My Pen is Huge

Rate this book
From New York Times bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes MY PEN IS HUGE, a Standalone Romantic Comedy.

Dear Mr. Merrick,

I quit.

And since you’re obsessed with your stupid pen collection, I thought it appropriate to take the big one you love so much and write my resignation letter. Kiss your pen goodbye, big man!

Because when I agreed to work for you—a hotshot journalist I’ve admired for years—no one told me that you had a secret life and that you’d bug my apartment, have someone killed, and make the moves on me just to test whether I’m serious about this job.

I mean, come on! What kind of boss does that? Yes, you’re ten degrees hotter than the sun, and you melt panties everywhere you go, but this “little intern” is done with your games.

From this day forward, consider me your mortal enemy, your biggest threat. Maybe your pen is huge, but my determination is bigger. See you on the battlefield, Mr. Big Pen.

Your ex-admirer,

Gisselle Walters

My Pen is Huge is book five in the OHellNo series by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. This book is a little different than the rest of this series. But, true to form, is full of the OTT hilarity this author is known for.

My Pen Is Huge, book #5 of the OHellNo series by bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

Gisselle Walters is twenty two years old, fresh out of college and ready to take on the world as a journalist. Her professor has recommended her for a job as an assistant to the legendary Leland Merrick. Gisselle needs this job. She’s buried in student loan debt. But even more than that, she wants to learn from the best. And that is what Leland is, the best in the business.

Leland Merrick is a journalist with dark secrets. He works alone, often in very dangerous situations. Plus, he has some pretty strong views about women being in some of the places his work takes him. He can’t deny, though, that Gisselle is beautiful. Their first meeting, he could feel the electric current between them.

“Leland Merrick is not what I expected. He is so much more.”

I would call this an enemies to lovers story because even with all the sexual chemistry between these two, they don’t get off to a very good start. Leland does everything he can to keep Gisselle out of the way and safe and Gisselle does everything she can to stay right in the thick of things. All the while, that thing between them is growing until it’s impossible not to accept the inevitable.

my pen is huge mimi jean pamfiloff - Google Search

Leland and Gisselle find themselves in one crazy situation after another as they try to navigate both the case they are dealing with and their feelings for each other. The other books in this series I felt more of the love story between the characters. This one, though, I had more trouble connecting with the romance part of things with everything else going on. But, if you enjoy crazy shenanigans, laugh out loud moments and some smexy times, as these two try to figure things out, then this book is for you.

Favorite Quotes:

Little does he know that while Camila has the mouth of a sailor, she’s not an easy can-o’-woman to open.

I will agree to meet… if you get down on your knees and apologize for the mean-ass crap you said and concede that I am not inferior to you simply because I have a lady garden instead of a flagpole.

The way he’s looking at me makes my chest buzz. I want to run away, but at the same time a flaming asteroid hurtling from the sky couldn’t move me. The need to be here with him feels like the nail-biter climax from the best suspense movie you’ve ever seen, plus the biggest tear-jerking happy moment of your life (finding your lost puppy), added to seeing a man so hot you stop whatever you’re doing and just absorb the heat.

My Review:

This was a fun, quick, and saucy rom/com full of irreverent humor, sensual steam, whimsical and outrageous situations, and quirky characters.

More often than not, the build-up of those we have lovingly admired could never hold up to the reality of meeting them and discovering they have cooties. And that is what happened to Gisselle, fresh out of university with her journalism degree and eager to start her dream job with her idol/international daredevil/journalist/lady killer/Leland Merrick. The sexy and globally acclaimed Leland turns out to be an infuriating Neanderthal and a first-class asshat. And her dream job; it lasted all of a few days. So what is an idealistic young woman to do but make him pay by becoming his competition, and she does, although things are not as they seem – are they ever?

Best ab workout, ever! Thank you, Mimi Jean Pamfiloff for MY PEN IS HUGE!

Yes, once again, Ms. Pamfiloff had me in stitches, with this latest romantic comedy and yes, I loved every word, every page as Gisselle Walters gets the opportunity to meet her journalist hero, the mysterious and daring Leland Merrick. Too bad she is about to discover that her hero is as human as everyone else and just maybe a little too full of himself, or is he?

