Dreadnought; a museum piece in the frontline of an interstellar war.

Lieutenant Commander Cohen has been given command of a relic, an orbital museum pressed back into service by a desperate Royal Navy.

After a hasty refit, he takes Dreadnought on a rescue mission deep into enemy territory to retrieve an admiral taken hostage by the Deathless. If the interrogators break Admiral Morgan before Cohen can reach him, the Deathless will gain a wealth of classified intelligence and an unbeatable advantage in the war.

But the odds are against them. Will Dreadnought survive the voyage? Can Cohen find the Admiral before he talks? Will Captain Warden and his Marines be able to rescue the hostage?

Dreadnought is the fifth book in the gritty Royal Marine Space Commandos military sci-fi series. If you like battle-hardened heroes, space fleet combat, and non-stop action, then you’ll love Jon & James Evans’ star-spanning exploits.

Buy Dreadnought and find out if the old girl can overcome her enemies today!

Jon Evans was born in Portsmouth, England and has worked in a fabulously dull series of jobs, none of which constitute a career. While doing these jobs the dream was always to become a writer and there were many false starts and unfinished projects.

With his brother James, he writes military science fiction in the Royal Marine Space Commandos universe. With the launch of Fleet in April 2021, there are now six books in the main series beginning with Commando which kicks off The Deathless War. They're also (slowly!) publishing a series of short stories about Marine X a.k.a. Ten - a fan favourite character with a colourful past.

With co-author Paul Teague the brothers have the By Strength and Guile trilogy, written in the same universe and time period and dealing with a special forces mission to combat a new foe, who inconsiderately reveal themselves while The Deathless War is raging.

Thieftakers is the first book in his renaissance fantasy series that will explore the life and adventures of a group of outsiders, assigned to the least desirable Watch posting in their city. Edrin Loft has plans to revolutionise the City Watch of Kalider and must prove his methods if he's to make headway. The Thieftakers are a rough bunch of misfits, whose only role is to chase the very dregs of society, where other members of the Watch fear to go.

The Edrin Loft Mysteries will be an ongoing series of novels and novellas based in Kalider, once the capital city of what is now known as The Shattered Empire. Once the series is well underway, there will be an epic fantasy series that deals with events on the macro scale, affecting the whole Shattered Empire. Currently this series is on hiatus while Jon works on the military science fiction series, but he intends to resume it once time permits.

He now lives in Cardiff, where his surname fools people into thinking he's a local.

Storey moving along nicely

Well it's book 5 and the storey is progressing well. More of the main characters are coming to the fore, and new characters being introduced
I hope that Marine X gets more developed, it does become annoying when one of the main characters has so much background, but so little info on it
Cohen is learning to fight a ship on the fly and Agent O is still providing assistance without anyone truly trusting him yet
Hopefully book6 is more of the same

I had enjoyed this series, which has some interesting ideas, but unfortunately it has moved further and further into slapstick comedy culminating in this book with action which is almost entirely "comedy" led (inverted commas because it simply isn't that funny). Some people may like this, but it isn't for me.

I'm enjoying the storyline and the characters. The story is far moving, but takes it's time when describing battle scenes and important side stories.
I continue being frustrated with spelling and incorrect pronouns. However, the stories will continue keeping me with this series and the new spin-off

The war continues. The marines are needing down time, but cannot take a break. While I was not sure there was much more to twist, the universe is vast and the opportunity for new enemies is vast. My favourite character is still Marine X. He certainly knows more than we are being told. Only one more book in the series to find out.
