“Don't give up yet my love, it doesn't feel like it's time. Hope is coming.”How can you lose the love of your life, but gain the greatest love you can ever know? In this gripping memoir, Louise Blyth charts the love story she shared with her husband and shares how it prematurely toppled into grief, pain and enlightenment. Hope is Coming documents what happened when thirty-three-year-old George, a stoical and dynamic father of two, was diagnosed with advanced cancer. Told through letters, love notes and text messages this true-story shares beautiful insight into one of life’s biggest milestones. It tenderly provokes a deeper look inside our hearts and shines a light on some of life’s biggest questions. The couple’s story highlights the strength and fortitude of the human spirit, whilst also teaching that peace and connection can emerge from sadness. This book will speak to all of those who have loved, lost and search for the meaning of life in death.
I find it impossible to rate books like this... so I'd just say that Louise's story is incredibly brave, honest, inspiring and hope-filled. It's not an easy read but she addresses death, grief, faith, and love so beautifully and I think anyone, whether they share her faith or not, would find this book moving and fascinating.
This book is a memoir of a love story and an account of loss and faith. It would be difficult to understand if you have no religious beliefs as such. I read it and reminded myself that even in the darkest of times when anger, sadness and extreme circumstances are at your door...there is always hope. I am a huge believer in asking for help from something more powererful than the human form. I believe that certain people connect with us just when we need them. And like Louise, I believe that if you have faith, help will appear when you need it. The story of Louise and George is beautiful , poignant and a reminder that even though we do not always get what we want, often we do get what is needed.
Louise has written an extraordinary account spanning the extreme highs and lows of a time in her life so incredible that I forgot this was autobiography. It was painful to remind myself this was an experience she had lived through. By the end I mourned George too! But what a triumph: tender, action-packed and morally challenging by turns. This book is rock solid grit, tears and supernatural bliss. The Saints are on their feet cheering you home Louise. Thank you for this wonderful book - and what a time to publish! Just as the whole world deals with loss, grief and death. Another miracle? I think so.
Not the easiest read but an honest book about a very sad situation. So amazing to see how God can enter into a situation in a very real way even where there is no background of faith or belief. The comfort, peace and hope He brought to their lives was beyond understanding. Need to be like Brianna, always open to His prompting.
I read this book as I too have been widowed in my 30s and really wanted to relate to the author in this book. The first half of the book I really related to what she was feeling but I found the second half of the book too ‘God’ heavy. There’s nothing wrong with sharing your faith but I thought it was a bit over the top. Otherwise a good read
This book is a real rollercoaster that I can't recommend enough. Parts are sad, but that is not the whole story. So encouraging and full of hope. Thank you for your courage in sharing with us Louise.