Determined to be professional and prove her worth, our “shoot from the hip,” heroine manages to get herself in over her head, both in her love/hate feelings for Merrick and her attempts to be the best investigative journalist ever.

Funny, sassy, and full of mistakes, misconceptions and conclusions jumped a little too quickly, I absolutely loved every crazy moment!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Mimi Jean Pamfiloff! This is my honest and voluntary review.

I must admit I absolutely devoured this story but then again I do love this authors absolutely insane ideas. Something about it made me stay doggedly glued to my kindle. Was it the quirky non-stop banter or the bonkers idea that Leland is actually in many ways almost a shady man in black ? Leland is certainly someone who crosses the line in the name of a good story but having his POV to hand helps the reader get into his head and reasoning as to why he does exactly what he does.
Then again there's Giselle and her ambitions which really set Lelands teeth on edge. Giselle struggles to reconcile her idea of who Leland should be with exactly how he acts to hilarious effect. Their thoughts and indeed the dialogue is absolutely priceless but then again with this author I should know by now that nothing is taboo .
I loved the intensity of the relationship between the couple but if I'm honest it was most definitely the crazy situations that cropped up with everything but the kitchen sink thrown in . There are naughty references constantly, there's even a crazy hit man but it was definitely Giselles parents that got me chuckling the most . I loved it and the story drew me in from the first page so if you want a story to tickle your funny bone than this is most assuredly it .
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Oh My! If you want a laugh out loud read, you can’t go wrong with “My Pen is Huge”, this books is funny but the first few pages were hilarious. The story is jam packed with saucy one-liners and terrific monologues that will leave you either giggling away or laughing your head off.

Leland Merrick is the World Renowned Journalist that Gisselle Walters has alway looked up to. So when she gets a job as his assistant she’s over the moon. But in reality Leland turns out to be an arrogant, mysterious, egotistical, drop dread gorgeous man, and even though Gisselle can’t make up her mind if she likes him or not...she must confess he puts her knickers in a twist.
But Leland was in for a surprise too, he’s not used to back chat and his intern has a sassy mouth. He’s just trying to protect her, but how much can he say?

A great story. A little mystery and a lot of fun. A very enjoyable read!

This addition to the Oh Hell No! series may just be my favorite yet, and proves that wit and sarcasm is what Mimi does best. I could not stop snorting and laughing while reading this story, and each time I read her books, I’m reminded over again of how much I love her writing style of snark backed up by substance.

This story lives in the Oh Hell No! world, so we get to see characters from the past books, even though this could certainly be read as a stand alone. But it’s always so much better when we see old friends, especially from a different perspective (I’m looking at you, Mitch “the Bulge” Hofer). My Pen Is Huge is devoted to the relationship between Gisselle and Leland, and these two blend together so perfectly.

Like oil and water.

Gisselle is a newly graduated journalism major looking for her big break interning for THE Leland Merrick, the intrepid and famous journalist who risks his life for each story and has set the gold standard in getting the scoop. Only, from the very start, Gisselle’s bubble is burst when she actually meets the elusive Leland. The pompous, arrogant (albeit sexy) British chauvinist that greets her by comparing “pen” sizes is not what she had in mind. What was intended to be a mentoring relationship quickly turns into a competition on who can get the story first, and as long as they manage not to get themselves killed in the process, it’s anyone’s guess which one will get it.

I did not want this book to end. I was thoroughly enjoying myself taking in the banter between Gisselle and Leland which seemed so natural. I could literally hear their conversations taking place, and the fake condescension in Leland’s voice. From outrageously awkward marriage proposals to Leland the lamb wanting butt scratches, there were so many giggles for me in this book. The roadblocks Gisselle and Leland threw in one another’s way to keep each other off of leads were adorable, and the way they fought so hard to stay enemies when they wanted to be lovers was just so satisfying to read.

This really should be the “Oh Hell Yes!” series because I can’t wait for more.

It's been a while since I read Battle of the Bulge so it took a while to drop into the link with this book. Talk about a doh! moment!

description

My Pen is Huge is one fast paced, funny frolic that was totally entertaining and a hoot to read. These stories are all very over the top in silliness and plot line, but that is what makes them so great. It's as though all the characters and situations are projected through a megaphone, resulting in larger than life personalities and crazy to the extremes situations. Despite that MJP lion tames it all into a cohesive whole that just works. And works brilliantly.

