Camden

I had spent so much of my life alone, disconnected, unable to form any kind of lasting bonds. After so long, I had begun to believe that was all there would ever be for me, had come to accept it as my reality.
Then there she was. Everything I wasn’t, everything I convinced myself I could never have.
But, God, I wanted.

Annie

I had been on my own for so long. Hopping states, changing towns, never able to put down roots, make friends, form connections.
It was how it had to be.
There was no other option for me. I had long since learned to come to peace with that.
Until Cam.
Until there was a reason to want to stay, to want to build with someone, to finally get all the things I had been denied.
Even as I started to let myself believe any of that was possible, my past found me once again, ripped everything away from me.
Ripped him away from me.
And everything we had just begun to explore.

This series NEVER gets old or stale. It does NOT repeat the story over and over with only a name change here and there! Eighteen books in and The Henchmen Series by Jessica Gadziala continues to grow, to change and to be just as fabulous as the very first book!

CAMDEN proves that being a bad boy doesn’t mean you can’t be a good man, a vulnerable man or a man who needs to be loved just as he is. Annie is on the run, hiding from a stalker who wants to own her. Cam is the quiet guy who lives across the hall of their apartment building.

When big-hearted Annie makes a wrong assumption about Cam, their love story becomes the beginning of one of the sweetest tales yet in the dark world of Navesink Bank.

Get ready to melt a little, to want to cry, rage and cheer for these characters as, once again, Jessica Gadziala opens the door to the hearts and minds of her characters and breathes life into the world they live in.

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Jessica Gadziala! This is my honest and voluntary review!

This was beautiful. Not a word often used to describe an MC book but it was. Both Cam and Annie are sweet and perfect for each other. I really enjoyed this one but…

I know, I know…

I felt short changed when it came to the chinless wonder. I know he’s a just there to get these two together so you could argue I don’t need more. But I’d say I do.
Who was he really?
How could he find her so easily every time?
What job did he do that allowed him the time to do this?
And the money?
I’m assuming he was responsible for her mother’s death. But we’re never told.
And why weren’t we there for Cam’s revenge?

Anyway it’s straight onto West now.
Okay so I moved onto West but several pages in and I realised that Ferryn was back. So it’s The Rise of Ferryn for me now.

Ahhh... finally back to my favorite place with my favorite men (and the girls club) The Henchmen. This series will always be one of my absolute favorite MC series. I have loved and and reread every one. They are definitely go-to books for me.

Camden has been a favorite for me. His silence drew me into him. He had a few great years as a kid and that was it. The rest of his childhood was horrific. I can definitely relate . He spent the rest of his years doing what he could changing course when needed. Developing bonds with Liv and Astrid along the way. All of them becoming a family. As things changed again they all took root in Navesink Bank. Camden even joining the Henchmen. And then along comes Annie.

Annie had been on the move for several years. Taking and job she could under the table to make ends meet. When she moves to Navesink Bank for the first time it feels like it could be more. When she meets Camden they just seemed to click. It was like they were always meant to be.

I really enjoyed the whole dynamic of their relationship. I enjoyed have much they were able to help support each other. Camden giving her roots and companionship. Annie giving Camden a soft place to build his confidence. We even got some time with other Henchmen and some of the girls. This book/series is a must read!!!!

My unicorn author addiction was stilled one more time ❤
This 18th book in the Hanchmen MC series is a sweet and dreamy love story without much drama, this time.
The amazing way in which Jessica created this story is so heartbreaking and swoony 😍 that you can only read it in one go.
Regardless that this book it not as dramatic as the other books in the series and is just a perfect love story about two broken souls, it was as always so beautiful written and was so unbelievable moving, you have to love it. Camden and Annie are both so lonely and emotional separated from the rest of the world, that they story brings us all hope and dreams that everyone has the one person somewhere in the world, that gets you and has the ability to heal you.
What you always can count on by Jessica's books, is the epic HEA with a view in the future and some glimpses in the life of the characters from the previous books and future generations. I hope they will someday have their own stories too ❤❤❤

I don't think I will ever not stop what I am doing when Jessica Gadziala releases a new book and one-click immediately. This is the 18th Henchmen book and this series just keeps getting better and better!

