up from getting his ass kicked by two henchman which was a letdown cuz… he was supposed to be a badass assassin. I’m wondering if maybe the author is trying top appeal more to safety readers because these later ones are a far cry from the murdering, violent womanizers we saw in the first books of the MC series. I don’t need manwhoring and crazy OW, but I need something to be going on and this was a dud… and after the dangerous OM was dispatched, shit got boring. I did like how Axe visited her before her wedding. It’s nice to see them both get HEAs.
i really love this story)) though i don't understand how could survived nine-years-old girl alone on streets, it was really interesting read)) thank you)
Thank you for Jessica's story. I always wondered what happened to her, even worried about her.
Her and Silas are a beautifully written couple. While we're told their demons are there, this story, to me, is more about them letting go and moving forward. As a contract killer I must say I was expecting more........ blood!!!!! I'm so glad it wasn't that kind of story though.
I just loved it all. And we get to see Axe again, even if it is briefly.
Well done on another brilliant piece of work. Loved every minute of it ❤
Silas and Jessica have this connection that just grows into more. These two not only have quite the chemistry, but are cute together. Jessica is the light to Silas’s dark. They just fit. I really enjoyed this book. I read this book from front to back in one sitting. Killer Blonde had me on the edge of my seat while reading and I could not put it down. This was a good read.
I enjoyed the pace of the book very much! I loved how it quickly picked up and was able to feel in any blank spots. Absolutely loved getting to know these two more and the adorable relationship they have! Knowing more about what happened to Jessica was fantastic and the ending was had a great way of just tying up all the loose ends! Can not wait for the next one in the series!!