I adored both Gisselle and Leland, especially the Leland in the T-shirt at the zoo and thoroughly enjoyed reading their story. Despite feeling incredibly hot and steamy, it's quite a slow burn romance, though once it ignites it burns with the heat of a thousand suns.

These are the perfect book when you need a break from reality, a rest from dark or angsty romances or just plain want to smile like a loon as you read it in public. It can be read easily as a stand alone, though once you've read it you will want to read all the other books! Totally recommend this.

This book is right up my James Bond loving alley!!

Funny, hot, suspenseful, sexy (the hotness needs more mention, enemies to lovers. Action, humor, smart sassy heroine, sexy, cocky, protective hero.

Fiery chemistry. Witty repartee. Cute animals. Quirky friends and family. Everything I love!

Devoured it in one sitting. Inspired to re-read the other books in the Ohellno series now.

Mimi always gives good book.

Leland is such a charmer, “I’ll call you whatever you like, love, but if you want to keep the conversation tame, I suggest not staring at my ***k.” He flashes a devilish grin." The man can only handle so much of his woman, “I did it because I care about you, so get over it, for eff’s sake, woman! I mean, bloody h*ll. Give me a break.... " This book was filled with so much humor, I loved it.

ARC REVIEW

Four hours! I knew I shouldn't have started it at bedtime next thing I knew it's four hours later and I'm finished. damn woman!

Oh Boy! This book. Where to begin? If you have read Battle of the Bulge the you should be familiar with these characters, this book starts before battle of the Bugle and continues past the end of it. So we do get mentions of past characters and an appearance by Abi but this is still completely a stand alone.

They say never meet your heroes, Gisselle get the once in a lifetime opportunity to work for a journalist she admires greatly but once she meets him all the mystique about him gets overshadowed by his chauvinism. Not lasting one day Gisselle discovers he's not who he seems but that doesn't stop her from pursuing her dreams, stealing his stories, and lusting after the man. But when push comes to shove she gives as good as she gets.

Leland Merrick is more than he seems. A sharp dressed man, determined to get his story go anywhere and knows all the right people to get it done. But one woman and his determination for the story gets sidetracked to protecting her from things she doesn't realize she's getting into. Even if she doesn't see it and thinks he's purposefully trying to derail her from her goal, well he is but for her own safety.

Overall, yet another hysterical read from MJP. Seriously this series is great for putting a smile on my face even when feeling depressed. I loved Marrick even when he was an ass. Gisselle is such a character, she conniving... I mean, smart. Her naivety started off funny but gets a little annoying. I can only take so much kindergarten words for sex and body parts. It makes me every excited for the foul mouthed Rose whose book is next. I kinda also want to meet Gisselle's brother. As a lover of puns and innuendos this book gets even more bonus points.

Oh Hell yes please and thank you Mimi Jean! This book is outrageous and hysterically funny. The kind of book that makes you laugh so hard at these two characters Gisselle the right out of college wide eyed journalist and Leland world famous photojournalist who thrives on danger, getting the bet story, his oversized ego and his penchant for collecting rare pens which is rather huge he'd say.
Leland and Giselle's work relationship gets off the a rocky start from the minute they meet. She's confused even by her job description but this girl takes no prisoners or any of Leland's snark. Getting this job means a lot to her, taking any of his bull totally unacceptable and let the games begin. When she gets frustrated with him and decides to go get her own story, despite what she thinks are his efforts to undermine her success she blows him off, creating problems for him to clean up and adds a bit of suspense to the story along with the serious sparks that fly between the two. As the plot thickens along with his large vocabulary for the word penis, this is serious wet your pants funny. His self talk is over the top outrageous and you'll absolutely want to take notes for future personal use! Along with a cast of side characters; oh good grief her parents.... snort. You'll have to trust me on this one, this book is a keeper!
In short this book is classic Mimi Jean at her best. Stellar writing full of comedic play, two main characters who are seriously uptight, the right amount of steam and a little suspense thrown in for good measure. I don't have the words for this one, save that it's a must read and you won't be able to put it down! Grab a pen and take notes!

So, First things first, as always, my thanks go out to Mimi and her team for once again choosing me to read an ARC of Mimi's newest baby! I am so blessed to have been able to read and review so many of this awesome lady's wonderful works as ARC's

Secondly, This book seriously needs to come with at least one warning!! Aside from the "hot Guys Ahead", and "Sexy Times" ones.
"Don't be drinking any liquids while reading this book!"

