M.R. Forbes is the author of a growing number of science-fiction series including Rebellion, War Eternal, Chaos of the Covenant, Stars End, and the Forgotten novels. Having spent his childhood trying to read every sci-fi novel he could find (and write his own too), play every sci-fi video game he could get his hands on, and see every sci-fi movie that made it into the theater, he has a true love of the genre across every medium. He works hard to bring that same energy to his own stories, with a continuing goal to entertain, delight, fascinate, and surprise.
He maintains a true appreciation for his readers and is always happy to hear from them.

I love the story, however the audio version is really hard to follow along. I’d recommend reading this book and then (if you really want to) listen to the story
This review is on Invasion (Forgotten Vengeance Book 1) by M.R. Forbes. This is the second book I have read by this author. It is a Sci-Fi Military Science Fiction Space Opera story with numerous deadly attacking aliens and thrilling military battle scenes.
The story starts with a United States Marine Corps Sergeant named Isaac Pine being interrogated by a Five Star General named Aeron Haeri of the Centurion Space Force located on Proxima B, which is a star system 4+ billion light years from Earth.
Sergeant Pine was saved by Proxima B doctors who removed a brain tumor that would have killed Pine before he had been put in cyrostasis 236 years ago on Earth. Aliens wanted to save his genetic potential during the first Alien invasion on Earth. Pine was found and revived and sent to Proxima B to get help for the current war on Earth before all humans are exterminated by new alien forces.
Aliens called Relyeh and Axon are fighting each other along with other alien threats that are in the process of defeating what’s left of humans on Earth. General Haeri wants information from Pine about Sheriff Hayden Duke who is on Earth fighting for human survival. Some humans fled Earth during the first wars and colonized Proxima B. Very little help has been offered to those left on Earth and that is one of the reasons Pine was sent to Proxima B to try and convince General Haeri to help.
The fight on Earth between the aliens and human forces are increasing in intensity as the aliens have decided to wipe all human presence from the planet. Sheriff Duke and other pockets of resistance are in a desperate struggle to defeat new and larger alien attacks. If help doesn’t arrive soon, the war on Earth and then Proxima B will be lost.
I give this book Five Stars because the story is thrilling, fast paced, entertaining and MSF at its best. The main characters are numerous and some exist in other book series, which results in less character development. The relationship between aliens and humans may be confusing to some readers if this is the first book read by this author. The plot is very complex and difficult to follow in some chapters. The dialogue and writing style are good. The science is believable and original. I look forward to reading the next book in this thrilling three book series.
Keep reading good science fiction and let me know when you find an interesting novel or author.
So they've been invaded, found some sort of life on Earth only to be met with another invasion, this one always expected but nevertheless the arrival meets them unprepared. The book builds up over a short time period of people colliding and meeting up to, hopefully find a solution to the next disaster that has hit Earth. Hayden, grizzled warrior, and Caleb back from his adventures and a journey through the Axon worm hole to band together with the people on Earth. Meanwhile a small group escape from Proxima to arrive right at Earth to find Hayden only to find the invasion kicking off and crash land in the middle of it. The book ends on a cliffhanger, or cliffhangers! Questions surrounding the Axon's involvement and plan for Earth, Proxima's agenga, mystery abounds and lives are lost. Roll on the next book to unravel some of the plot and to see just how they are going to save Earth if indeed they can!!
For military sci fi it’s largely missing the testosterone fuelled nonsense of some books and the techy orgasms. It’s definitely missing some of the more unpleasant right wing in your face nonsense of some authors.
Characters , whilst not terribly deep, are interesting enough to carry the story.
But the big issue really is that there are stacks of novels by Mr Forbes and they never seem to carry the story on a great deal. There’s a bit of progression filled out with lots of battles. The whole story could be told in half the books he has put out.
This is the 16th book I read from this series. I don’t understand how Mr. Forbes manages to come up with so many stories, keeping up with the tension, all the drama, and the action in the Forgotten universe without making his books repetitive or boring. In each sub-series, each character contributes with their own awesome personality to turn their part of the story into a real page-turner. In Forgotten Vengeance, my two favourite characters so far, Caleb and the Sheriff, finally come together to kick some Relyeh ass! This universe keeps getting better and better.
This book is a long read for virtually no payoff. There is no character development. There is no world building. It is mostly comprised of vapid communication between unengaging protagonists and overly descriptive fight scenes. The antagonists are boring at best and the descriptions of them are antithetical to the fighting as the plot armor of the main characters is "whatever-I-need-to-survive-anium." I would prefer to read the novelization of a Resident Evil movie over a sequel in the series.
This is a nail biter. You have another Marine, Issac who’s now out of stasis and now Colonel Card still in the mix. Plus, you have Sgt. Walk who has an ick and now Earth is being attacked allegedly by the most power Relyeh. Let’s see how this turns out, because Sanisco is under attack and a Axon has Sheriff Dukes wife. To be continued.
There is a lot to like here but I did find myself wondering if this might have been better as two or three novellas. It tries to link three stories but the weave does not really work. The aliens are a bit one dimensional.
The book follows a number of people in their quest against an alien invasion. Each play a different part in trying to defeat the aliens. The characters are built very well and are engaging in their personalities. The storyline was very enjoyable.
A great mind wrote this and created a world of realistic people to learn about, which is a true story and that you can get into. It will make you feel like you are there and living in that world.
Overall I like the series. At times though, I find it's getting drawn out more than I can take and humans seem to be outmatched but still find a way to win - then get beat up again! I'm on to the next book :-)
So many holes! Halfway through the book and there’s still a massive disconnect between the reader and the story. I don’t feel like I know who is who and what is what. This seriously needs more explanation and less skipping around
Not a bad series start (well, not really a start, as it refers to things that happened in previous series), and I think it's going to be a decent series. I liked this one.
Hayden and Natalia, in the thick of it again. Well worth the read. I need to go 20 characters to have this review publish. I don't want to Spoil anything for anyone.
This is the one where all the previous elements of all the other stories come together. This is the one where it's make or break for the remnants of the human race and the author does not disappoint. There was action ,suspense, revenge, and above all else, justice. A must read if you've been following the series, but even if you haven't, it's still a must read.