Cam and Annie are just perfect! There are so many reasons to love these two...from Annie's babbling (I just loved her), to her unwavering acceptance and all of Cam's vulnerability, strength & his sweetness. These two ya'll! All the heart eyes for sure🧡 There isn't any extra drama or angst just a true love story about two people unwilling to let the other go; GAH so good! 🧡

Everybody has an indulgence. Don’t be that person right now on a high horse that claims they have no weakness for a certain snack, activity, book trope, or the Hallmark movie channel at Christmas....you know what it is and you should never apologize for having one.

Makes us human and keeps us humble.

description

Mine are a good cup of hot coffee, a cold glass of expensive whiskey, my man smelling like he cranked on that hot car in the garage (that I know hits 110mph easily), sending someone the perfect gift, watching an old musical under a soft blanket....and always, a good book .

Camden was a great weekend indulgence.

description

As with most of The Henchmen Motorcycle Club, we’ve had an introduction to Cam previously in other novels and knew bits and pieces about him. By bits and pieces we knew he had chosen not to speak (because, reasons) and you could time the mornings by his arrival with a box of donuts.

We are given the opportunity to spend a lot of time in the headspace of the hero before he really gets to know the heroine. This introspection gives Cam a depth that is unexpected and much appreciated in an outlaw biker who spends his days not speaking.

I love a protective alpha male in my reading, (who doesn’t?) but I really get the warm-and-fuzzies for a man who takes special care of the women in his life. We get that in past books sure, but Cam’s attention to detail truly sets him apart.

description

Oh Annie girl, welcome to the family.

I’m all about a girl on the run story as much as the next person. This one hit a personal note on a level that left me breathless at one point...Annie and I could exchange stories over coffee sometime. Personal hang-up aside, I loved hearing Annie’s sweet and incredibly thoughtful voice. She was tailor made for Cam.

Kind when she needn’t be, patient when Cam required it, and self realized enough to be aware she knee-capped her sentences, Annie is a softer side of Henchmen women that we could all learn a thing or two from.

description

The epilogue as always deserves an “all hail” to the queen of endings.

Each visit to that 1% MC compound in Navesink Bank leaves us pining for the next patch, next hero, and next adventure, and this one is no different....lookin’ at you West, Colton, Vance..who will the love bug bite next?

All I know is that I’ll be along for the ride.

Ok so somewhere along the line my review hasn't saved and I've only now noticed. Extremely pissed and equally frustrated but nothing can be done so here's attempt two and yes I will be triple checking it posts.

Camden and Annie's story is everything and more. I've been dying for Cam's story since the first peak of him.

Cam is my new favourite. I mean I know I say this every damn time but seriously he takes the cake. How can someone who's mute, someone who doesn't speak make you feel every kind of emotion as if he's spoken them. Cam is the kind of man who loves hard and protects harder. Despite him not talking he communicates in a way that you just know what he's trying to say. You feel him. He's gentle and loving to those that mean something and once he commits to you that's it.

Annie is the polar opposite to Cam in personality. I feel like I could connect to her in a special way because I see a piece of me in her. She talks.. I mean the girl can talk the head off you. She's sweet and caring and in need of someone to show her love and protect her. She has this infectious likability. Her rambling thoughts are adorable paired with that innocence she has made her so completely perfect for Cam.

These two fit so perfectly together it's almost as if they were made for eachother. Both of them running from a past they don't want to face with secrets they don't want to tell. Their story isn't crazy action packed. It's a slow burn romance that blossomed. They took their time opening up and discovering who they are as individuals as well as together and I feel like we really got to dig deep and peel back those layers. Their relationship is the absolute sweetest despite a few bumps in the road. The chemistry was fire from the beginning and only intensified as their relationship progressed. It was easy to feel that connection between them and believe in them.