So, now down to the serious stuff of reviewing!

The laughs start within the first few minutes, so consider yourself warned.
Mimi has really gone all out with this international extravaganza. ! Her wonderful humor comes out in full force as she introduces us to her newest character, the arrogant, arseholish , enigmatic Leland Merrick, in all his awesome freelance journalist glory.
I found him the perfect combination of James Bond and Johnny English all rolled into one beautiful piece of eye candy!

Gisselle Walters is the perfect match for Leland, with her smart mouth and no mess ways these two were SO made for each other. Gisselle gave Leland just as good as she got, and then some! And that Marriage Proposal!!! OMG!!!! A tear ran down my leg when I read that!!!
I love the crossovers that bring each of these books together as a group, but don't actually make them necessary to read as a series, and did I see a little tribute to Micheal there?

As always, great work!!
this one had real heart to it, and made me laugh out loud on loads of occasions!

The OHellNo series is one of my favorites from Mimi Jean Pamifloff. Why? Because the books are sassy, witty, have grit, and things aren't always as they seem. Oh, and even though some of the subject matter is heavy, she still manages to add humor in the appropriate places. Add some sexy chemistry and we are left with a page-turning, rom-com of a book.

My Pen Is Huge centers on Leland Merrick, reporter extraordinaire, and his new intern and recent college grad, Giselle Walters. Leland is the best, and her professor manages to land her an internship with the best. Only Leland's life is a bit more complicated than just reporting on the most exciting stories. Despite his crusty and conceited exterior, he has a heart, and ultimately tries to help those less fortunate, even if it means his life is in danger.

Giselle is young, naive, beautiful, and determined. She's just the person Leland wants no where near his life and shady dealings. The last thing he wants is for her to get hurt, let alone the people he's trying to protect. But Giselle is not easily swayed. And his secrecy ends up creating more havoc for the two, depsite his good intentions. Oh, and the chemistry is hard to ignore. Even for a man as cold and seemingly selfish as Leland. But we as the reader know Giselle and Leland are destined to be together. If they can just communicate a bit...

Loved this one, can't wait for the next. This is my favorite series of Mimi Jean Pamifloff's and My Pen Is Huge is now my favorite of the series. Lots of favorites all around.

The first few pages of My Pen is Huge are downright laugh out loud funny! Talk about jumping to conclusions and getting it all wrong. The one-liners are outrageous and well timed and will elicit everything from a giggle to a bark of laughter. Another absolutely delightful romantic romp from Mimi Jean Pamfiloff.

This dare devil, always a step ahead of the pack, saving the world journalist, Leland Merrick is not only incorrigible, arrogant and mysterious but also drop dead gorgeous. He manages to put his new intern, Giselle Walters' knickers in a twist. But Giselle isn't the only one affected by the other. She pushes all his buttons and ticks Leland's timer with her sassy mouth and take no prisoners attitude. Every encounter they have they both fall a little deeper. From mentor/intern to lovers to rivals, these two don't give up or give into each other easily. She's determined to get the story and he's equally determined to pull out all the stops when it comes to protecting her. Even if it's from herself.

My Pen is Huge. Just the title alone can get a girl giggling. But the story, with its enemies-to-lovers theme, some thrilling intrigue, and those plot twists Mimi Jean Pamfiloff is known for, was as captivating as it was full of sass and charm.

‘I’d planned to perform a three-hour monologue for Merrick, exploring each and every facet of my hatred, entitled Oh, How I Hate Thee and Thy Huge Pen.’

It’s no surprise that I had a blast reading My Pen is Huge because, well, Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. Her brand of hilarity *always* amuses. And this particular series, OHellNo, has been all about the enemies-to-lovers trope–which, I must say, MJP has done a superb job of keeping each couple’s story unique. The characters do overlap but you can read the books as standalones. Read More

Journalism is not a job for the week of heart. It requires that you put in the hours, hard work and putting up with a sexist, maybe sexy on top, egotistical man who thinks he’s God’s gift to Gisselle in the form of a mentor. He pushes her buttons, but she’s no pushover. She knows how to fight back. Merrick was playing with Gisselle about her being his intern. She doesn’t take his joke well. Now the sh*t is gonna hit the fan because he pushed this woman to far for Gisselle is a reporter, she has a pen and she knows how to use it. That’s when thinks get dangerous for all.

