MY NOTES

1. Minimalism is the intentional promotion of the things we most value and the removal of everything that distracts us from them. It is not about living in a white box; it is about freeing up time, money, and mental energy to spend on your Deep Purpose.

2. Once you have cleared the clutter, you fill the space with Hygge. This is the art of creating intimacy and warmth. It is found in the atmosphere—dimmed lighting (candles), natural textures (wood and wool), and the presence of loved ones.

3. True contentment comes from a sense of shelter and safety. Key components include Equality (no one person dominates the conversation), Gratitude (taking it in), Harmony (it is not a competition), and Truce (no talk of politics or drama that causes stress).

*The One-In, One-Out Rule. To maintain the balance, adopt a physical habit of editing your life. For every new item that enters your home, one must leave. This prevents "clutter creep" and keeps your focus on the quality of your possessions rather than the quantity.

*Avoid Consumerist Comfort. Stop thinking you can buy a life you love through more decor. Hygge is a feeling of the soul, not a purchase from a catalog. If the cozy items create debt or clutter, they are the opposite of Hygge.

*Stop Saving the Good Things. Don't wait for a special occasion to light the candle, use the good china, or wear the comfortable sweater. Minimalism teaches us that we have enough now, and Hygge teaches us to enjoy it now.

Not my favorite minimalist book, but then again, it's hard to follow Marie Kondo in minimalist literature.
It think it was pretty bold to start out the bundle with cutting down (of figuring out) what relationships are worth your time and energy, but I guess it makes sense when you're trying to redefine your support system and way of life.

Ehh. Nothing much else to say. Although, Hygge videos on youtube are super interesting and what drove me to try to read this book.

Sounds suspiciously like something written by an AI.