The side characters as always as a fucking hoot in the Henchmen world. That la familia vibe and love between them all is palpable despite their many differences. The endless banter, bickering and crazy hilarious shenanigans will forever entertain you. You feel the love between them all. However there is always one side characters per Jessica's books that stand out and for me West is that guy!. I need his story like yesterday because I know that cheeky loving man has a past I won't see coming.

Just everything about this story I loved hard. A sweet romance with two people who deserve that once in life time kind of love. A story that kept me gripped in its clutches from the first page and characters that made me love them harder than I thought possible. Some heart break, a lot of love and laughter and some sinfully sexy time that will leave you all kinds of hawt and bothered.

Jessica continues to amaze me with her crazy talented ability to make me feel deep.

For all those who have not read any Jessica Gadziala's books, this is my public service announcement, GO, BUY, READ, NOW! Camden isn't my only 5 star read by JG, and I know it won't be the last.
Now for all of those who have read JG, Camden sent me back to the reason why I fell in love with JG books in the first place.
Camden is the dark and brooding hero who doesn't let anyone close. Annie is the bright and bubbly new neighbor. She's all soft lines and innocent babbling. Strong in her own right and her light isn't jaded by her past.
I loved the simplicity of Cam and Annie's story. It reminded me a lot of how I felt when I read Ryan and Dusty's story from the Mallick's. It's all homey comfort that had me melting in between the lines of the words. Of course, JG wraps everything up for us in that magical way she has through the epilogue.
I haven't had a new favorite Henchmen for a while now, but Camden has shot up there to the top five and Annie is most definitely a new favorite heroine. I'm so excited for everyone to get to share their story.

5 Annie and Camden Stars

Camden is the eighteenth installment in The Henchmen MC Series by Jessica Gadziala. I wasn't sure what to expect with Camden, we got snippets of his story is past books but not much.  The Henchmen Series is one of my favourite series and I was so excited for another book in the series.

We get a look into Cam's past and it was heartbreaking. I may have shed a tear of two! His childhood started off great with loving grandparents, but with a huge tragedy he lost it all and didn't speak again after.

Annie from the first chapter had me, She was so sweet, caring and so adorable when it came to Cam. She was kick as and a perfect match for Camden. The two are complete opposites with Cam never speaking and Annie never shutting up they are quite the combination for sure.

What you always can count on by Jessica's books is kick ass leading ladies, a silent brooding hero and such great secondary characters that make her books epic to me! As always Jessica leaves us with an epic epilogue as well.

Yes! Two of my favorite tropes in one book, a h on the run and someone who hardly talks. This book was great storytelling with wonderful characters. I really love how JG brought them together and showed their softer sides with each other. It felt real. One of the things I love most is how easily they were able to be themselves with each other. As usually with JG the story flows beautifully and keeps you wanting more (from the community). I am excited to see what goes on with West in his book and learn more about his deeper sides.

Everytime I think a book I read from JG couldn't get better and make me fall in love with her characters more, she does. This book is so frick'n good. I absolutely fell in love with Camden. Also, Annie was absolutely perfect for Camden and for this particular story. I could go on and on but trust me you just need to read this one for yourself.

Camden is a short and sweet, insta-love story about two broken and lonely souls who find strength and happiness in one another. It’s not deep, and though it has some angst and suspense. I would not describe it as either angsty or suspenseful. It is quite simply, a simple love story.

Camden, the latest Henchmen to find his happily every after, does not speak. It’s not that he can’t, its that he doesn’t. Cam stutters and was taught young to keep his mouth shut, so he does. Annie is on the run for her own safety. She does not put down roots, make friends or leave a paper trail because she never knows when she’ll be found and have to run again. When Annie moves across the hall from Camden in the run-down apartment building he lives in, these two broken souls find the piece they each need to mend.

