Hunted, Kyrie’s parents gave up their lives and fled to an isolated mountain valley in Colorado before she turned one. They raise her in isolation, keeping her from the outside world to conceal her growing powers and to protect her from those who wanted to take her.
When both of her parents die before she turns seventeen, Kyrie disobeys their standing order to run and hide and instead tries to save her mother. That decision draws her into a modern world she does not understand, forces her to move to Kansas, and places her under the guardianship of an aunt she never knew existed.
Uncertain of her powers and who can control her, she finds herself drawn into a small group of friends through the love of art and playing Dungeons & Dragons. When sword-wielding men try to kill her, these new friends rally around her as she embarks on a campaign of discovery to learn who hunts her, what her parents did to her as an infant, and where her powers come from.
Thaddeus (or Ted to those who know him) has always been interested in fantasy and science fiction. Early on, when just starting high school, his avid reading grew into a desire to write. A desire which has turned into a life long pursuit.
When not reading or writing, he enjoys hiking in the mountains, landscape photography, and spending time with an overly intelligent, but wonderful horse.
He has degrees in Chemistry, Computer Information Systems, and Business Management and has held a handful of jobs: some in retail, some in healthcare, but primarily in the technology fields.
Thaddeus currently lives in Kansas with his wife and horse, but wishes there were more mountains visible on the horizon.
I loved this book!! We start with Kyrie living on a farm away from society finding her mom dead. She’s never been a part of society, never used a phone, never drank soda etc and we quickly learn why. Someone was searching for her and her parents. Hunting them. And now that she’s popped back up on the radar they’re searching for her too. And they will stop at nothing to find and control her or kill her. She has to navigate high school, magical powers and sword wielding lunatics. It grabs you and suck you right in!
This book is great for Dungeons and Dragons fans. This is a heavily detailed story about a young girl who is suddenly, tragically left alone in the world. Her parents have sheltered her to extreme measures where she can barely function normally in society. I would highly recommend studying up on Dungeons and Dragons before reading if you’ve never played. A lot of questions are left unanswered by the end. All in all a good read with action and suspense.