This is a funny clever book. The characters and situations will keep you wondering where are all sane people are.

A warning to those that read in public: be prepared to making embarrassing loud snorting noises throughout the reading of this book.

Can you get more awesome than this? Seriously, I didn’t think I could love a pair more than our dear Abi and Mitch (though anything Henry is a close second), but these two made me laugh (and cry a little) the whole book. Giselle and Leland’s romance is equally hot And hilarious, and I love me a little lamb. 😂🤣😂🤣. The suspense was also great. I suggest definitely reading Battle of the Bulge before reading this, despite it being a standalone, so that you will be completely up on what’s going on, no confusion needed. I actually went back and reread the whole series, just to spoil myself with some Mimi Jean awesomeness. Definitely going in my Golden Rereads list for books I want to read over and over.

Another great read in the OHellNo series. Full of funny situations, witty banter, mysterious who-dun-its, and surprises, My Pen is Huge kept me smiling from start to finish.

Our Hero Leland Merrick is a world famous journalist who acts like a sexy James Bond…but is also kind of a misogynistic pig. Giselle is his new intern: the one he didn’t remember hiring. Thankfully, Giselle isn’t going to let his “big pen” get in the way of getting a good story.

I loved Leland’s protectiveness, even if it was a little sneaky. And Giselle was so strong and independent; she didn’t take any crap from Leland and easily dished it back out.

Don’t miss my cameo! Leland’s office manager is me. I’m only missing the rain boots!

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is another laugh out loud book from the author that had me spitting coffee at my husband by accident.

This book mixes up in the previous book Battle of the Bulge so we know the outcome of one point in the book, however it is nice to see more of Leland and how he deals with Gisselle and the battle of wits between them.

Gisselle is a very sassy 22yr old and although she gets feeling for Leland is determined to prove to the world her skills as a writer on her own merits and really gets under Lelands skin.

I enjoyed this book so much that i read it in just a day and was excited to see that Gisselle's friend Camilla will be getting a story. I can't wait for another book in this series.

My Pen is Huge is the laugh out loud funny, fifth installment of Mimi Jean Pamfiloff's OHellNo series. 22 year old Giselle Walters, lands her dream job thanks to a recommendation from her college professor as an assistant to one of the finest journalists of his time, 31 year old Leland Merrick. They instantly get off on the wrong foot, and Giselle finds herself fired in a humiliating manner within the day! What else can a woman scorned do except get even and beat the pompous journalist at his own game?

My pen is bigger than yours

I can't believe I found a man like Leland to love so quickly. I collect pens and have a understanding of what is big and what is not, but when Gisselle hears his argument about it, i am floored. The book is quick, witty and absolutely perfect. You have a misadventures, love, a hitman with a book deal and HEA. What more can you ask for. I read it in one sitting, because i couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the her bestie book.

I swear I laughed so HARD I thought my husband was going t have me committed. Then I had to read some passages out loud to him. The smerck on his face was priceless.
This books flows so well, the story twisty and intriguing. The humor is so well done it doesn't feel contrived, I felt like the words were coming out of my mouth.

This well-written, fast-paced romance has drama, suspense, humor, investigative journalists, competitiveness that is kicked into high gear, chemistry and steam with two determined journalists who are our H and h. The H and h are intelligent, pull pranks on each other, are crafty, and have secrets. This is their perilous journey toward a HEA. I loved it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Awesome Story

It truly amazes me how Mimi continuously writes such wonderfully fun, romantic, and unpredictable stories. Her characters, Leland and Griselle are perfect. I dream of a man like Leland with his sexy British accent and killer looks. Griselle is smart and way stronger than you realize. Lastly, and this is just a warning, prepare to be up all night reading and to be mad when life takes you away from this book.

Leland and his intern, no assistant, no....

And in other news, a romance author was possibly kidnapped by a vampire. Go figure!! Gisselle is hungry for a juicy story; she has student Liam’s to pay, rent is due and her journalism hero is a jerk, hot but still a pig. She’ll show his chauvinistic ass just what a woman can do, even if his pen is huge. Whatever!