Looking for a quick read with a rewarding HEA and kick-a** epilogue, this is your book.

Cam's story

So for those of you familiar with this 'universe', you will know Camden doesn't speak. To finally find out his back story and see him fall in love was worth the wait. Not as hard hitting and angsty as some of the other books (less extreme subjects) but a well thought out story line and brilliant characters as always. Love all the henchman books and can't wait to read the next one.

Merged review:

This book is amazing. For those who follow the whole Navesink Bank universe, as well as the Henchman MC, you will know Cam doesn't speak. This is his back story and while the story is still very good, it doesn't have the extreme triggers that some of the other books have. I loved the characters, as always Jessica writes them beautifully. Annie is a sweet woman in an unfortunate situation, but this gives her the drive to connect to Cam.
The normal themes of strong bad ass women, caring alpha males, friendship and family chosen rather than by blood and the ability to heal when given the right support, carry through the series.
I can't wait to read West's book, not to mention the reappearance of Reign's daughter, which every henchman fan is desperate for.
If you are new to Jess's books then check out the Navesink reading order on her website, it's well worth starting from the beginning to get the full depth of this world!
Well done again Jessica!

What a wonderful story! I cried and laughed and Cam totally stole my heart! He has definitely made top 3 on my fav JG characters. Just enough mystery to know your in Navesink bank universe. I think they only thing I wanted was just a little bit more into why and what happened with a certain person who was taken care of, but I understand that wasn’t the point of the story but curious minds and all. Annie and Cam seriously are perfect together. I found it endearing that Annie was a blabber because I am too and I think that is one reason I love her character so much, I was able to relate to her so much. She is shy,but not painfully so. She has some spark to her too where she will let you know what is what. Those epilogues though... perfection!!!

So good!!

This story was absolutely perfect. Learning more about Cam and what made him not speak, and then him finding his “sweet” who didn’t care a thing about him speaking or not speaking. Though I think my absolute favorite was the epilogue. It gave me all the feels.

Cam was a very interesting character. I’ve been wondering about his story for what seems like forever. I loved it and I think Annie was the perfect fit for him. I loved the dynamic between Cam, Liv and Astrid in Liv’s book and again here in Cam’s book and I’m really interested in Astrid’s now. It’s amazing to me how an author can write so many books for 1 series and they are all very very different. Nothing is the same and it doesn’t get old. There’s always new adventures, new villains, new girls and some new men joining the group. Ive come a long way in the Navesink Bank universe and I’ve loved every single one of these books.

Hot, sexy man

What can I say... I LOVED Camden. For reasons unbeknownst to me, Camden has been my favourite book in a long time. The main characters - Annie and Camden - are so likeable that you just don’t want the story to end! The Henchmen remain one of my favourite MC’s whose characters bring out the nostalgic thoughts and feelings.

Well written Jessica!

JG is a definite go to author for me having read over 45 books and having stuck with the Henchmen for 18 of those. I love the world of NB and particularly the MC within it. Unfortunately this one wasn’t great.

We have a heroine named Annie that is on the run from a guy with no Chin named Thomas. He was able to find her from place to place even though we aren’t EVER told how he was able to. How could he afford to do this for what I am assuming years considering how many cities she has mentioned going to? Why? Did he kill her mum? It was possible he was behind it. Why wouldn’t that have been a consideration by any of the suspicious MC members?

Finally she manages to befriend a neighbor who is in the local MC. Well she more than befriends him. Cam is the silent type of the past books friends with the arms dealer Liv who robbed Roderick delivering a deal. They got together. So the team ended up in NB. Cam is lonely too being that he isn’t a big communicator until he is - with her. Their friendship means a lot to both of them and when Thomas finds her again she runs.

Here’s the thing though, Thomas didn’t seem all that frightening.. he was chased off from the coffee shop by two girls from the Mallick side. Yeah, some of the women in NB are true badasses but Thomas wouldn’t have known that. He was a big puss. Bullying Annie but not ruthless or menacing in how JG describes him. No chin.

So he has been built up in her mind because she witnessed the ropes, handcuffs and he chases her from town to town. As readers don’t we deserve to see him put down? Why couldn’t we have had that on paper with Cam who took an entire day to get this done? I was very disappointed with that. They are badass bikers, the ENTIRE point of the series is to read the violence - sorry not sorry!

I would have thought we could have had him finally get hold of her at least long enough to be properly rescued. Where are the days of the team coming in and covering up the mess? Getting to the bottom of things and interrogating him in a room to find out why and if he killed her mum. It just seemed to easy. Too shall I say, boring. Apart from sexy times this read very innocently for this genre. Anyway, that’s done now I’ll read Ferryns story it sounds darker than this one.🙃

Finished the book and very much loved it. I loved that they got to know each other the way they did b/c I think it reflects the way a lot of people today get to know or start off relationships. It was also great b/c you saw them progress and get to know each other.

In some ways I really loved how Jessica Gadziala handled Cam’s stuttering. My daughter is a person who stutters and how this is dealt with and handled in books is important to me. I loved that she didn’t have Cam just overcome it, b/c that really wouldn’t be realistic so I really appreciated that it mentioned he didn’t overcome it and that she gave him time to say what he needed and that he was comfortable being his stuttering self with his friends. I do wish to point out that slowing down when talking doesn't actually help those with a stutter. Talking slower or being relaxed can have no impact whatsoever on stuttering. Yes, there are people who may stutter when anxious or nervous or talking fast, but for most people who stutter, and for people like Cam, with a severe stutter, these things may have no impact. And yes, you don't stutter when singing - often people who stutter can also read/recite lines and not stutter as well. But it doesn't have to do with having it memorized, true stuttering isn't about not being able to think of the word you want to say or having an issue picking the words. It's a brain issue and has to do with physcially the words.

Megan Washington has a great Ted Talk that speaks to stuttering and singing: https://www.ted.com/talks/megan_washi...

My thoughts after reading this book were that this is what I would call an introspective romance. For the first half of the book Cam and Annie spend a considerable amount of time examining their own thoughts and feelings. No actual words are spoken for the first couple of chapters.

Now not speaking isn't something new for Cam. Due to something traumatic in this childhood he has chosen to not speak. When we first met him in Roderick and Liv's book he defiantly stood out as a fascinating character and whose story you really wanted to know. A man who formed a tight brother/sister bond with two women. Once Liv settled in Navesink Bank he, along with Astrid, put down some roots and and he then joined the Henchman.

Annie life has had many huge changes to it over the years. The latest being on the run/hiding from a stalker ex boyfriend. Being as the first couple of chapters were all the inner thoughts of Cam and Annie it was funny to find out she was actually a chatty cathy. Quite the combination – a chatty cathy heroine and a by choice mute hero. One you wouldn't think would work, but it did work – they were each others jin and jang. This was a sweet romance with almost no angst in the story.

Amazing Epilogue ahead...

Cam is a member of the Henchmen that you would've read more about in the book Roderick. I got a lot of his "recent past" in that book. This book tells his story including his childhood along with many of his challenges & trauma. The making of the Man known as Cam. This book did not seem as dark or violent as some of the other Henchmen books, with only a nod to how problems typically get handled by the MC. In this aspect it was a bit different than her books in this series. Also slightly different to me was the time spent on Annie's (the heroines) memories. This provides a good view into her thoughts & what motivates her. I really loved Cam & I loved Annie for him. I will now always have fond thoughts attached to a white board. <3 This book is best summed up as More than words. It has an amazing epilogue that can not be missed. It's laundry day, I'm off to match socks.
